What's new

Mumbai Indians defeat Chennai Super Kings by one run to win IPL title

The game is under RCB control here , required rate is below 8.5 , wickets in hand , two class batters at crease .

Don't you think that yuvraj is a better option than ishan kishan.
He played two really good innings but then flopped in next two, i think MI management was too harsh on him this time.

Yuvi is past prime , I think its better to go with new players

Gayle played for his century today I guess, that cost KXIP.. I mean he didn't try to attack spinners that allows Ali to bowl economical overs.. Dugout team says he had universal boss sticker on his bat, is that first time he done that?? if then he wanted to celebrate it with his century.. anyway congrats RCB for their first win..

Good win for RCB.

Kohli may have more records in IPL but over the course of a decade, de Villiers certainly has been a bigger match winner than the former as far as IPL tournament is concerned.

why do people do this

from Cricbuzz: : Another stupendous show from the Universe Boss. While he did show unusual patience against the spinners, he displayed typical flair against the quicks with a fine display of powerhitting.

spin was introduced in 7th over, he was on 48 off 23 deliveries, spin quote is over in 15th over and he faced another 23 balls in that period but only scored 28 runs, and allowed Ali to have a good figure (4-0-19-1).. to me it was look like he didn't want to miscue spinners and lose his wicket as he backed himself to smash pacers... you won't see Gayle playing these kind of innings many times..

Seems like he keeps a close eye on every ball in the IPL.

doesn't matter, can't put all the blame on him.

MEDIA ADVISORY: Code of Conduct Breach

Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 match against Kings XI Punjab in Mohali on 13th April 2019.

As it was his team’s first offense of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offenses, Mr. Kohli was fined Rs 12 lakh.

140 . 6

8 balls left

I think the way the pitches have played , 160 will be interesting total to chase here

Bhuvi supposedly bowling at 144K lol, the speed guns has been rather unreliable in this tournament as I said before.

Bairstow and Warner are the best openers in IPL this season , and they showing it yet again here

Delhi is still in the game , but they need to get couple of wickets in the next 3 - 4 overs

Warner needs to bat till the end here , Middle order is not tested and does not inspire confidence.

This Bhui guy is batting like a hack. He should get going, or get out and give the next guy a chance.

Hyderabad needs to take on here , cannot leave it for too late . Need to look get some lusty blows somewhere here

Srh middle order is terrible. Shankar has been crap after some great early knocks this might hurt his chances in word cup squad.

SRH middle order is non existent. I think Bairstow should drop down the order. Williamson can open with Warner. At least it will give SRH something in the middle order. At the moment if Warner and JB fail, it seems to be game over for SRH.

I did predict DC would get to the play offs. They have bowlers who can bowl at the death, batters who can clear the fences , Iyer and Shaw can adjust to the game situation. Iyer is improving as a captain,it was a masterstroke of a decision to make him skipper last year after GG quit. They could have gone for a more experienced player but they backed a young player and he is now settled in the role. Also DC have a good young core which can be around for years to come. Ponting also deserves some praise as well. He has managed the players well and selected the right players for the right roles and done well in the auction.

RCB could learn a lot from DC.

I have seen quite a few overseas ‘ordinary’ pacers.

Defo a big gap. Pakistan bowlers will be like the icing for the IPL if I am being honest.

Seems like he keeps a close eye on every ball in the IPL.

He is covering the IPL and is part of Cricbuzz panel of experts. Obviously he is keeping an eye on every ball of the IPL. He is being paid to do so.

Big blow for Mumbai Indians! Pacer Alzarri Joseph likely to miss remainder of IPL 2019

In what comes as a huge blow to Mumbai Indians, West Indies speedster Alzarri Joseph is likely to miss the remainder of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 due to a right shoulder injury that he picked up during the match against Rajasthan Royals on Saturday. According to reports, Joseph has a tear in his bowling arm, which got dislocated while he made a diving effort during the match versus RR.

Joseph made an instant impact to the Mumbai Indians bowling attack after he registered IPL's best bowling figures of 6 for 12 in his IPL debut as he helped MI bag a crucial away victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Windies seamer replaced the injured Adam Milne, who was ruled out of IPL 2019 due to a swollen heel. Milne was signed by MI for INR 75 lakhs and Joseph was roped in as a replacement by the three-time IPL winners.

2019 has been a tough year for the 22-year-old seamer as he lost his mother in February during his maiden home Test against England in Antigua, where the lanky seamer dismissed Joe Denly off the very first delivery. However, Joseph showed his mental toughness as he opted to play the Test match. Windies went on to win the 3 match Test series 2-1.

However, MI have a suitable replacement in Lasith Malinga, who will walk in straight into the playing XI if Joseph misses out on the remainder of the IPL 2019. Malinga was a starter for MI before Joseph was signed but his commitments to play in Sri Lanka's 2019 Super Provincial One Day Tournament enabled the Windies seamer to showcase his wicket-taking prowess as he struck gold in his debut match.

Meanwhile, MI are set to face Royal Challengers Bangalore at the iconic Wankhede Stadium on Sunday as the Rohit Sharma-led outfit looks to continue their winning momentum.

Another bizarre start for RCB, I don't know what is Kohli doing with this "opener" experiment! He is not a natural opener, and he can't play freely because the team depends heavily on him!

Lolz Parthiv Patel is the mainstay batsman for RCB! That tells about this team!

It’s amazing how he remains first choice opener for his IPL side - year after year after year. It’s not as if he’s a great gloveman either.

Depending on Partiv Patel as opener is the negative step and Kohli as opener is suicidal step! RCB will continue to fail miserably with just this one stupid ploy!

Parthiv has neither defense to last longer nor has the fear-factor to the opposition till his stay! Teams are not bothered much about him... He can only be part of a stronger team as a filler (e.g., CSK), but cannot really be one of the foundation for a weaker team like RCB....!

I expected at least in this match for RCB to open with Moeen Ali & Stoinis (should have done that long back anyways!) and Kohli, ABD to follow after that... Should have tried to include WK Klaassen in the middle order as he was mad against Indian spinners in South Africa! Nothing harm in trying such things when the team is anyhow not doing well... RCB just has the dumbest & worst management in the whole of even university level cricket clubs till date!

Kohli has performed poorly this IPL. Not one eye catching innings. Only a couple of good knocks.

ABD failed miserably this IPL too. Not to forget the pathetic RCB bowling.

Decision to open has done bad to both his confidence and team! It has affected his form going into the World Cup! (And his captaincy too!)

AB’s runout cost RCB 10-15 runs. Although, looking at this MI start it probably won’t have made much of a difference anyway.

53 required from 6 overs

Batsmen should not let this go to far , they need to take charge right now.

Mumbai Indians require another 31 runs with 6 wickets and 18 balls remaining

This over has to go for 10 - 12 runs otherwise pressure will be too much

Mum Indians won by 5 wickets (with 6 balls remaining).

Pandya finishes the game with some big lusty blows.

Kohli wanted Saini to bowl but changed to Negi as per advice from Nehra ji in the dugout. Who bowls a spinner vs Pandya? This sums up Kohli the captain

Mumbai coming into form.

Kohli should have stuck to his instincts. Negi hadn't bowled great in the game. Also Hardik will smash most spinners on that ground. Pathetic captaincy.

What is this non-sense with Kohli's captaincy with senior players ghost captaining and coaches instructing from dug-out! Well he should collect all those inputs & discuss strategies off the field before the innings begins and be ready to lead the team! Otherwise he should quit the captaincy! Wonder what happens in the long world cup coming up (It is almost like IPL with so many matches :)) )

I cannot believe that Mayank Agarwal has not been tested for the Middle order slot till now in ODI's and T20's. This guy has all the shots in the book and he is super aggressive. Exactly what India needed.

I wonder, why they didn't consider M Agarwal. If IPL is the benchmark, then this guy should definitely pass before DK. KL can keep, therefore back-up WK shouldn't be the reason I guess.

Looks like KL Rahul is under immense pressure after being selected for World Cup!

DK has been in the good books of Kohli , he has lot of faith in him.

The key to this chase is that is to keep required rate under control , needs to keep it below 11 an over
