Looks so much stronger than last time around.

Better balance and several matchwinners rather than just relying on 1 or 2 players.

Arguably the strongest team. I would've preferred they picked an upcoming fast bowler over Bilawal Bhatti.

Batting looks thin bar McCullum, Akmal and Fakhar compared to other teams. Bowling looks decent though.

Decent squad this time. Not happy with the emerging category though. One of them has to be in the 11 and Ghulam Mudassir, as per Aqib's own admission not ready and Usman Qadir yet another leg spinner. I'd rather had Saif Badar picked ahead of him but anyways..
Other than that, a good team.
My 4 foreigners would be,
B Mac
Delport
Bravo
and the last between Elliott/Tait and Devich/Narine.
As for emerging, depends, If yasir plays then defo need Mudasir and if not, can maybe o for Usama.
Local players.
Umar Akmal for sure.
Rizwan for sure.
Tanvir. Experienced.
Bilawal Bhatti, good lower order and hopefully some yorkers.
Zafar Gohar, spinner
and 11th, i am not sure but Yasir maybe, considering lack of spinners.
So the 11 looks something like this.
Delport

B Mac
U Akmal
Bravo
Rizwan
Z Gohar
S. Tanvir
B. Bhatti
Tait
Yasir
Ghulam Mudasir
Not happy at that we didnt retain Zia and Ehsan Adil. They were very good last season and would have helped but still, looks pretty strong side.

On second thoughts, Narine in place of Tait as the pitches will be slow and no spinner in the side bar Yasir and Zafar. ANd not even a part timer. But Bravo and Delport can contribute still

My 11 would be

McCullum
Devcich
Akmal
Delport
Fakhar
Rizwan
Bravo
Yamin
Tanvir
Zafar
Mudassir

Very good team on paper.

However the likes of Yasir, rizwan etc will ruin it. Anyways still no match for ISLU.

In what way is tait better than Mark Wood?

anton and elliot seem like the Kiwi safraish.

Yeah, elliot did well last time, but I don't think the pitches will be sluggish again because there is no retiree league anymore, hence the pitches will be fresh and relatively flat.

He may come into it later on, but that might be at the end and would be useless for a good 3/4, hence why QG dropped him is well.

Also, don't see delport doing much and he didn't look that great either, despite scoring some runs.

Pace deportment is still questionable, but better than last year.

1.Mcculam
2.Delport/Fakhar
3.Akmal
4.Delport/Devcich
5.Devcich/Fakhar
6.Rizwan
7.Bravo
8.Yamin/Zafar
9.Yasir
10.Tanvir
11.Ghulam

Ideally, playing 1 should be:

1-Brendon MucCullum
2-Fakhar Zaman
3-Cameron Delport
4-Umar Akmal
5-Muhammad Rizwan
6- Dwayne Bravo
7-Aamer Yamin
8-Sohail Tanvir
9-Zafar Gohar
10-Yasir Shah (need a legspinner...)
11-Shaun Tait

Abdullah719 Btw which Muhammad Irfan is this, the young fast bowler or left-arm-orthodox?

Awesome team is much stronger than last time around and I'm pumped hope we win!

My Playing XI

1. Brendon McCullum (C)
2. Fakhar Zaman
3. Umar Akmal
4. Mohammad Rizwan (WK)
5. Dwayne Bravo
6. Amir Yamin
7. Grant Elliot
8. Sohail Tanvir
9. Zafar Gohar
10. Sunil Narine
11. Mohammad Irfan/ Shaun Tait

This would just be my starting 11 we should see which 11 works best though.

Will be supporting Lahore qalandars in this tournament followed by Karachi. Karachi just because off Babar, Amir and Sanga

So Qalandars selected only one fast bowler or two if you count bhatti? again, poor squad selected. Taut is a supplemental pick, so that means he only gets picked when someone isn't available or injured.

BMac*
Fakhar
Umar
Devcic
Bravo
Rizwan+
Yamin
Tannu
Narine
Gohar/Yasir
Mudassar

I think, it's a very good starting XI for UAE - 8 overs of solid spin + few from Fakhar; while Bravo is very good finisher & Tannu/Yamin can use the new ball on slaggish wickets. Batting depth is excellent - more importantly Rizwan is the only grafter in top 7, who has a SR probably over 125; Tannu, Narine & Gohar/Yasir can hit out as well.

Biggest gain is Mac as Captain - last year, LQ missed the cut despite having the best batsman in their team, would have put my money on them to repeat that, had Azhar been captain.

Should be one of the finalist at Home (Gaddafi).

Mccullum
Fakhar
Umar
Saif badar
Zafar gohar
Bravo
Elliot
Tanveer
yamin
Bhatti
Narine

No clue. They didn't specify much, only said that he is from Qalandars' Player Development Program. The fast bowler perhaps?

Found him. He's from Faisalabad's trials. This one's tall and lanky as well, between 6'4-6'6. High arm, open chested action like a West Indian. Action and run-up are all over the place but has good control and skill.

Also, Ehsan>>>>bhatti

This makes absolutely no sense why Qalandars didn’t retain Ehsan Adil and picked Bhatti instead. Ehsan played with lot of passion last year and was the only success in bowling. He should have been retained.

Interesting. Doubt he'll get a game though.

Any Videos?

We're going to get owned. Bowling again looks paper thin. I'm actually happy with Tanveer, but Narine isn't the Narine of old. Can still contain runs but looks like a completely different bowler since he remodeled his action. And Yasir, not a good enough bowler in the shorter formats as we've all seen. Add to that Shaun Tait on the wrong side of his 30s, who's injury prone as well.

This team will be TOO dependent on B Mac and Umar Akmal. Might look good on paper but we'll get found out.

Really frustrating decision.

Like you said, Ehsan was the best bowler for LQ.

Lahore are going to disappoint big time again. There is no middle order there

What pace do you think he's bowling at? Honestly that Ehtisham guy looked a much better prospect.

Ehtisham collapses a lot at the crease. He's quick though and has potential. Irfan is taller and stays tall in his action. His pace is inconsistent due to his action but he sent down some really fast bouncy deliveries. His faster ones would be 140k+. Like I said he's very raw and needs a lot of work. But he's got more potential than the original Irfan.

Fair analysis. Doubt Irfan will get a game though.

This should be our playing x1.

B.Macallum
Azhar Ali/Devcic
Umar Akmal
Delport
M.Rizwan
Amir yamen
Sohail Tanveer (i wrote his nick name earlier but got renamed...lol)
Bravo
Sunil Narine
Ghulam Mudassar
Yasir/Zafar/Bhatti

Who and what the heck is a chris green?

On another note, Roy is a really good pick and looking forward for some fireworks from him.

Franklin for Devich is the same thing, so not much difference.

The core of McCullum, Akmal, Narine, Roy, Tanvir, Zafar and Yamin are very good, whilst the likes of Fakhar and Mudasser seem to have a lot of potential to do well, plus Rizwan needs to hit form and this team is ready to take the title.

Don't expect much from Yasir, but hoping for the best from him.

Playing 11:
1. Roy
2. Mac
3. Fakhar
4. Akmal
5. Rizwan (wk)
6. Yamin
7. Elliot/Franklin
8. Tanvir
9. Narine
10. Zafar
11. Mudasser

That looks like a brilliant line up, but missing a spin A/R and someone to support the main spinners like Narine and Zafar.

Isn't it mandatory to play one emerging player in the 11 ?

Yes - that's where they have done so well. They have picked an emerging player (Mudassar), who could have played either way. Last year, KK made a blunder, which forced them to pick either Hamza (A non T20 bowler - for UAE, not even in nets) or that WK kid.

Is Saif Badar in the emerging or supplementary for Lahore ???

lahore is the strongest team in psl this season

No. Quetta and Peshawar are stronger.

Quetta:

Shehzad
Wright
KP
Rossow
Sarfraz
Moeen
Nawaz
Anwar
Gul
Zulfiqar
Hasan Khan

Peshawar:

Hafeez
Akmal/ Dilshan
Haris/ Samuels
Morgan
Maqsood/ Iftikhar/ Khushdil
Fletcher
Afridi
Sammy
Wahab
Junaid
Asghar

My 11 would be;
Roy
Bmac
Umar
Rizwan
Delport
Fakhar
Yamin
Tanvir
Narine
Mudasir
Yasir Shah
Sadly, bowling looks weak but atleast there is experience of Tanvir and Narine and Yasir too. It would have been a lot stronger if they would have retained Ehsan Adil and Zia Ul Haq.

Zia was no good but i'm surprised they didn't pick Ehsan Adil who was the only good bowler last year.

Moin Ali backed out and QG has included Brad Hodge today in their squad

Agree with Lahore fast bowling being very weak. No one beside Sohail Tanveer and even i'm not sure if he will be good enough to take early wickets. Ghulam Mudassar is raw not sure if he would be able to keep his line length and we all know Bhatti that he choke in pressure. Remember how Ross Taylor and Maxwell treated Bhatti and he had absolutely no idea what to do!

Elliot is in supplemantry squad onbly and lahore didnt call a single player from supplementry ssquad last year. I wish LQ put Elliot in main squad and put Franklin in supplementry. Franklin is very old not sure if he could still deliver the goods

Foreigners can play, even if they are picked as a supplementary.

Only local players can't be part of the squad and can only join, if there is an injury or something.

Wait, why do people keep saying Lahore has the strongest team? Look at our bowling, jeez. Tanvir is a decent T20 player, but apart from him, we have NO quality pace bowler in the side. Atm, there's a lot of room for POTENTIAL, as we'll have to wait and see how guys like Yamin, Usman Qadir, Zafar Gohar, Ghulam Mudassar and the new Irfan go about this tournament. A lot will depend on these guys, can't only rely on Tanvir/Bravo with their variations.

Batting heavy lineup, as I keep saying. I can only hope the younger guys fulfill their potential and become the players we need them to be.

Because of the younger bowlers. If they bowl to their potential, it completes the squad.

who is the guy on the left of bhatti n 2nd pic...and on the other left of rizwan ??

Such a great experience for young players like G.mudasar, saif badar, zafar gohar,m.irfan to sitting next to

big star like Mucculum .i hope they learn alot from him

I think he is Saif Badar, Pak U19.

He is such a classy batsman but I was watching Aaquib Javed's interview that somebody posted and Mr. Javed thought that Badar is a full-on slogger and is moulding him to bat at number 6 or 7

Somebody get Badar away from Javed.

We need a good no.6 or 7 slogger in our national team and if a good batsman can convert himself into an effective slogger then it's not bad at all. We already have too many of classy batsmen who can't change gears towards the end of innings.
