Chelsea strengthened their chances of securing European football next season, cruising to victory against West Ham at Stamford Bridge

It took just 15 minutes for Chelsea to get their noses in front with Cole Palmer reacting quickest to meet a loose ball in the West Ham box.

West Ham almost hit back immediately when Jarrod Bowen's header crashed back off the crossbar, but it was one-way traffic from then on.

Chelsea doubled their lead on the half-hour mark through Conor Gallagher before Noni Madueke headed in the third six minutes later.

Nicolas Jackson struck twice in the second half to round off a wholly positive afternoon for the Blues.

With just three games left to play, Chelsea's season seems to be heading for a strong finish as they have climbed up to seventh and sit just two points shy of sixth-placed Newcastle, while West Ham, who have two games remaining, stay ninth.

After a rocky first season under the tutelage of Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea are starting to click and European football could still be on the agenda for next season if they keep up this momentum.

The Blues have won nine of their past 11 home Premier League outings and they are now on a four-game winning streak at Stamford Bridge, having beaten Manchester United, Everton, Tottenham and now West Ham.

They seem to be playing with greater confidence and it bodes well for the next term.

An assured finish into the the bottom right corner from Palmer set Chelsea on their way, taking his tally in the league to 21.

Captain Gallagher's strike was equally as impressive as he volleyed emphatically across the target to leave Alphonse Areola rooted to the spot.

The game was pretty much over as a contest by the 36th-minute when Madueke found space in the six-yard box to turn in Thiago Silva's knockdown.

Jackson further tightened Chelsea's grip on all three points shortly after half-time and he showed great composure when rolling in the fifth after beating the offside trap late on.

Chelsea were not asked too many questions defensively but Pochettino will also be pleased to see his side record back-to-back clean sheets in the league for the first time since February 2023.

Joao Pedro struck a late winner as Brighton put a dent in Aston Villa's Champions League hopes at the Amex Stadium

The Brazilian headed home a rebound in the 87th minute after his penalty was saved by Robin Olsen.

Pascal Gross had an earlier effort for the hosts ruled out for offside by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR), while Villa captain John McGinn was also judged to be inches ahead of the Brighton defence before scoring at the other end.

Unai Emery's fourth-placed side remain seven points clear of Tottenham, who have two games in hand and visit Liverpool on Sunday.

Tottenham's dramatic decline continued as their hopes of reaching the Premier League's top four faded even further after they were well beaten by Liverpool at Anfield.

Aston Villa's defeat at Brighton left the door open for Spurs to make a late push for next season's Champions League but even a late comeback could not prevent a fourth successive defeat as Liverpool found form once more after their own recent slump.

Mohamed Salah put his touchline bust-up with manager Jurgen Klopp at West Ham behind him to open the scoring with a far-post header from Cody Gakpo's cross after 16 minutes, Andy Robertson adding the second right on half-time when Spurs keeper Guglielmo Vicario could only push out the Egyptian's shot.

Spurs lost discipline and Vicario had to separate team-mates Cristian Romero and Emerson Royal as they went off at half-time, with matters not improving for Ange Postecoglou's side as they were over-run after the break by a rampant Liverpool.

Gakpo headed the third from Harvey Elliott's delivery five minutes after the interval, the latter getting on the scoresheet himself in the 59th minute with a glorious curling finish from 20 yards into the top corner.

Liverpool then inexplicably switched off to allow substitute Richarlison and Heung-Min Son to give Spurs unlikely hope but it was too late and they remain seven points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa with a game in hand.

Premier League referee to wear camera in match

A referee will wear a video camera for the first time in a Premier League game during Monday evening's match between Crystal Palace and Manchester United.

Jarred Gillett will use a head-mounted device called a 'RefCam', although the footage will not be broadcast live.

The video will be used in a one-off programme providing insight into officiating in the Premier League.

In February, Bundesliga referee Daniel Schlager wore a camera and microphone during a 2-2 draw between Eintracht Frankfurt and Wolfsburg.

That footage was also used for a programme called 'Referees Mic'd up - Bundesliga'.

Last year, Premier League referee Rob Jones wore a camera for a 2023 Summer Series match between Chelsea and Brighton in Philadelphia.

The use of bodycams was also trialled by the Football Association in adult grassroots football last year in an effort to reduce the amount of abuse officials at that level suffered.

Crystal Palace 4-0 Manchester United - MATCH REPORT

Crystal Palace sealed a first league double over Manchester United with a rampant 4-0 win at Selhurst Park.

Michael Olise ran 20-yards under no challenge to eventually slot beyond Andre Onana to put Oliver Glasner's side in the lead after 13 minutes.

Jean-Philippe Mateta surged beyond Johnny Evans to finish emphatically for his sixth goal in a row on home turf.

Tyrick Mitchell tapped in from close range after a fine cross by Adam Wharton in the 58th minute and French youngster Olise capitalised on a Casemiro mistake to power a strike beyond a wanting Onana.

Nottingham Forest have failed in their appeal to have their four-point deduction for breaking financial rules in the 2022/23 season overturned.

The club were charged in January after breaching Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) by £34.5m above their permitted threshold of £61m for the assessment period ending 2022/23.

Josko Gvardiol scored twice as Manchester City put the pressure on Arsenal in the title race by beating Fulham to move two points clear at the top of the Premier League

In a game they dominated from start to finish, the visitors opened the scoring early on when defender Gvardiol produced a clinical finish after a good move opened up the Fulham defence.

Phil Foden then continued his excellent form this season with a second after the break, sending a first-time finish past Bernd Leno.

Erling Haaland should have added a third midway through the second half but the Premier League’s top scorer somehow drove high over when through on goal.

But Manchester City did not have to wait long for another goal as Gvardiol stabbed in at the far post to put the result beyond Fulham.

Issa Diop was shown a second yellow card in stoppage time as he brought down Julain Alvarez inside the box, and the Manchester City substitute then duly converted the penalty.

The result means the Gunners head to Manchester United on Sunday needing to win to be certain of taking the title race to the final day of the season.

Manchester City are at Tottenham on Tuesday and if Arsenal fail to get a positive result at Old Trafford then victory will seal a fourth consecutive Premier League title for Guardiola's side.

Arsenal’s capitulation in the crucial stages of last season’s title race meant it was ultimately a pretty comfortable win for Manchester City.

But this time they have been pushed harder by Mikel Arteta’s men, and Guardiola stressed earlier this week that there could be no margin for error in their pursuit of another league trophy.

Against a Fulham side with nothing to play for, coupled with an impressive run of 15 straight wins against the Cottagers, a slip-up always looked unlikely at Craven Cottage.

And so it proved as they dominated throughout to make it seven successive wins in the Premier League, scoring four goals or more in six of those victories.

Arsenal are still very much in the title race, and a win against Manchester United on Sunday would put the pressure back on City, but the manner of this comfortable win indicates that Guardiola’s side are showing very little sign of nerves when it matters.

Fulham needed to win to keep alive hopes of matching last season’s top-10 finish, but that was always going to be difficult against a Manchester City side going for the title.

The hosts did make an energetic start, with City struggling to get a touch of the ball for the first couple of minutes, but with Gvardiol’s goal the visitors were firmly in control.

Fulham had one moment in the second half when they caused some alarm for the City defence, Rodrigo Muniz’s flicked effort deflecting towards the far corner before Ederson was able to scramble across, but they were otherwise largely toothless.

While relegation has never been a concern it has been a disappointing end to the season for Marco Silva’s side, having won just one of their last eight Premier League games.

Yoane Wissa scored a 95th-minute winner to help his Brentford side beat Bournemouth in a stunning finish at the Vitality Stadium in the Premier League

Bryan Mbeumo played in substitute Wissa, who buried his finish from a tight angle to give the Bees just their fifth league win in 2024.

After an even first 86 minutes Mbeumo gave Brentford the lead as Wissa met goalkeeper Mark Flekken's long ball forward and set up his strike partner for an easy finish.

But fewer than three minutes later Dominic Solanke equalised, meeting Marcos Senesi's cross with a looping header.

Everton enjoyed a successful send-off at Goodison Park this season with a Premier League victory over already-relegated Sheffield United

The Toffees had ensured survival but triumphing in the last home game this term stretched their unbeaten run to five games, while the visitors became the first side to concede a record 101 goals in a season.

Abdoulaye Doucoure netted the winner on the half-hour mark courtesy of a close range header into an open net from Dominic Calvert-Lewin's cross.

The midfielder could have had another on the stroke of half-time but sent a looping effort wide of the post on this occasion.

In between, the Blades battled bravely and Andre Brooks cut in from the left and forced Jordan Pickford into a sharp save low down with a powerful drive, their only shot on target in the contest.

In-form Everton travel to Arsenal on the final day with the possibility of having a say in the title race, while Sheffield United end their miserable campaign at home to Tottenham.

Newcastle dropped points in their pursuit of European football as Brighton spoiled their final home match of the Premier League season by earning a draw at St James’ Park

Sean Longstaff cancelled out Joel Veltman's opener on the stroke of half-time to ensure Newcastle scored in every one of their home league fixtures in a top-flight season for the first time since 1958-59.

Welcomed to the pitch by an impressive pre-match flag display from the home support, Newcastle dominated the early stages - and much of the game from there.

But it was the visitors, offering a threat on the counter, who took an 18th-minute lead when Veltman struck at close range after Newcastle failed to clear a corner.

Newcastle were rewarded for their persistence when Longstaff steered in from Elliot Anderson’s cut-back, following great work by the always-lively Anthony Gordon.

However, with Gordon's late finish ruled out for offside, Eddie Howe’s side failed to find a winner in the second half to leave their hopes of qualifying for some form of European football in the balance.

After fifth-placed Tottenham moved six points clear with victory over Burnley, Newcastle must now watch as Chelsea and Manchester United aim to move level on points with them when they play later this weekend.

Burnley have been relegated from the Premier League after they could not secure a win at Tottenham which would have kept their hopes alive

The Clarets, who knew a draw or defeat meant they would no longer be able to catch fourth-bottom Nottingham Forest, took the lead when Jacob Bruun Larsen slid in a 25th-minute opener.

The joy among the travelling fans was tempered seven minutes later when Pedro Perro hammered in an equaliser.

After dominating the second half without finding a way through, Spurs were finally rewarded when defender Micky van de Ven burst forward and expertly slotted the winner into the bottom corner.

The draw would have done few favours for fifth-placed Tottenham, who needed a win to keep the pressure on Aston Villa in the race for the Champions League.

Luton are on the brink of relegation from the Premier League after West Ham came from behind to mark David Moyes' final home game with a win at London Stadium

Albert Sambi Lokonga's first-half opener threatened to turn the penultimate game of Moyes' tenure into a damp squib while breathing new life into the Hatters' survival fight.

But Moyes rallied his troops at half-time and Luton were unable to repel the hosts after the break.

James Ward-Prowse drove home the 54th-minute equaliser after Thomas Kaminski had turned Jarrod Bowen's cross-shot into his path.

Tomas Soucek fired the Hammers in front with a brilliant finish, finding the net with a first-time volley from 25 yards after 65 minutes when Luton cleared a corner straight to him.

Mohammed Kudus should have added a third as the hosts dominated the second period, but the midfielder only managed to hit the post from 10 yards out when unmarked.

But that miss did not matter as 19-year-old George Earthy, on as a substitute for his second league appearance, turned in Kudus' cut-back from close range.

The result leaves Luton three points behind fourth-bottom Nottingham Forest with only one game left to play and a significantly worse goal difference.

One of the major criticisms of Moyes from West Ham fans - who have been demanding a change of manager since before he ended the 43-year trophy drought in the Europa Conference League last June - was his seeming refusal to give younger players a chance.

Given that, it is ironic a youth-team product scored the last home goal under the Scot.

Earthy's only previous top-flight appearance, at Fulham last month, only lasted seven minutes as he sustained a horrible head injury that required hospital treatment.

Little wonder there was so much joy on the teenager's face after he darted across the Luton defence to steer Kudus' pass into the net with his first touch after replacing Michail Antonio.

It was the kind of moment that can make a career and, while Moyes will not be the beneficiary, Earthy looks capable of having a significant impact under Julen Lopetegui - when the former Spain and Real Madrid manager's appointment is eventually confirmed.

By that point, West Ham had made a clear edge in class tell.

After a disappointing opening, Kudus and Lucas Paqueta's invention was too much for Luton, who found themselves chasing shadows as the home side exploited growing gaps in the visitors' midfield.

Bowen had opportunities to get the goal he needs to take the outright lead for most goals in a single Premier League season for West Ham.

He will have another opportunity at Manchester City on the final day but for now he remains level with Paolo di Canio on 16 after Kaminski kept out his best effort with his legs in stoppage time.

Michael Olise scored his 10th Premier League goal of the season as Crystal Palace beat Wolves 3-1 at Molineux

After scoring twice in the 4-0 win over Manchester United on Monday, Olise opened the scoring in the 26th minute with a beautiful curling effort on the edge of the box.

Oliver Glasner's side made it 2-0 when Jean-Philippe Mateta scored his 13th league goal of the campaign after tapping in from Nathaniel Clyne’s strike off the post following a cheeky chipped through ball by Olise.

Matheus Cunha responded for Wolves in the 66th minute before Eberechi Eze rounded Dan Bentley to secure the three points.

Defender Matt Doherty headed Wolves’ best chance of the first half against the crossbar as Palace went into the break two goals ahead.

But O’Neil’s side hit back in the 66th minute after Cunha powered home his 12th league goal of the season beyond Dean Henderson.

Minutes later Wolves were almost level, but Clyne’s tremendous last-ditch defending kept his side in the lead.

Palace ended the match with 10 as substitute Naouirou Ahamada was shown a second yellow deep in the second half.

Palace, who have won five of their last six, have now climbed above Wolves and into 12th place in the Premier League.

Nottingham Forest 2-3 Chelsea - MATCH REPORT

Nottingham Forest missed the chance to secure Premier League safety after losing to Chelsea in a five-goal thriller at the City Ground.

A resurgent Chelsea took the lead through their first attack when Mykhailo Mudryk swept home in the eighth minute after a beautifully crafted pass by Cole Palmer.

But after Willy Boly headed Forest level, former Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi sent Forest into a 74th-minute lead with a curling finish from 15 yards.

In an entertaining encounter, substitute Raheem Sterling made it 2-2 before Nicolas Jackson struck an 82nd-minute winner.

Luton's defeat at West Ham earlier on Saturday meant Forest required one point to confirm a third successive season in the Premier League.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side have 29 points from 37 games, three more than 18th-placed Luton who also have one match left.

However, Forest also have a superior goal difference, with Luton requiring a 12-goal swing to stay up.

The Reds go to relegated Burnley on the final day on 19 May, while Luton host Fulham.

Arsenal returned to the top of the Premier League and ensured the title race will go to the final day with victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Gunners delivered an unconvincing display against a severely depleted United side but did enough to secure the win that puts them one point ahead of Manchester City having played a game more.

Leandro Trossard struck after 20 minutes when lazy defending from struggling veteran Casemiro played Kai Havertz onside and his cross was turned in by the Belgian at the near post.

United showed plenty of endeavour but suffered from a glaring lack of quality and never seriously tested Arsenal keeper David Raya, as their own hopes of European football next season faded further.

Arsenal must now hope north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur do them a favour by getting a result at home to Manchester City on Tuesday.

The Gunners host Everton in their final game of the season next Sunday, while City are at home to West Ham.

Team news - Martinez returns for Villa; Klopp makes one change

Aston Villa v Liverpool (20:00 BST)

Aston Villa make two changes to the side who were beaten 1-0 at Brighton last time out in the Premier League.

Emiliano Martinez is back in the starting XI after injury as Robin Olsen drops back to the bench.

Youri Tielemans returns to the line-up after Morgan Rogers picked up an injury.

Aston Villa XI: Martinez, Konsa, Carlos, Torres, Digne, McGinn, Luiz, Tielemans, Bailey, Diaby, Watkins.

Subs: Olsen, Chambers, Lenglet, Zaniolo, Duran, Kesler-Hayden, Iroegbunam, Kellyman, Munroe.

Jurgen Klopp makes one change to the Liverpool side who beat Tottenham 4-2 at Anfield last Sunday.

Andy Robertson is not involved in the squad tonight so Joe Gomez fills in at left-back.

Liverpool XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Quansah, Van Dijk, Gomez, Endo, Elliott, Mac Allister, Salah, Gakpo, Diaz.

Subs: Kelleher, Konate, Szoboszlai, Nunez, Jones, Tsimikas, Gravenberch, Bajcetic, Bradley.

Villa played away on Thursday . I hope they have energy & it’s a good game .

Liverpool will electric at times tonight .

My prediction 2-3

Ange Postecoglou insists Tottenham won't 'roll out red carpet' for Man City despite potentially helping Arsenal

Ange Postecoglou doesn't buy into the theory that Tottenham fans will want to lose against Man City and insists Spurs won't "roll out the red carpet" for the reigning Premier League champions - even if the result boosts Arsenal's title chances.

Arsenal returned to the top of the league with a 1-0 win at Manchester United on Sunday to ensure the Premier League title race will go down to the final day. But Man City, currently a point behind the Gunners, will reclaim top spot if they win their game in hand at Spurs on Tuesday

Aston Villa 3-3 Liverpool - MATCH REPORT

Jhon Duran came off the bench to score twice and earn Aston Villa a 3-3 draw with Liverpool that all but ensures they will play Champions League football next season.

Emiliano Martinez's early own goal was the worst possible start for Villa but they equalised through Youri Tielemans only for Cody Gakpo to restore Liverpool's advantage midway through the first half. Jarell Quansah added a third early in the second.

That came after Diego Carlos produced an extraordinary miss from near the goal-line that would have levelled it, while Ollie Watkins also had one disallowed for offside. But Duran's spectacular intervention turned the tide late on to salvage a point for Unai Emery's side.

The comeback means that anything less than victory for Tottenham at home to Manchester City on Tuesday evening would mean Villa are certain of fourth. It was a dramatic if unwanted finale for Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp in his final away game in charge.

Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola has signed a 12-month contract extension to stay at the club until at least the end of the 2025-26 season.

Iraola, 41, joined the Cherries on a two-year deal in June 2023 and, after a slow start, has led the club to their highest points total in the Premier League during his first campaign in charge.

Gutted with the result and especially that Martinez howler, liked the second half but the push was too late after the nerves settled. I would take the point but it’s still a loss as we need a favour from Spurs because it’s not going to be easy at Crystal Palace.

City will crush spurs . Villa may be hosting the likes of Barcelona or Bayern next season in champions league . This is the pinnacle of club football. Well deserved!

Getting CL is make or break for Villa I think.

You look at spurs and then generate loads monet through their stadium through football and other events. It's just their owners don't spend.

For villa finishing 4th. Plus the revenu from 8 guaranteed CL fixtures would mean maybe around 200M to spend on massively improving the squad.

Yeah at start of season target would have been Europa places. But to go up a level the CL money would help Villla more so than spurs.

Big game coming up between Tottenham and Manchester City. Champions League spot up for grab for Tottenham while a win for Manchester City will give them huge boost to win the league title.

Spurs have started brightly, no doubts about the players/managers intentions for this game
Spurs usually start game well for 1st 10-15 mins, depends if they can sustain it.

They started brightly in Arsenal game

I get that but if they were planning on chucking it I think it would be a bit apparent

If anything I think they are benefitting from playing with some freedom and no pressure

Spurs ain't getting help from crowd it's like a testimonial game. Even with a hard tackle or two normal crowd would be screaming.

Spurs have to won game to try and get top 4. So they have something to play for depends how badly they want to win.

Very passive dull game so far

A good game for Arsenal so far, it’s 0-0. A spurs goal next and the title is fully tilted towards Arsenal .

This will be sport at its finest, can a champion team win in 45 mins, as every min will increase the pressure on them .

KDB is they key, special superpower. Spurs dominate him, they can draw or win. If they take their eyes off him , he will deliver something.

Arsenal have had the rub of the green this year, it might be destined.

False hope. Someone like Oscar bobb will come and score or Alvarez

City know they have to push the game at somepoint and try and score. Will spurs show that urgency, are their players really hungry for CL. You look at Villa yesterday and even when behind they showed desire to push for what they wanted after being behind

It would be a shock if it remains goalless , with -3 goal difference but City are an annoying team who’d win 7-0 + final match or some insane strike here late as Kompany did a few years ago.

The concern is spurs haven’t made a mistake yet , they always do sooner or later …

Liverpool were on the beach after 2 up . City are here to make history & far superior team . But you never know

Are spurs going to chase game now? Or give up like Rats

1-0 city

as I wrote KDB is different gravy. What a timed run & pass to make certain . Wow .

The loudest home stadium when the away team goes 1 zip :wenger

Tbh I understand the rivalry.

But singing stand up if you hate arsenal when you are 1-0 down is a bit soft.

Knowing spurs, they will bring a DVD out after the game and even a parade.

English sports are unrivalled , adding flair & the very best in history from the world , makes it pay per view box office .

Regardless of city charges , the high level of sporting prowess pep & his team display on the pitch has to be admired by those who appreciate competition
Scary thing is the last two City have shown some vulnerabilities at somepoint in season.

Then Pep seems to slap each one of them in changing rooms and they go into beast mode.

Last season after losing to spurs here 1-0 they clicked into gear and won a treble.

This season since losing to Villa they are now 33 game unbeaten in all competitions and could win a double

In summer they probably will buy way better players then they did last summer

Son is going to get a lot of flak from Arsenal fans but Ortega’s positioning was top notch and narrowed the angles.

But football is all about these narrow misses. Had Trossard hit his shot an inch to the left of Martinez, Arsenal wouldn’t have needed Spurs to draw/win today to win the PL.

Funny thing is Spurs have tried and still lost against a not at it City. Exactly as I predicted it.

No way were Spurs were gonna win this. Funny thing is the Spurs fans think they've had some say in the title race 😂😂.
