Nawaz Sharif in London due to illness - Discussion Thread

LAHORE: A fresh picture of ‘ailing’ former prime minister Nawaz Sharif taking tea at a London restaurant along with some members of his family, which went viral on social media on Monday, may cause problems for him in securing extension in his stay abroad from the PTI-led Punjab government which has become sceptical about the ‘serious nature’ of his health.

Federal Science Minister Fawad Chaudhry uploaded the leaked photo on his Twitter account in which the PML-N supremo appeared to be looking quite stable. Making a satirical comment, the outspoken minister said: “In London’s intensive care unit, the treatment against plundering is underway and all patients present (there) are feeling better.”

The picture was also reportedly discussed at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad. At the time of Mr Sharif’s departure for London in November, PM Khan had made a dig at him, saying doctors were of the opinion that “this man could die any minute if he did not go abroad for treatment. But he suddenly recovered and looked perfectly fine as he got a glimpse of the London-bound air ambulance.”

As the picture went viral, the Buzdar administration swung into action and sought latest reports about Mr Sharif’s health from his personal physician Dr Adnan Khan so that it could decide on his application seeking extension to stay abroad for treatment.

Punjab govt seeks fresh medical reports; Hussain defends Nawaz’s restaurant visit

The PML-N chided the PTI leaders for doing politics on Mr Sharif’s health, saying the government should come out from “Sharif phobia” and concentrate on addressing important issues facing the country.

“Doctors have advised Nawaz Sharif to go out for change of environment. They insist that staying indoors will not be good for his health. Therefore, Mr Sharif has started going out. On Sunday, Mr Sharif along with his family members had a walk to catch fresh air and had a tea in a restaurant,” a PML-N leader from London told Dawn. He made it clear that it had never been a case that Mr Sharif could not walk.

In the picture, Mr Sharif’s son Hasan, PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif, his son Salman and former finance minister Ishaq Dar are seen.

Nawaz Sharif had on Dec 23 sought extension in his stay abroad on the expiry of the four-week period allowed by the court to go to London for medical treatment. With his application, Mr Sharif attached his medical reports. However, the Punjab government, which could not decide on his application, sought fresh reports.

“We will submit fresh reports to the Punjab government in a few days,” the PML-N leader said and expressed the hope that the government would take a decision in the light of Mr Sharif’s medical reports and not on its bias against him. The Islamabad High Court had directed Mr Sharif to seek Punjab government’s permission for further relief, if needed.

It declared that until the provincial government decided the matter, the bail in the Al-Azizia case would remain in effect, adding that the court order would cease to exist if the government decided against extending the bail period.

Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif had submitted an undertaking in the Lahore High Court, ensuring return of elder brother Nawaz within four weeks or as and when certified by the doctors that he has regained his health and is fit to return to Pakistan.

He had also undertaken to provide periodical reports of the doctor duly notarised by the embassy to the registrar of the LHC. The undertaking includes a clause that states that the Pakistan High Commission would have the right to meet Nawaz’s doctors to verify or confirm about his health, if at any stage the federal government got credible information that the former premier was living abroad despite being fit to travel.

The former premier in his undertaking pledged to return to Pakistan citing his record to face the process of law and justice within four weeks or as soon as he is declared healthy and fit to travel. “I also do hereby bind myself to the undertaking given by my brother Shahbaz Sharif.”

Nawaz Sharif, who was diagnosed with an immune system disorder, has been advised by a government’s panel of doctors to go abroad for treatment. Mr Sharif had been diagnosed with a complicated coronary disease. In London, he underwent comprehensive cardiovascular evaluation and investigations at Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospital. According to Dr Adnan Khan, Mr Sharif has been diagnosed with “complicated coronary artery / ischemic heart disease with significant disease burden. Cardiac perfusion scans scheduled.”

Hospital visits

Speaking to reporters in London, Hussain Nawaz, while commenting on criticism being levelled against his father, said Nawaz had been confined to the house and to hospital visits, but that during the Christmas vacation his hospital visits were not possible.

“The report submitted in LHC says that doctors have advised him to walk twice a day. But despite this advice, Mian sb could not walk as he experienced shortness of breath and palpitations.

“Yesterday (Sunday) around 4.30pm the family told him you must leave the house and after great persuasion he agreed. We took him out for a walk and for a breath of fresh air. It is unfortunate that it is being given a political twist. This is part of his treatment. This is why Pakistan’s courts have allowed him to travel abroad for treatment,” he said.

Reports show no progress in Nawaz's treatment in London, says Punjab health minister

After fresh pictures of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif at a restaurant in London circulated on social media raising questions about his health, Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmeen Rashid on Tuesday said reports submitted by the PML-N supremo's team were insufficient.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore, Rashid said that a special medical board looking at Nawaz's health had met on January 3 and after reviewing all the reports submitted by Nawaz's team, they said the reports had not shared any new information or any new investigation.

The former premier is currently in London for medical treatment. On December 23, 2019, he had sought an extension in his stay abroad on the expiry of the four-week period granted by the Lahore High Court. Following his request, the Punjab government constituted a four-member committee to decide on it and on Friday the provincial government sought fresh medical reports to make an "informed decision".

Rashid said that Nawaz's physician in London, David R Lawrence, had sent a letter which was "very similar" to the summary earlier issued by the government regarding the former premier's health.

According to the provincial health minister, Nawaz's earlier medical history had been shared in the letter along with a summary of the government's report.

Additionally, she said another letter was attached which stated that a positron emission tomography (PET) scan was being arranged at London Bridge Hospital. The provincial health minister added that they had offered to conduct Nawaz's PET scan in Pakistan as well, however, he had declined the offer. The letter also mentioned that a lymph node biopsy had been recommended.

On Monday, a picture of Nawaz at a London restaurant along with some members of his family was circulated on social media.

Rashid said that after she saw the picture of the former premier at the restaurant she called his personal physician Dr Adnan Khan.

"On the one hand, you say he is in a very critical condition [...] then tell us, is it a part of it that you are socialising? Is it a part of the treatment?"

The provincial health minister said that the PML-N was seeking an application for Nawaz's daughter Maryam Nawaz to go and care of her father.

"Where will she take care of him? At a restaurant? You take care of a person who is bedridden, which he is not, according to them, he was moving around."

Rashid said that responding to them (PML-N) in a letter, the government has said, as per the report of the medical board, the "documents provided are not sufficient to form a conclusive opinion".

The provincial minister added that the home department had directly written a letter to Nawaz on Monday in which it had said: "I am directed to intimate that the special medical board under the convenership of Dr Muhammad Ayaz [...] examined the medical document and concluded that the medical reports are not conclusive to form any medical opinion.

"The most recent laboratory and imaging reports have to be sought from your doctor," the letter stated. Rashid said she had reiterated the same to Dr Adnan Khan.

As per Rashid, the letter stated: "You are required to provide the latest medical report within 48 hours as it has been stated in recent media reports that you seem to be in good health and socialising also."

Meanwhile, Dr Adnan Khan shared Nawaz's medical reports on Twitter along with copies of various scans of the former premier.

Khan said the reports were submitted to government authorities as well directly to the relevant minister and officials.

This is the real establishment which rules the country

One of rarer topics where he leaves it to the professionals. Other than this, he has concrete opinions for all topics.

I was looking through the whole of the thread, and it's interesting his opinions haven't aged will. Apparently it's our fault that Kulsoom stood for election and we should trust the duffer when he tells us he is ill. Lol

How is he in London? is he getting the FC treatment that he deserves.

Why did PTI-appointed doctors declare him critical when they examined him in the prison cell? Remember - had they not goofed up, he would still be locked up.

Nawaz is in London because of the incompetence of PTI.

Well PTI-appointed doctors clearly trusted the “duffer” which is why he got out of jail in the first place.

It is remarkable how Imran Khan goofs up every single time. He can’t get anything right can he?

But your opinions on how ill he was predated anything that any Doctor had said. Which analysis on Geo news gave you that information? IK may have trusted the Doctors to tell him the truth but i saw through the duffer straight away. What should worry you is that i saw through him but you couldnt before any Doctors opinion- which is normally the excuse you hide behind. I love this line "His health has deteriorated a lot in the last few days and he deserves first-class treatment as former PM. That is all".

Do you still believe he deserves FC treatment for his illness? lol

Yes he does. As a former PM, he should not be treated like a common man. This privilege should be extended to the incumbent puppet as well.

You have to respect rank and protocol. There is no such thing as equality.

He is an old man with heart problems. You have to be a special type of brainwashed supporter to believe that he is a healthy stallion. Well you guys said the same about his wife before she succumbed.

The fact is that he got out of jail because Imran cannot get anything right. What kind of doctors get fooled by a patient after examining him in person?

If Nawaz was healthy, why did the doctors tell him that he should be shifted to the hospital?

If the excuse is that the doctors were “patwaris” and lied, then why didn’t Imran ensure that he appoints honest and credible doctors for this job?

Do you think there is a shortage of good doctors in the country who are also PTI supporters?

Furthermore, if these patwari doctors made fake reports, why didn’t Imran get this reports verified? He could have sent them to hospitals around the world and it wouldn’t have taken more than a day for these patwari doctors to be exposed.

This wasn’t a small matter where Imran’s usual negligence can be ignored. The entire trust of the nation hinged on this decision.

The promise of Imran delivering justice was at stake, and all he could manage was to find a few clowns on the streets who got conned by a patient or lied to Imran who blindly trusted them.

Amazing.

And yet somehow he is going to lead the country out of this mess even though he cannot something so simple right.

Let’s get to the core of the problem here - PTI supporters know that Nawaz is unwell, but they don’t want to admit it because the goal is to take the attention away from the fact that Imran has proved to be powerless.

All the talk of making them suffer turned out to be hot air. He couldn’t even keep them in the country let alone behind bars.

Not to mention the own goal he scored by appointing so-called doctors who either got conned by Nawaz or ended up conning Imran himself.

NS is a fraudster and a liar and there is nothing wrong except the desi diseases. Only a ***** would tell us that he is ill after watching Geo and thats what you did. The guy should be treated worse, not better than the poor because its because its his betrayal of their trust that has led to bankruptcy. You are born licker, the bigger the criminal, the more you worship them and this is shown in your every post. In the UK he dare not leave his house because unlike you, we don't worship crooks and want to give them FC treatment for fake illnesses.
IK should have trusted his instinct like I did, and told him to and the likes of Minullah to get lost. But that would haven't meant that losers like you would have said he is trying to kill the duffer. Once again, I ask you what your response would have been if IK said he didn't accept the reports and be honest( lol)

Imran’s instincts don’t function. That is why he has to take U-turns on every issue. He is as clueless as they come.

These “desi diseases” are life-threatening. He deserves to have access to treatment unless Imran wants him to die on his watch. He knows it would create a huge mess so that is why he hurriedly agreed to shift him to the hospital.

The only licker and worshiper is you. No matter what, you always make excuses when it comes to Imran and you never acknowledge when he goofs up.

The fact is that Imran completely messed up and scored an own goal when his own appointed doctors confirm that Nawaz was critical.

You don’t have the guts to call a spade a spade. You refuse to acknowledge that if Imran had half a brain cell, Nawaz wouldn’t have been able to exit the country.

There is no way Imran and PTI supporters can come out of this looking good.

Nawaz is either sick or not, and it is humiliating for PTI either way.

(a) If Nawaz is sick, then PTI supporters and Imran owe him an apology for accusing him of faking his health problems. In addition, they also owe an apology for accusing Kulsoom Nawaz.

(b) If Nawaz is not sick, then it means that he outsmarted Imran and it makes the self-appointed Messiah look really, really bad.

There are no other alternatives. You can dance around the issue as much as you want because you are slave to your definition, but the facts are there for everyone to see.

There isnt a crook you havent backed, from NS,SS,AZ,Maryam and Billo, you have supported them all. Why would any decent, person with an ounce intelligence and integrity follow crooks. Politics are not linear and Uturns are part of politics because circumstances change. Just look at yourself, everyday you get humiliated on here for changing your views-" He is fascist dictator" to he is a puppet and the things is you are not even under any pressure, your just some random load mouth on the internet.
IK trusted the Doctors, they let him down probably because as Maryam said to NAB, we will come back to power one day and we will deal with you. As Sabir said the other day, if the Sharifs dont like you they will hurt you, he had terrorism charges put on him. Its the mafia way and Doctors do get intimidated.

NS is not sick and he is humiliating his supporters that claimed he was sick. You claimed he was sick whilst watching GEO news and i bet you feel a right tool, and if you dont, what does that say about you?

You continue to dance.

Let’s assume that the doctors got intimated. They were either bribed or they were threatened. In other words, they were under pressure to forge the reports.

Now the question is - why did Imran blindly trust their verdict, considering the possibility that the doctors could be pressurized by the “Sharif mafia”?

Why didn’t Imran send those reports to hospitals in different countries for verification?

Or why didn’t Imran ask those doctors to come on live tv and explain it to the nation why Nawaz is critical, what sort of treatment he requires etc.?

These are just two examples. There are thousands of ways in which the doctors could have been exposed for forging the reports and lying about the health of Nawaz.

Do you think it is difficult for a PM of a country to verify whether the doctors’ reports were genuine or if they were under duress?

This would have been a win-win situation for Imran. The doctors would have been exposed, Nawaz would have been exposed for threatening/bribing the doctors and cult-followers like you would be doing bhangra.

However, as I said, the problem is that Imran is not intelligent enough to think it through.

It appears that a “random loudmouth” like me can find a solution but the messiah, the World Cup winning captain and PM of the country is clueless. Do you actually believe that?

Or perhaps Imran does have a brain-cell after all and he knew he was getting conned. However, he couldn’t do anything because perhaps his boss (Bajwa) agreed to let Nawaz leave the country in exchange for PMLN’s support over the military amendment.

The Doctors got intimidated or the results were forged is a fact- the simple reason is because there is nothing wrong with him. Remember they told us he was at deaths door, he himself told us by his actions that there is nothing wrong with him by the way he went on the plane and the way he swanning around in London.
If IK had got another opinion losers like you would have said look IK wants the duffer dead and he got the results he needed and you know yourself that is true. What solution have you found? You would have been 1st to carp at the 2nd opinion, telling us that establishment forged the results on the 2nd opinion. You are born licker, you support the mafia and the crooks all day and hence the constant humiliation at my hands because of your dishonsty. There is nothing wrong with being wrong, its when you are wrong because your Niyaat is unclean that it becomes a problem for you.

Incredible. You continue to outdo yourself and I don’t mean it as a compliment.

So your justification for Imran not taking appropriate measures is that his ‘haters’ would have criticized him and would have accused him of forging the reports?

So Imran sat in his office and said the following:

“I know the doctors are lying to me and Nawaz is as healthy as a human being can possibly be. However, I will let him leave the prison cell and shift to the hospital because if I verify the reports of the doctors, my haters will say that I have forged them”.

Do this make an iota of sense do you? Because that is what exactly what you are trying to imply here.

Are you even listening to yourself?

If Imran would have exposed the doctors and the Sharifs (for bribing/pressurizing the doctors), his haters would have criticized him, but the end result would have been that Nawaz would still be rotting in jail.

But now, since Imran didn’t have the intelligence to take prudent measures to prevent Nawaz from tricking his way out of jail, Nawaz is dining at restaurants in London while Imran and his supporters are licking their wounds.

Which outcome do you think would have been better? The one where Imran would be criticized for forging reports but Nawaz would have been rotting in jail

OR

The current outcome where Imran is being criticized for getting duped while Nawaz is dining in London restaurants?

So Imran allowed Nawaz to leave the prison and relax in London to protect himself from allegations of forgery? Really?

Once again - are you even listening to yourself?

The whole narrative was created by a corrupt media that he was ill, it was a planned campaign which the idiots like you brought, the results were faked( NS showed that when he walked onto the plane), if IK had re tests done, you and your ilk( the mafia **** lickers would have been up in arms) saying he is trying to kill him. Look at the Minullahs questions and you know what i mean.
IK is too trusting but these crooks are frauds and nothing can save them, and NS maybe enjoying his lies, but be careful what you wish for, karma as they say is bit**.

You mean Imran Khan and PTI as well? It appears that they also bought the narrative and thus facilitated his release from prison.

So again, Imran didn’t verify the reports because certain sections would have accused him of trying to kill Nawaz?

So he allowed Nawaz to relax in London (instead of rotting in his cell) in order to protect himself from accusations?

Imran is not trusting. He is filled with venom and hatred which he has spread in his cult-followers like a deadly virus.

He either got duped, or Nawaz is actually sick or his masters facilitated Nawaz’s exit as part of a deal.

In any case, only one party is humiliated here. Imran and his cult-followers, who made a lot of tall claims over how they will serve justice and make these crooks pay.

Looks like justice in Youthopian world is going to restaurants in London.

LONDON: The son of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo, Hussain Nawaz, on Wednesday criticised Prime Minister Imran Khan and the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) for focusing on settling scores and petty issues instead of matters affecting the public.

“It is incorrect that [Nawaz Sharif’s] medical reports were not submitted to the government. The latest reports have been submitted to the court as well as the relevant government representatives. Despite this, it is unfortunate that press conferences are being held [...] This goes to show that it is Mr Imran Khan’s personal revenge [against Mr Sharif], nothing else,” Mr Hussain said to reporters.

When asked to comment on the issue of Maryam Nawaz’s application to have her name removed from the ECL, he said: “This is the personal score of Imran Khan; can he not see beyond Nawaz Sharif and his daughter? Did he not see the reports of a man who took his life because he could not afford to buy warm clothes for his children? I could not sleep at night when I heard that. Mr Khan should avoid petty politics and focus on the problems affecting the people.”

Mr Hussain’s comments came in the aftermath of bickering among leaders of the ruling PTI and the main opposition party over the London cafe photo. On Tuesday, the PML-N submitted a letter from a leading cardiac surgeon, terming the former premier’s stay in the UK ‘vital’ for his health management.

In the renewed tirade against the Sharif family, Prime Minister Khan joined his cabinet members Firdous Ashiq Awan, Shahzad Akbar and Faisal Vawda besides Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid in criticising Mr Sharif’s health in the wake of the photo.

Says doctors have advised ex-PM to walk twice a day

“The Sharif family is a fraud,” Mr Khan was quoted by a private TV channel as having said in a cabinet meeting in Islamabad. The premier made the comment when he was asked by a cabinet member whether he had seen the restaurant picture of Mr Sharif.

About visit to the café, the PML-N had said that Mr Sharif went out for a “change of environment” on doctors’ advice. They insisted that staying indoors would not be good for his health.

Mr Hussain said doctors had advised his father to walk twice a day. “But despite this advice, Mian sahib could not walk as he experienced breathing problems and palpitations,” he added.

Mr Sharif arrived in London on Nov 19 along with his brother Shahbaz Sharif after the government and courts granted him permission to travel abroad on medical grounds. He and members of his family have consulted several doctors, including those who specialise in cardiac issues and immune disorders.

He arrived in London three weeks after he was granted bail by the Islamabad High Court in the Al-Azizia case on medical grounds.

Mr Sharif is trying to secure an extension in his stay abroad from the Punjab government, which had expressed reservations about the serious nature of his health. On Dec 23, he had sought extension in his stay abroad on the expiry of the four-week period allowed by the court to visit London for medical treatment.

With his application, Mr Sharif attached his medical reports, but the Punjab government sought fresh reports.

We are going around in circles because You are a guy that gave your diagnosis by watching Geo TV (lol) so my question to you is whether you still believe he is ill?

We are not going in circles. You are finding new ways to embarrass yourself and butcher your own narrative because you don’t have the guts to say that Imran goofed up in spectacular fashion.

Since you believe that Nawaz is faking it, you should muster enough courage to acknowledge that Imran’s schoolboy blunders facilitated his exit from the prison and the country.

He is now dining in London instead of rotting in prison because it doesn’t take much to dupe Imran.

You cannot give “diagnosis” unless you examine the patient in person or view his report. I didn’t have access to either so I went by the verdict of the PTI-appointed doctors. That is the professional protocol.

It is not about Geo. I know you have a phobia of Geo because of how they expose PTI’s fake tabdeeli, but other channels including the cronies of PTI stated that PTI-appointed doctors have examined his condition and agreed to shift him to the Services Hospital in Lahore.

As far as the notion that he didn’t look sick etc., well that means nothing in the field of medicine.

There is no such thing as looking or not looking sick because you cannot jump to conclusions without examinations. Two people can “look” completely different with the same disease.

However, if you think that Nawaz is faking it, then you should direct your vitriol at Imran Khan for choosing clowns to examine Nawaz and for not verifying the credibility of their reports.

Had Imran taken the necessary measures, Nawaz wouldn’t have had an excuse to leave the prison let alone the country.

Your justification that Imran didn’t do it because he would be criticized anyway is the most ridiculous attempt at straw-clutching I have seen in quite a bit, and I am sure even you felt embarrassed when you made that point.

Unfortunately, as I said, criticizing Imran for his blunders that facilitated Nawaz’s exit would require guts which you lack in abundance. I know you worship him but please don’t humiliate yourself for his sake.

You are, you decided that he was ill by watching Geo news, you told me that I was wrong before any medical board, so you can't even hide behind the Other Doctors. I told you he was a fraud. Remind me who was wrong. And why are you running, is ill or not?

Edit
Is he ill or not? If you could tell us before that he was ill based on watching Geo news, I am sure you can still give an opinion today(lol).

Can you not read?

Geo News stated that PTI appointed doctors confirmed that he was critical and thus recommended that he should be shifted to a hospital.

You said he is a fraud and you still believe that, so then please explain why he managed to trick Imran into leaving the country?

Why didn’t Imran take the necessary measures to ensure that Nawaz doesn’t trick his way out of prison?

Imran has made his political career out of insulting and abusing Nawaz, but somehow, it didn’t cross his brilliant mind that Nawaz could use deception to get himself out of his prison cell? Do you actually believe that?

I am not running, you are. You are the one who said that “we are running in circles” and hoped that I won’t reply and you can escape, and your replies are getting shorter and weaker as you continue to get cornered.

Don’t worry, I won’t embarrass you forever. I understand that it is not easy for your criticize the man you worship, but at least have enough self-respect to not go to ridiculous lengths to defend him when he has blatantly screwed up.

Does someone know how many prisoners died inside jail's when NS was PM?

Did anyone cry for them?

Punjab govt awaits Nawaz's fresh medical report to decide on his plea to stay abroad longer

The Punjab government has given former prime minister Nawaz Sharif till tomorrow to submit fresh medical reports, adding that in the case of a failure to do so, they would decide on his application — seeking an extension in his stay abroad — on the basis of existing records, it emerged on Thursday.

A letter written by the provincial home department, dated January 28, stated: "It is, therefore, required from your side to provide requisite reports within next three days, failing thereby, the competent authority will decide the matter of your application as per the available facts brought on record."

The PML-N supremo is currently in London for medical treatment.

On December 23, 2019, he had sought an extension in his stay abroad on the expiry of the four-week period granted by the Lahore High Court. Following his request, the Punjab government constituted a four-member committee to decide on it and sought fresh medical reports to make an "informed decision".

Earlier this month, a picture of Nawaz at a London restaurant along with some members of his family had surfaced on social media raising questions about the condition of the former premier's health. Following this, on January 15, the Punjab government had rejected Nawaz's medical reports which had been submitted on December 23.

The Punjab government's latest letter was written with regards to Nawaz's application under Section 401(2) of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), 1898.

As per the home department, Nawaz's medical reports, submitted by his counsel Khawaja Haris, had been forwarded to the medical board, which concluded that they were "not sufficient to form a conclusive opinion".

Following this, Haris was asked to submit the latest medical records in a letter dated January 6.

"In response thereto, your counsel requested this department to approach you directly or your personal physician. So, your physician was requested through email to provide the requisite medical reports as desired by the special medical report," the letter stated.

It added that Nawaz, Haris and PML-N Deputy Secretary General Advocate Attaullah Tarar were once again on January 13 asked to provide the latest medical record, which the latter submitted.

The home department shared the medical board's conclusions regarding the records which they said only summarised his cardiac imaging, echocardiography, holter monitoring and cardiac PET.

According to the Punjab government, Nawaz's haematological and biochemical reports, especially platelet count, were not provided.

"The board would like to know, his [Complete Blood Count] CBC, kidney functions, bone marrow studies (if done), whole body PET scan as well as the plan by treating haematologist in order to stabilise you for necessary interventions.”

An additional letter was written on January 18 requesting medical reports, in response to which, Tarar had written a letter saying that the reports would be shared "in due course as and when they are provided by the consulting medical professional".

"However, response from your side or from any of your representatives is still awaited even after passing of eight days," the letter stated, asking Nawaz to submit the medical reports within three days.

Taking to Twitter, Dr Khan on Wednesday said: "Former PM Nawaz Sharif had pre-admission evaluation and investigations. The hospitalisation is planned and finalised in coming week to a cardiac centre of an NHS Trust Hospital."

"He will undergo cardiac catheterization/coronary intervention to treat complex coronary artery disease," he added.

Shehbaz says Nawaz's treatment delayed as Maryam not allowed to be with him

PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday said that because former prime minister Nawaz Sharif's daughter, Maryam Nawaz, was not permitted to be with him in London, cardiologists had to change the pre-decided date for his treatment twice.

In a statement, the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly said it was very unfortunate that Maryam was not being granted permission to take care of her father.

He said purely on the basis of humanitarian grounds, the PML-N vice president should be permitted to be with her father.

The PML-N supremo is currently in London for medical treatment. While Maryam had sought permission to fly abroad to be with her father, the federal cabinet in December last year decided not to remove her name from the exit control list (ECL) in the Al Azizia Steel Mills reference.

On January 14, the federal cabinet placed her name on the ECL for the second time in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case.

"As Nawaz's health is concerning, the margin for medical action is reducing as more time passes," Shehbaz said.

He said cardiologists had to twice change the earlier decided date for his brother's cardiac catheterisation as Maryam was not with him.

Beginning his statement, the Leader of the Opposition said Nawaz's health remained worrisome and unstable.

"The necessary process for his treatment had to be changed twice because his daughter Maryam Nawaz, who wants to be with her father at such a time, has not been allowed to come [to London] from Pakistan," he said.

Further, Shehbaz said that Kulsoom Nawaz's death had a "severe negative effect" on Nawaz's health.

He added that Maryam had been a source of comfort, ease and strength for her father during this time.

On December 23, 2019, Nawaz sought an extension in his stay abroad on the expiry of the four-week period granted by the Lahore High Court. So now Maryam is a Doctor? I am sure she was kicked out of Med school after her dad got her in without the grades.

So how serious is his condition?
On one hand it’s extremely serious and needs an urgent procedure but on the other hand he refuses to go through this until his daughter is released and sent to london to be by his side.

Hmm what’s the truth and how is this not blackmail?

The questions that no one seems capable of answering without the usual diversion:

Assuming that PTI supporters are right and Nawaz is not sick, then:

Why did PTI appointed doctors get fooled by him when they examined him in person? What type of doctors were they?

Who is responsible for PTI’s decision to appoint clowns to examine him?

Now PTI supporters are saying ghar that the doctors and the lab workers changed the blood sample.

So why was PTI not vigilant and why did they not anticipate that this could potentially happen?

Why is Imran himself not responsible for this spectacular show of incompetence?

Had he taken the necessary safeguarding measures, Nawaz wouldn’t have had an excuse to leave his prison cell and relax in London.

Hence, in conclusion, the nation put their trust in Imran to deliver justice, and he goofed up in spectacular fashion.

And this wasn’t rocket science either. It was not difficult at all to get an accurate result of Nawaz’s blood sample.

Imran and his government could have taken numerous measures to ensure that there would have been no fraud at any step of the process.

If he and his government cannot get the simple things right without goofing up, how can we expect them to handle the far tougher challenges?

Nawaz Shareef is lying about his health we all know, he got away because the court instructed the government to let him go.

Totally wrong on Nawaz Sharif to still not go through the procedure and instead demanding his daughter to be his side first who also is a criminal. This is a mockery of justice system.

But Imran Khan will take u-turn on this one as well as he now takes u-turn on everything. So dont be surprised that he allows Maryam to also go abroad.

Nawaz Shareef is lying about his health we all know, he got away because the court instructed the government to let him go.

Not true.

The court decided the terms of his exit from the country AFTER the PTI government agreed on the recommendations of the PTI appointed doctors that Nawaz should be shifted to a hospital because of his deteriorating health.

So if Imran and PTI wouldn’t have been fooled so easily, Nawaz would still be in jail.

The only reason he is now dining in London restaurants much to the frustration of PTI supporters is because of Imran’s incompetence.

Because the way the Sharif family and supporters turned his health into such an urgent issue that needed immediate medical attention from the best doctors in London or else his life was in danger — even if we assume this medical Illness was exaggerated — with life and death being such an unpredictable thing and in the hands of the Almighty — had God forbid something randomly happened to your great leader in jail , the likes of yourself who are now accusing Imran of incompetence on this matter would have accused him of cruelty and responsible for the anarchy in the country that would have followed. Disagree?

Disagree?

So then why are PTI and its supporters complaining that Nawaz tricked his way out of jail, if your own leader was scared of Nawaz dying in jail since life and death is unpredictable?

The problem is that PTI supporters will never blame Imran for any show of incompetence and will always look for excuses and justifications.

He had kept Nawaz in jail, his supporters would be praising him and celebrating how he has delivered justice to the corrupt and kept his promise.

Now that he has failed to keep him in jail because he got tricked by Nawaz so easily, the same supporters are praising his humanity.

You are absolutely right that if Nawaz had died in jail, it would have been a huge disaster for Imran and his government.

The problem is that he got tricked very easily and this doesn’t bode well for the future. It was very easy to find out if Nawaz was actually critical or not as long as he was in jail.

Imran appointed his own team of doctors and either they were as competent as Hafeez against Steyn or they managed to fool Imran.

Either way, it doesn’t make Imran look good. He should either have appointed a competent team of doctors who would have seen that Nawaz is faking it, or he should have verified their diagnosis and ensured that there is no forgery involved.

Instead of deflecting the issue by pondering over what Nawaz and his supporters would have done in an XYZ scenario, PTI supporters should admit the fact that Imran handled the situation in a very amateur fashion and Nawaz showed that it doesn’t take much to fool him.

It is not for the government to decide but for the courts.

No. Imran Khan give permission to Nawaz Sharif to go abroad and he was not instructed by any court to do so. A lie was spread that court decided Nawaz Sharif to go abroad which was simply not truth; the courts have already shot down that lie. The whole responsibility of Nawaz Sharif to go abroad lies on Imran Khan.

And same thing may happen in Maryam Nawaz case. We will see if Imran Khan will take another u-turn or this time he will be honest about his promises.

That’s strange because I heard that the judge asked the government whether they were prepared to take the risk of Nawaz dying in Pakistan..

If you want to know how big a DRAMA this family is, this is a glaring example.

- Nawaz Sharif's doctor who was key architect in Nawaz getting out says Maryam is key to his health now.
- Shahbaz Sharif has demanded Maryam to be freed on humanatrian grounds as Nawaz's health is quite serious now once again.
- Nawaz Sharif has refused to be treated until Maryam is allowed to leave Pakistan.

Now there is an old clip going viral on social media where Maryam Safdar is saying that she would not go to London to see her father because she is so close to him that she can't see him in such condition. Nawaz apparently had bypass operation and Maryam was acting Prime Minister at the time :)) :))

Now if you take this family's dramas seriously then I do question your intellect, there is a reason people seriously questioned if Nawaz Sharif was really sick....THESE ARE THE REASONS!

I think PK drama writers would never put this in their dramas as it seems too far fetched and no one would take it seriously.

Having read your posts for years, Imran Khan is surely responsible for even Nawaz Sharif's heart problems because he got him hooked on to Niharis and Naans.

Why such blatant lies? Nawaz Sharif at the time was said to be CRITICAL and entire media said that each second is critical and Imran Khan was advised even by government doctors to let him go. What would have Imran Khan gained by going against courts, media and emotional awaam to keep him here and take the blame for his death??? Imran Khan had absolutely no option but to let him go, now that their dramas are being exposed, you are blaming Imran Khan who let him go on humanitarian grounds. Yes if he allows Maryam to leave as well then definitely no justification.

And I have no doubt that if God forbid Nawaz Sharif dies, you will still blame Imran Khan because he didn't allow his daughter surgeon Maryam Safdar to see him and also because Imran Khan's decision to demand bond delayed Nawaz Sharif's treatment by few days. No issues now that he hardly had any treatment in the last couple of months

The thing about your posts is that deep down you sympathise with the Sharifs and have never once criticised NS for his fakery or the courts that he buys off. Do you think Minullah should be sacked as judge for his blatant dishonesty?

He thinks he is clever by trying to paint both sides of the wall. If IK does something he is wrong, and if he doesnt then he is also wrong. I find the dishonesty of some posters very sad. If you support someone, at least be open.

Why should Athar Minallah be sacked? There are only 2 honest and upright judges in whole country, Qazi Faiz Isa and Athar Minallah. Khosa was partly good because he delayed Army chief's extension otherwise he was also establishment's man when he disqualified Nawaz Sharif in Panama case.

This is the pathetic level of these losers, when they put all their eggs in the basket of 2 crooks who give them what they want? Did you hear about how Isas wifes lies got caught out in the ongoing case. Still no receipts from the crook, just fighting on technicalities

I will not undergo further treatment till Maryam is here with me in London - Nawaz Sharif

just because nawaz is ill does not excuse him from completing his due prison sentence. if he is ill in jail, that should not change anything. he must be treated in the vicinity of the priosn, if still dies despite medical attention, then too bad

no criminal should be given better treatment than the other

Any undue delay is taxing his health, thus we will cause undue delays.

Punjab govt decides not to extend Nawaz's bail, forwards recommendation to Centre

Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat on Tuesday said the provincial cabinet had decided not to further extend the bail granted on medical grounds to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, who is currently in London for treatment.

Addressing a press conference alongside other members of the Punjab cabinet, including provincial health minister Dr Yasmin Rashid and information minister Fayyazul Hassan Chohan, Basharat said: "The committee has decided that Nawaz Sharif's bail can't be extended further."

He explained that the initial court order said the former premier was granted bail for eight weeks but said that "a further eight weeks had passed since then as discussions were underway".

"Till a decision by the Punjab government, this bail was to be automatically extended, therefore it was extended for 16 weeks," he said.

After the passage of 16 weeks, Basharat said the provincial government wanted to be informed about developments regarding Nawaz's health on the basis of which a decision to extend his bail could be made.

Earlier, the Islamabad High Court had directed Nawaz to seek the Punjab government’s permission for further relief if required.

"Till today he (Nawaz) has not been admitted in any hospital in London," Basharat said today, adding that nothing specific had been shared with the government regarding the PML-N supremo's health and the matter had been "lingering on".

He said the Punjab cabinet had decided that there was "no legal, moral or medical basis without any concrete proof" for the further extension of the bail.

Basharat said the Punjab government would now share its decision with the federal government, which will decide upon the matter.

He explained that any further steps had to be taken by the federal government.

This is IK's biggest mistake and he needs to have this crook locked up, not sitting in London, conspiring with other crooks and creating shortages in PK.

Now the PTI should not cry, they should man up and own the decision. They allowed this crook to go to London!

Nawaz declared ‘absconder’ for violating bail terms

ISLAMABAD: The government on Tuesday decided not to extend the bail of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and declared him an “absconder” for violating the bail requirements by not presenting his medical report before a board formed on the order of the Islamabad High Court.

The government also decided to freeze gas and electricity tariffs for the next four months [till announcement of the next budget].

The decisions were taken at a meeting of the federal cabinet presided over by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

“After Nawaz Sharif failed to submit his medical report of any hospital in London, the medical board rejected a medical certificate sent by him and [the government] declared him an absconder. From today Nawaz Sharif is an absconder according to the law of land and if he does not return to the country he will be declared a proclaimed offender,” Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said at a post-cabinet meeting press conference.

She said the Punjab government, which was authorised by the IHC to decide Nawaz Sharif’s case on medical grounds, had written several letters asking the self-exiled former premier to submit his medical report from any hospital in London, but he failed to do so and only sent a certificate which was not accepted by the medical board. “If he [Nawaz Sharif] is seriously ill then why a comprehensive medical report is not being submitted to the medical board,” she added.

The Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) supremo was convicted and disqualified in corruption cases. The IHC granted him bail for eight weeks on medical grounds on Oct 29 last year. He left the country for London on Nov 19, 2019 for medical treatment there. His younger brother and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif accompanied him and is in London too.

“The medical board wants to know exactly about ailment of Nawaz Sharif and its treatment and due to his lack of response the Punjab government has decided not to accept Mr Sharif’s application regarding extension in his eight-week bail [that expired on Dec 24, 2019],” Dr Awan added.

She did not elaborate how Mr Sharif could be declared an absconder legally.

However, it is believed that the Punjab government will move the IHC with the medical board’s decision and it will be up to the court to decide whether or not he should be declared an absconder or a proclaimed offender.

Dr Awan said the office of the opposition leader was also waiting for Shahbaz Sharif, who was also staying in London for “no reason”. “He is getting monthly salary and enjoying luxurious offices and other perks and privileges but not performing his duties required by his office and the people. Shahbaz Sahib, return to the country and justify your salary and other benefits being given from taxpayers’ money,” she added.

Utility bills

The cabinet decided to freeze electricity and gas tariffs for the next four months.

Dr Awan said the prime minister had directed the energy ministry to find an “out of the box solution” to increase gas and electricity tariffs and remove all additional taxes, surcharges and levies on utility bills so that minimum burden could be passed on to domestic consumers and the industrial sector.

The prime minister was briefed on long-term measures to reduce electricity prices. The meeting was apprised that power generating units were established between 2015 and 2018, but their cost was not reflected in electricity bills that caused circular debt of over Rs500 billion in the power sector.

“The cost of new projects caused an increase of Rs5.32 per unit and Rs127bn subsidy given in this regard was not reflected in the budget. Besides, in the last year of the PML-N government, the load management was cut down by 50 per cent that caused additional losses to the power sector,” Dr Awan said.

The prime minister, she added, also took notice of inadequate capacity transmission lines to bear load of over 18,000MW and that was one of the major causes of loadshedding in the country. “In summer, electricity demand goes up to 26,000MW, but the existing transmission lines have no capacity to bear load of more than 18,000MW,” she added.

National education plan

The cabinet approved the PTI government’s much ambitious National Education Plan 2020 under which uniform curriculum will be introduced in all educational institutions and seminaries [Madressahs] across the country.

It is worth mentioning that the cabinet took such a decision several times in the past.

“Uniform curriculum, bringing religious seminaries to mainstream, sending 22 million out-of-school children to schools, adults education, skill for all and reform in higher education are basic objectives of the education policy,” Dr Awan said.

The meeting was apprised that uniform curriculum for class I-V had been prepared and sent to the National Curriculum Council for approval. Likewise, syllabus for class VI and VIII will be finalised by 2021.

Dr Awan said Ittehad Tanzeemul Madaris was fully cooperating with the government in implementing uniform curriculum in Madressahs for which a programme was also being devised with the monetary assistance of the World Bank. She said that under Hunarmand Pakistan Programme, more than 170,000 girls would be given skill training.

Media workers

Following the press conference, when Dr Awan’s attention was drawn to implementation of the recently approved 8th Wage Board Award, she expressed ignorance that the document was lying with the Pakistan Printing Press for incorporating it in the government gazette and that it was being delayed there for no reason. “I through it would have been done by the Printing Press of Pakistan, but I will check it tomorrow why it is not being done,” she added.

She said the cabinet in principle decided to merge two separate bills relating to journalists’ safety, security, insurance and terrorism and directed the ministry concerned to make a comprehensive law on the matter for approval.

Dr Awan said the cabinet expressed satisfaction over the measures being taken to control inflation and their outcome in the shape of relief to the poor segments of society.

So you are in agreement with the decision then, even though you think it was a mistake to send him in the 1st place. Or are you like some on here that wanted him to go and then when he was allowed to leave, then said it was the wrong decision.

Maryam urges Nawaz to go through with treatment, says she was silent due to 'personal reasons'

PML-N vice-president Maryam Nawaz on Thursday said that she had remained "silent" over the past few months due to "personal reasons" but it did not mean that her resolve had weakened.

Maryam was responding to questions about her absence from the public eye while speaking to the media in Islamabad alongside PML-N leadership including Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Miftah Ismail and Mariyum Aurangzeb.

"First, if anyone thinks that by putting me in jail without any reason I can be scared or subdued, they should know that my resolve to stand by civilian supremacy and Constitution has strengthened, not weakened," the former premier's daughter said.

"My father went abroad for medical treatment and [when he left] his life was in danger. Now he is better than before. I don't want to cause him pain and do not want him to abandon treatment and return because of me.

"I am under my party's discipline. Whenever my party leadership, my seniors give me instructions to come forward and play my role, you will not find me lagging behind."

Maryam, who had been politically active since 2017 when Nawaz was disqualified as prime minister and was vocal about her opposition to the PTI's government, has remained silent since her arrest in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills corruption case in August 2019.

Maryam also negated media reports suggesting that her father and former premier Nawaz Sharif — who is currently in London for treatment — had refused to go through a medical procedure because she was not by his side. The PML-N vice president cannot travel abroad as her name is on the no-fly list and she was ordered by the Lahore High Court to surrender her passport in order to secure bail in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills' case last year.

Last month, PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif had issued a statement saying that Nawaz's medical procedure had been delayed twice because Maryam could not travel to London.

"Media had reported [Nawaz] as saying that he will not get treatment in Maryam's absence. This is completely false, he did not say that," she told reporters in her brief press talk today. "He was hospitalised twice and everything was booked and by chance, both times, my court hearing was scheduled around the time [his procedure was scheduled to take place]. So he said 'we can wait for a day or two, if Maryam gets permission to travel, I will get the procedure done. Otherwise we'll see once her hearing is over'.

"It's true that my brothers are with him and my sisters as well and they are looking after him day and night [...] But he is as much my father as he is of my other siblings. I want to be there with him when he is going through a major heart procedure and I'm sure he wants all his children to be with him, given that it has not been long since my mother passed away. So this is a very valid wish and I don't think this should be politicised.

"If I get permission [to travel] then it's fine but if courts don't allow me to leave then I urge Mian sahib to get his procedure done as soon as possible."

Maryam later met PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal as well, where she was accompanied by Abbasi, Ismail and other party leaders. Speaking to the media for a second time, she lauded Iqbal, Abbasi, Ismail, Rana Sanaullah and Khwaja Saad Rafique — all of whom are nominated in corruption cases and were arrested by the National Accountability Bureau — for sticking to their stance and "not betraying their leader and party".

LAHORE: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s cardiac surgery has been postponed due to Covid-19, says his daughter Maryam Nawaz.

In a tweet on Friday, Ms Nawaz said: “The surgery of Nawaz Sharif has been postponed because of coronavirus. Doctors say Mian sahib is a high-risk patient and all precautions have to be observed. His treatment continues and he needs your prayers.”

Earlier, Mr Sharif’s personal physician Dr Adnan Khan had said: “As a high-risk patient, former PM Nawaz Sharif’s Cardiac Catheterization/Coronary Intervention was postponed to be rescheduled at a later date amidst COVID19 Pandemic, as Public/Private Hospitals limited their admissions/procedures. Presently managed on aggressive medical therapy.”

Last week, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had announced moving an accountability court to declare Mr Sharif a proclaimed offender in a land case involving Jang Group’s editor-in-chief Mir Shakilur Rehman.

NAB has also issued arrest warrants for Mr Sharif for not joining investigations after being summoned time and again for recording his statement in the case. NAB investigators also sent a questionnaire to Mr Sharif, asking him to record his statement, but he did not appear before the investigation team for the purpose.

Mr Sharif is in the United Kingdom for his medical treatment, whereas Mr Rehman is in NAB custody on judicial remand.

Meanwhile, PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif said the government’s announcement of reduction in prices of petroleum products was not enough, saying these should have been reduced by at least Rs50 in the light of a massive fall in the international oil market.

Court issues non-bailable arrest warrants for Nawaz Sharif

An accountability court (AC) on Friday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in the Toshakhana (national depository) case.

Earlier on May 15, the court had summoned former prime ministers Nawaz Sharif and Yousaf Raza Gillani and former president Asif Zardari for today’s hearing regarding the national depository case.

Gillani and accused Abid Ghani appeared before the court whereas Nawaz and Zardari did not.
An application for exemption from appearance was filed by the former president which was granted by the accountability court. However, no one appeared on behalf of deposed prime minister.

During the hearing, Deputy Prosecutor General of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Sardar Muzaffar pleaded before the court to send Gilani and Ghani on judicial remand.

He also pleaded that non-bailable warrants should be issued against the accused Nawaz and he should be arrested and produced in court.

Issuing non-bailable arrest warrants for the former prime minister, the court ordered Zardari to ensure his attendance in the next hearing on June 11.

Earlier in January, NAB had approved filing of references against the former heads of state for inflicting losses to the national exchequer by taking gifts from the national treasury and not depositing them in the Toshakhana.

The Executive Board Meeting (EBM) presided over by NAB Chairman (retd) Justice Javed Iqbal had approved filing cases against former premiers Nawaz Sharif and Yousaf Raza Gilani and ex-president President Asif Ali Zardari for keeping the government-owned valuables and vehicles in their possession.

Gifts are routinely exchanged between heads of states or officers holding constitutional positions on the eve of a state visit. According to the gift depository (Toshakhana) rules, these gifts remain the property of the state unless sold at an open auction.

Rules allow officials to retain gifts with a market value of less than Rs10,000 without paying anything.

Former president Asif Zardari is alleged to have set a record within a year of assuming office by taking one-third of all expensive gifts presented to all former presidents and prime ministers.

‘Sick’ Nawaz enjoys a day out in London

Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, who flew to London last year for medical treatment, was spotted enjoying tea with family members near London’s Hyde Park in the cosmopolitan.

According to picture making rounds on social media, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz supreme leader is seen taking tea with his granddaughter.

This is the reportedly the first that the PML-N supreme leader left his apartment to go out in public after the Covid-19 outbreak hit London. Nawaz reportedly walked on foot from Avenfield Flats, where he resides, to the Edgware Road, where he took tea.

Commenting on the latest image of PML-N supremo, Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry said how the people [in Pakistan] could trust the accountability system. In a tweet posted on Saturday, he said these images were making a mockery of the country’s justice system, law, administration, and judicial system.

Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Dr Shehbaz Gill, said, “These people consider the nation as fool. He left for London with a false statement. The three-time prime minister lacks moral strength, they flee from the country on the basis of falsehood. Those people are pitiable who still hear their false utterances and consider them their leaders.”

It is to be mentioned here that his doctors had advised Nawaz Sharif to keep himself in isolation in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.
