Lol This is my point though. Waqar’s statement is throwaway ettiquette for someone much younger than them. He’s clearly not thought it through or even desire to - don’t blame him.

When I see a kid with a bit of ability - for encouragement to the bacha, I’ll say to his dad - “the kid is good, much better than I ever was”. Deep down I know he couldn’t lace my boots, but it’s not about me anymore and I’ve got nothing to prove!
