Lahore Qalandars win Abu Dhabi T20 Trophy [4-6 Oct, 2018]

Yorkshire in shock. Well done LQ!!

Salt earning a PSL contract with his 37 (21) :ashwin.

Good start LQ. Congratulations Akhtar on your maiden 100.

Razzaq hitted a 4 :razzaq

No he didn't bowl. Was pathetic in the field.

Razzaq & Yousaf were poor fielders since they started their careers. Nothing new.

I saw him sprinting between the wickets in last over of batting. That was surprising.

He came on in the second last over, it wasn't like he was already batting for 15 overs or so.

I get the feeling Yorkshire were a bit arrogant and expected to win the game with ease. LQ had other ideas.

Lahore Qalandars beat Yorkshire Vikings in their first game of Abu Dhabi T20.

A match winning performance by Sohail Akhtar who scored an incredible century in 56 balls by smashing eleven 4s and five 6s, helped his team chase the target of 185 runs set by Yorkshire Vikings. Phillip Salt, a promising young talent assisted to lead his team to victory by scoring an unbeaten 37 from 21 balls. Moreover, a brilliant partnership of 70 runs from 43 balls between Sohail Akhtar and the very talented Bilal Irshad guided Lahore towards victory. Magical bowling spells by Farzan Raja and Shaheen Afridi, who took 2 wickets each giving away 39 and 36 runs respectively, restricted Yorkshire’s score to 185.
On the other hand, Yorkshire’s bowling line struggled in defending the run chase and were unable to take early wickets. Brook with his 37 from 25 balls and Balance with 33 from 26 balls helped Yorkshire set a target of 185 runs for Lahore Qalandars.
Sohail Akhtar played a true captains’ innings and won himself the Man of the Match award. Lahore Qalandars will face Hobart Hurricanes in tomorrow’s match of Abu Dhabi T20 which will begin at 4:00pm.

Phil Salt batted well and must be in the reckoning for the Lahore Qalandars squad, but it’s not guaranteed
As for Sohail Akhtar, looks like he will be retained by Lahore Qalandars now

Nathan Ellis almost picks up his second on the final ball of his spell, but the ball clears the rope. He finishes 1-22 (4).

Lahore 3-146 from 18.

Jordan Clark gets himself a run out on the second to last ball. He had a hand in five of the six wickets!

Lahore finish 6-175.

This Rauf guy bowling at 146 kph plus, Waqar saying most of the bowlers haven't played with a hard ball before, only tennis and tape balls. :13:

Lahore Qalandars beat Hobart Hurricanes to reach the final of Abu Dhabi T20.

An outstanding knock of 58 runs in 44 balls by the talented Muhammad Faizan guided Lahore Qalandars towards setting up a target of 182 runs for Hobart Hurricanes. Agha Salman, another outstanding talent played his part by scoring 37 not out in 21 balls and further strengthened the scoreboard for Lahore Qalandars. Moreover, a brilliant partnership of 74 runs from 63 balls between Sohail Akhtar and M. Faizan provided a boost to the runs scored and helped set a decent target for Hobart Hurricanes which was later defended by a brilliant bowling attack by Lahore Qalandars.

The second innings saw Hobart Hurricanes’ batting line suffer as they gave away quick wickets. Wakim scored 43 runs from 36 balls but was unable to lead his team to victory as he gave away his wicket to Farzan Raja. Hobart Hurricanes fell short of 35 runs, courtesy the brilliant bowling attack by Lahore Qalandars Farzan Raja who took 4 wickets giving away 24 runs in 4 overs.

Muhammad Faizan’s incredible knock of 58 runs won him the Man of the Match award and this victory helped Lahore Qalandars reach the final of Abu Dhabi T20 which will be played tomorrow at 9:00pm.

This faizan kid is talented. Should play in PSL.

Shafqatullah was a also a good batsman. The fact that LQ didn’t pick him tells you everything about their selection policy. Shafqatullah is a far better player of spin and is equally good, if not better than Faizan, against pace.

Is he the one who was opening with Faizan for Faisalabad in rising stars tournament ? He looked good too but Faizan's timing is immaculate. Angrez Pakistani

Yes. While Faizan was good against pace, he struggled against spin. Shafqatullah was better at handling the spin and was equally reliant on strike rotation as well as on boundaries.

Well they needed to fit in the likes of Nazir and Razzaq somehow

Phil Salt, remember the name. :bishop:

More than his batting, Salt has mentored/directed the fielders pretty well so far; he has realised they are very inexperienced so has constantly pushed them to stop the second run/back up etc.

However, his keeping against spin needs to improve. He is a classic T20 keeper- batsman first, keeper second.

He is not even a specialist keeper!!he is an allrounder who bowls medium pace, i don't know why qalandars bought him as a keeper(may be he has just started keeping i am not too sure) but still he is an very explosive batsman who might represent england in the limited overs very soon....

Imran Nazir, Abdur Razzaq and Zulfi cobra playing T20 cricket in 2018...... The 2000s called they want their players back.

WICKET: After a flurry of boundaries the Titans get their first breakthrough.

Looking to drive, Irshad (14) goes aerial and de Bruyn makes no mistake at mid-off. That's Moreki's first scalp.

Qalanders 27-1 at the end of the fourth over

Titans are 36-2 with Moonsamy on 17 and de Bruyn unbeaten on 6.

The target 149

Haris and SSA nailed those yorkers again and again. Great sight.

Great stuff! With that low score LQs nailed and were spot on. Impressive bowling from Harris and Shaheen.

What a great bowling by the two youngsters...Shaheed Afridi and Haris Rauf.

Congratulations to the Lahore Qalandars.

Lahore Qalandars beat Multiply Titans to win the final of Abu Dhabi T20.

An outstanding knock of 56 runs in 47 balls by the skipper Sohail Akhtar guided Lahore Qalandars towards setting up a target of 149 runs for Multiply Titans. Muhammad Faizan, another great prospect played his part by scoring 32 runs in 35 balls and further boosted the runs scored for Lahore Qalandars. Moreover, a brilliant partnership of 81 runs from 71 balls between Sohail Akhtar and M. Faizan augmented the score and helped set a decent target for Multiply Titans which was later defended by an incredible bowling attack by Lahore Qalandars.

The second innings saw Multiply Titans’ batting line suffer as the incredible bowling attack by Lahore Qalandars created pressure and helped defend the total. De Bruyn and Kuhn scored 37 runs each from 31 and 28 balls respectively but were unable to lead their team to victory as they gave away their wickets to Shaheen Afridi. Multiply Titans fell short of 18 runs, courtesy the brilliant bowling attack by Lahore Qalandars’ Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf. Shaheen took 2 extremely crucial wickets and gave away 28 runs while Haris impressed by putting a halt to the runs being scored by Titans. Another impressive performance was that of Maaz Khan who took the first 2 wickets and helped defend the total.

Shaheen Afridi’s incredible bowling spell won him the Man of the Match award and a combined team effort won Lahore Qalandars the trophy of Abu Dhabi T20.

Good experience for the LQ squad especially the lads who are fringe players and haven't had much experience.
