Indo-Pak or interfaith marriages

If you don't mind answering, how many castes are there and how is the hierarchy determined?
It originally started as Varnashram system around 3 thousand years ago where 4 varnas were created according to person's occupation. At the supreme top were Brahmins priestly class then came Kshatriyas the warriors after that Vaishyas the merchants and finally at the bottom of the ladder were Shudras the working class. At the beginning this system was quite fluid and anyone could move along the ladder if he/she proved himself. For instance Valmiki although born as a shudra wrote the first great epic of indian religions , The Ramayana.Likewise there were many other different examples such as these too and system worked fine initially for around a millenium. After that India started facing incursions mainly from north west and different foreign tribes got settled here and were eventually absorbed by the superior Indian culture finding their way inside the caste system with warriors and priests taking up the upper mantle and the peasents settling for shudras mostly and in some cases Vaishyas.
This went on for centuries while India continued to face invaders which ultimately assimilated into the hindu culture and complex caste system was formed. Now the hierarchy is bit difficult to explain but Brahmins still sit at the top while the Kshatriyas although a bit mixed compared to the Vedic period comes after that.Vishyas mostly go by the name Baniya today although thats not strictly true either. All in all the system has become quite complex than what is used to be during the vedic age.

Good for you bud.

Lol, not my fault you don't do your research. Next you'll say that not drinking alcohol is a requirement brought about by the Taliban. :)

Yes, very complicated.

Bilal, you don't understand. I've just chosen not to argue with you because I don't have the time and considering you're absolutely narcissistic about your personal knowledge and aren't ready to accept the other person opinion, let alone change yours, I don't find it worth my time to whine to you.

Nonetheless, just to make make something clear; before you criticize MY research, please remind WHERE and WHEN did I state that according to Islam, Muslims were allowed to marry polytheists? I simply stated something my deceased grandmother told me about Hindu-Muslim relations of the past.

And again, for all we know, majority of them probably converted to Islam. In all likelihood, they did. But even if they didn't, why does that give you the authority to label them as non-practicing Muslim or a Muslim that knows nothing about the religion?
