Rawalpindi, 18 October 2020:

The first major event of the 2020-21 domestic season will conclude today with the National T20 Cup for First XI teams final between Southern Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at the Pindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi.

The tournament was played in a bio-secure bubble and the Pakistan Cricket Board has robust plans in place to continue to host cricket this season in it to ensure health and safety of all the major stakeholders in these challenging and unprecedented times.

Over the course of the double-league tournament, the participating teams and match officials were lodged in Pakistan’s top-rated hotels where they availed top-notch food and gym facilities. The players were also provided indoor games to keep them entertained during their stay in the bio-secure bubble.

Officials of all six teams expressed their satisfaction at the arrangements while lauding PCB’s and the hotel staff’s tireless efforts of making their stay a pleasant one.

Balochistan assistant coach, Wasim Haider: “It was indeed a very difficult task to organise a tournament in the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic and the uncertainty it has caused around the world. PCB did a commendable job by ensuring a top-class tournament with the best possible facilities while keeping the health and safety of all participants paramount.”

Central Punjab team manager, Azhar Zaidi: “PCB needs to be credited for a wonderful effort in arranging a bio-secure bubble and ensuring a quality tournament. PCB management was also present at various stages during the tournament, which provided a real assurance to the players, coaches and all concerned. The arrangements in these unprecedented and tough times were indeed a big challenge and the PCB succeeded in pulling it off.”

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa head coach, Abdul Razzaq: “I have been involved in domestic cricket for nearly 25 years and have played all across Pakistan. The arrangements for this season have been terrific; I have not seen such quality arrangements for domestic cricket ever. We were lodged in quality hotels, provided quality food and good training facilities. In the prevailing situation, we have managed to produce an exciting tournament in a real comfortable environment.”

Northern head coach, Mohammad Wasim: “PCB has provided top-class facilities to all the participants of the tournament. The accommodation and gym facilities were indeed of the highest quality, which made our stay a real pleasant one. PCB went all out to support us and I am thankful to them for making it a memorable experience for us.”

Sindh head coach, Basit Ali: “The first two to three days in the lead-up to the tournament were a bit difficult for us but soon we realised that all the arrangements in place were for our safety and health and that gave us immense comfort. I am grateful and want to thank Director – High Performance, Nadeem Khan, his team and the PCB management for making it a thoroughly enjoyable experience for all of us. We stayed like a family during the tournament which really helped us concentrate on the actual competition.”

Southern Punjab head coach, Abdur Rehman: “The quality arrangements we have been provided by PCB for this tournament are indeed praiseworthy. The standard of cricket and the competitiveness between the six teams was great to watch. We were provided quality playing and training kits, good food, training facilities and entertainment options at the hotel which helped the players stay fresh in their minds while focusing on performing during the tournament.”

Southern Punjab assistant coach, Aizaz Cheema: “Health and safety is a top priority and without a doubt PCB has kept that as a top priority. We were provided excellent arrangements which kept the players focused on the job at hand while providing them the comforts of the highest quality, the bio-secure arrangements were indeed top-class too. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay and run in the tournament.”

Admittedly only the second game of this tournament that I’ll watch

Southern Punjab won the toss and elected to field first

After we spent the summer slaughtering them, a team with Hafeez, Malik and Ifti are in the final of our domestic T20 tournament :facepalm

If kpk win this it will be based upon thier bowling line up and hafeez and rizwan

Can't find the match streaming on PCB YouTube channel? Does anyone know why?

Malik didnt do much to be honest. Whether we like it or not Hafeez is one of the best T20 player we have and possibly even the world based upon the form and Ifti is one of the best hitters though quite a few other options have put their hands up to compete which is good to see.

Shape with Yamin gets with the new ball is always good to see.

Yamin has looked decent at times in this tournament.

Just lacks a yard of pace.

Looks to be trundling in at 128-130kph max.

In PSL the speed gun showed him to be around that 135 kph mark more often than not if I am not wrong. Thats decent pace if someone can swing the ball in my opinion. Yes when the swing goes away than you need to bring in variations.

Fakhar is on a mission tonight.....no opener has actually challenged his place in the national team...
Zeeshan Ashraf Zeeshan Malik were not so consistent.........also Sharjeel lost form and runs at the end

Are KPK setting up an old folks home ? I'm all for a blend of youth and experience but Mohammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, Musaddiq Ahmed, Asif Afridi and Wahab Riaz all in one lineup is criminal.

Just pray somehow they don't win today

Broadcast has improved alot since the first game, almost international game quality

In what sense? Graphics still the same which aren't readable which go missing for half of the game.

Ball still goes missing in the outfield with the cameras and camerawork they have.

Surely wouldn't go as far as calling this international quality.

This is just a start for them in telecasting with tons of improvements needed in the coming years.

How come KPK didn’t field any emerging player today? Musadiq is 32 years old.

I think Razzaq is far worse than Misbah in terms of giving opportunity to a younger player.

It would suck if KPK win with all the oldies on their team. Razzaq is like Misbah 2.0

Ifthi flops again when it matters.

Seems there is some mental block with this guy for big matches.

Zahid Mehmood has bowled pretty well in the match. Figures are not showing the complete picture

Think it could well be a one-sided affair but lets see if the two oldies can justify their "experienced" tag

He flops more often than not anyway
. I'm glad he has do not want to see likes of him and Asif A in Pak team just because they can tonk few from ordinary bowlers.
I'm also glad I voted for Souten Punjab to win win KPK are playing too many seniors.

Aamir Yamin is kind of bowler who you dont ball in death overs and utilize mainly with the new ball. I think with 4 pacers Shan could have managed that.

Yamin's lack of pace being shown up again.

Not the bowler to give the ball to when the heat is on.

Not the bowler to give the ball to when the heat is on.

He has struggled at death even in PSL, not sure why captains keep on bowling him in later half. Still remember LQ vs KK in PSL 2 where Yamin was representing LQ and Pollard took a liking to his bowling and knocked LQ out of the tournument when they were in a winning position.

I must say this was pretty average captaincy from Shan today, even with the limited bowling stocks at his disposal. Bowling Abbas and Yamin at the death was a poor decision. Also strange that Hussain Talat didn't bowl at all.

If they dont give shaheen wickets this could be a close one but i think last 4 overs have cost them

Strange captaincy and very ordinary bowling in the last few overs by SP.

A lack of bowling options may have cost them.

Zeeshan, Maqsood and Khushdil will be the key players if SP has to chase it

Zahid Mehmood has bowled pretty well in the match. Figures are not showing the complete picture

Hafeez dropped of his bowling and hit him for a flukey four...I really feel for the bowlers with such pathetic fielding.

You think imran has potential? He has good lines and slower ball variation but came up against malik on a flat track

Imran is a pretty useful lower order hitter as well. However in his bowling he needs to be more accurate. Yes he has decent pace and has variations but needs to work on his radar. He is first time playing at such a stage so there would have been nerves.

Shaheen was too good for Sohaib here. SP in trouble. Zeeshan and Khushdil need to play a gem

Shaheen really needs to be monitored as he's only 20 and has played every format since he came on the international scene at 18.

Hopefully they don't just carry on playing him recklessly. His game is still in its early days and has huge potential and a lot of work to do.

Others are inexperienced, these 2 are the bowlers who he can go to for the death bowling.

Abbas and yamin should have done better.

Talat looking in good touch. Can SP pull out a miracle here is the question

Talat loving Malik’s bowling. 14 from Malik’s first 4 balls till now

Like the approach of Talat today. He has the skills and shots but sometimes just keeps rotating for too long.
