What's new

New Zealand (344/9) defeat Pakistan (271) by 73 runs in the first ODI to lead the 3-match series 1-0

What a phenta!

They were 75-3 in 20 overs

Just goes to show how belief system works in modern day cricket. Teams are still gunning for 350sh totals from such situations because they have that kind of batting talent and depth.

Pakistan cricket is facing challenges in all facets of the game and the only way out of this is to improve the quality of domestic competitions drastically and to instil modern day professionalism and mindset in cricketers.

6 and then jack all the rest of the over. This is also one of the biggest weaknesses of this pair.

It is not impossible to chase this score from here given weak NZ attack.

These 2 need to be more positive and believe

Umpires calling everything wide when NZ were batting but I guess maybe they got tired from lifting up both of their hands.

Abdullah's inning was a bit sluggish. He did played some good shot but rest was all dot...

Zimbo should not be afraid of getting out.

In every game he is always afraid of getting out and then gets out in very soft manner.

NOTE: if your name is Mohammad Abbas, you will never be able to bowl over 135KPH. Regardless of what country you play for :)

Finally some proper cricket instead of watching the sorry state of blind sloggers slogging like tape ball cricketers

Decent batsman will not this trundler bowl 4 overs.
RR is mounting. Expectations from remaining batsmen will be to start hitting straight away.
Two of three are newcomers. They are not experienced at this level. It was job of these 2 established players to try and make it easy for them

To be honest this is a good base to chase down this target , one of them have to take one chance every two overs.

rizba firmly into game losing mode now.

Will tuk tuk around then eventually go for a big shot and get out. Absolutely mindless!

Yeah. And Irfan Khan is a proper tulla lmao he can’t play to save his life

It's been years & Pakistan is still struggling with something as basic as rotating the strike.

Same issues were there from Farhat, Shehzad, Babar, Imam etc

What are these coaches getting paid for?

What coaches? Lmao, countries like Zimbabwe and Kenya have more qualified coaches than our cheerleaders.

they are letting the match slip out of their hands. 185 off 133 balls needed now
They will blame the lower order batsmen for their selfishness

I think this is good batting.. No real risk taken and scoreboard is also moving.

twin hundreds in chase coming up and people still crying about it. 🤷‍♂️

Not a huge fan Rizwan and Babar but the hate they are getting is simply unwarranted.
Rizwan and Babar just breathe and PP posters go "Too noisy" 🤷‍♂️

All this talk about "this is a good base they are setting up" means absolutely nothing.

This is not 2007, you need to put the bowling team under pressure.

Pakistan will continue to bat like this and then expect the following batters to score 100 in 10 overs lmao.

With this selfish approach and this mentality they can't win.
They should have been chucked out after that pathetic performance in champions trophy.

Most teams double their score from 30th over. Problem with Rizbab is that they lose their wicket when its time to accelerate. Now a lot depends on Salman.

Yeah man. I played cricket in Pakistan to a high ish level and trust me, the coaches we have are less skilled than the coaches you have for your uni cricket team in Aus and NZ.
Unfortunately I'm pretty close with someone who is pretty high in the PCB, spoke to him during the T20 World Cup.

He kept mentioning to me the biggest issue is the grouping amongst the players & the lack of communication from the coaches. To be fair, he hasn't done anything to change that though lol

It is either dot balls or brainless aerial hitting (the recent T20Is, Haris is a prime example of that. tries to slog every ball). There is no sensible balance between the two gears. Even in the shortest format, you need at least one anchor who can bat with an SR of 90-100.

The poor strike rotation may also reflect underlying fitness issues. Batsman hesitant to take a sharp single owing to lack of fitness.

TBH Haris looked bad but the ball was singing and seaming way more during the T20 compared to this match.

Fitness is a massive issue but the bigger issue is the lack of intent & understanding of the game.

Growing up and playing in a poor infrastructure will do this to you.

Slept around the mark when Agha came in to bowl.

As expected the chapman drop has gone back to haunt them as well as the extras. What could have been a 240 chase is now a 350 chase & it is all because of unforced errors.

Bro unfortunately our cricket board and team is largely made up of quite literally illiterate people. The lack of education compels these type of social problems.

Arre ask him about the bhanja/bhateja/damaad quota too? It will be interesting knowing the actual take from someone within. :D

LOL if only I could tell you guys who he is... you would be amazed.

We had a pretty long chat during the WC in the US, after the India match.

Tensions were high and things were said by him but I don't see any of those things being completed now. Pretty sad to see.

Everything done in Pakistan cricket is for glitz & glamour.... zero substance.

Tuk tuk Babar continues to look mediocre. Barely any intent to score quick. Just nudging around singles to his useless & meaningless fifty.

This is another problem. Pakistan cricket is an incest ridden cesspit. Everyone is related somehow. Heck, Shahid Afridi wed his daughter to Shaheen even though, from the outside, they would seem completely incompatible given their completely different upbringings and background.
