A lot of Arsenal fans are staunch critics when their team wins fa. Look at Wenger, their greatest ever manager, a statue of him etc but 90% of the crowd had Wenger out and Amjid with his crayons was there too. If Arteta ever wins a major trophy, his critics will change to bow down to him. But he wont this year imo...

Why would I get humble pie? The managers failed for last 5 seasons, thars a fact. So not sure why your attempting to clutch at straws. If we win title, manager gets credit, it doesn't get rid of five years of failure

No doubt, it was never an easy ask to beat Villa. But we can agree on one thing, Emery has Arteta's number. He has become a bunny of emery who keeps on avenging Gunners for that unexpected sacking

As the season end draws nearer, embarrassment for Arteta haters is just around the corner. As I have said previously, ‘folks who made hating on Arteta their bread and butter are now slyly trying to get on the Arteta bandwagon’. After years of hate, they now want a piece of the goodies. For that they are willing to ‘give credit’ to the manager. Lol 🤣

Embarrassment? So history is being rewritten now is it? The last 5 seasons are still failure. Who said people are jumping on a bandwagonm

The fact your your trying to pedal out klopp isn't a failure after 1 title in 9 years, so that you can then make 1 title in 7 year look like a success. Good effort at scrapping the barrel

Man United showed the blueprint on how to beat Arsenal.

Arsenal offer very little threat from open play. Arteta is the Spanish Tony Pulis. Against Arsenal, all you have to do is be wary of their set pieces, and because they are jammy ********, they will score goals from set pieces. But there is no reason to fear them, as they are a rubbish football team under Arteta.
 
Thankfully Kroenkes have much better sense than to remove the saviour of Arsenal. Come season end, Arteta haters will be crying with egg on their face.

Imagine people calling for the guy to be sacked who by their own admission can still win the league this season as well as other cups. Beggars belief..

Yes because even if if this is his ‘ceiling’ it’s a pretty high ceiling. I’d take the stability and sense of purpose he’s brought back to the club over rolling the dice again with a new manager. Arteta as one of our own, understands the club, and the supporters, the thinking ones at least, are behind him. Coming second has never been a deal breaker for me.

CL is an amazing feat but I think to really have an impact it has to come within a period of dominance in the league. There are of course exceptions and it means different things to each club, but ultimately I always find a Champions League win that is surrounded by success domesticly ( doesn't need to be the same season just a few years around it) a bit hollow. Perhaps I am just too old fashioned but I find it harder to appreciate champions of Europe that haven't been champions at home for a while.

In Arteta case if he fumbles the league again it's clear he doesn't have that extra bit to get them over the line. The players etc are obviously good enough, given they get so close time and time again, but playing another league season under Arteta will just impose more self inflicted pressure to shake off the chokers tag. Perhaps playing under another manager will free them of it?

A league win = Arteta hero and stays on to build a multi year cycle of dominance across competitions.
CL win = hero and a managed exit with lots of handshakes and waves good bye. Another manager comes in to take the squad to domestic success.
No league win and no CL = will be managed exit but will resemble a sacking more than a parting of ways

Ultimately of course it's for Arsenal fans to decide but as an outsider I don't know if CL is enough

I find this very strange, especially for a club as big as Arsenal and a club that has had the success that Arsenal has had

Whenever a manager has clearly hit a ceiling then moving on is completely logical, otherwise what is the point?

It's not like he can even hide behind playing really good, entertaining football, I would then understand wanting to keep him because ultimately football is entertainment and he would be delivering that but it's actually the opposite, the football Arsenal play is turgid and difficult to watch (And I say this as someone that thoroughly enjoyed watching Arsenal play under prime Wenger years)

The turgid football is only worth it if the end outcome is success, finishing 2nd again and again is not success

I've defended Arteta because I think from where he took over and to now there has been progress but if it doesn't end in success then it's failure for a club like Arsenal, and to his credit @Amjid Javed has repeatedly called him a failure and said he doesn't have it to get Arsenal over the line and he's going to be proved right, yet again

I don't necessarily disagree, winning the CL as Champions of your league is the ultimate but Arsenal have never won it so a win for them would be huge

CL win even with bottling the league again will absolutely keep him in his job, not a change they would part ways if that was to happen

I don’t look at success as this binary where you are a winner if you finish first and a failure if you finish second by a few points. That’s not how I like to be judged myself and that’s not how I judge Mikel.

He brought Arsenal out of a rut and has kept us out of it. Everybody knows how difficult it is to qualify for a cl spot in this league year after year, let alone finishing in the top two.

Yes Arsenal have played some dull and dour football at times and have not gone for a kill in situations where they could have and that may come back to haunt them. However that’s part of Arteta’s overall tactics of cynical time wasting, being ruthless with set pieces, and recycling possession, all of which I personally enjoy.

The current team is built and plays in Arteta’s image and that’s different from Wenger, I’ve accepted and don’t judge him on yardsticks from the past.

Success is built on processes, outcomes follow. Arteta has done an amazing job putting Arsenal right back in the global footballing conversation. Not too long ago, Arsenal had been reduced to a banter club, playing europa, losing to mid-table teams week in week out. Arteta got us out of that, and I am not going to turn on against him if he finishes a few points short.

That’s my thought process on this and I get it’s different from other Arsenal fans here.

I judge managers at big clubs on trophies and league they win. Those are my metrics and criteria for success
