IPL 2018 | April 15 | Day 9 | Discussion Thread

Vintage Dhoni. Just came out with a sore back, unable to run, and played an innings that other players can barely dream of. Which means that his scratching around that he now seems to do is more mental than physical. He still has the ability. The way he dismantled Tye, who's a top notch death bowler, was pretty unbelievable.

And to think he actually was backing himself all along to score 20 odd per over for the last 3. What a legend. If there's an ODI all-time XI, peak-Dhoni will have to be there. Freak of nature. Still feel he's holding India back now though despite all of that.

Jadeja on the other hand is a waste of space. If CSK had sent Bravo before him they would have won the game. Also, can you literally never write CSK off? Nothing seems impossible when they're chasing. Dayum.

This! Brilliantly put! Dhoni is an absolute Legend, period.

He was playing on 32 of 28. At that time was 99% lost. This was more equivalent to Misbah's innings in mohali.

Today was vintage Dhoni.

But he has been a very poor performer for India since 2014. This ipl inning doesn't change that.

Still an ATG in ODIs. But his captaincy overshadows his batting.

If he had played this kinda innings while batting first I would have agreed to you.

Dhoni is a legend. Why do Indians want him dropped ?

Bhai have you heard of the word fluke in PP?

This was a fluke inning and that too in IPL. Btw, Dhoni has been only fluking these innings since 2014. Indian fans want him to retire and not get dropped so that his legacy remains intact.

Samson or Pant could have been groomed during the same time.

Today Samson played an outstanding knock. Some hitting against some decent bowling. Dhoni's knock was tremendous. But he rarely plays such knocks in T20. He does in ODIs. But not in T20s. Even in ODIs it has reduced alot.

There was a recent game against NZ where India was chasing 200. Kohli at the other end was doing brilliantly. But Dhoni nudged his way to a below 100 SR making India's chase 99.9% impossible. After that he started to hit and end his innings with a good SR giving an impression that he was the only one trying without getting support at the other end when infact he killed the game for India. This type of innings has been his forte recently. Now this CSK innings will do more harm for India.
