Absolutely, Rauf is more deserving than Asif who was caught multiple time with steroids and opium, let's see how Rauf does tomorrow

Awsome to see farhat scored a 50 so his selection is a must then as other 2 openers didnt do a good thing. so i think it will be farhat n butt to go in the 1st test and young fawad also got some runs so he could also be selected and thats good to see. sad to see yousuf n umer akmal didnt scored runs.

so my team for the 1st test

9 GUL/ Rauf

we need to go with full bowling strength but one has to sit out and looking at rauf picking up wickets we cant ignore him.

No surprise that Fawad top scored. With the amount of shafting and shifting that he's endured, it's about time they asked him where he'd like to bat. I think he deserves that.

Also no surprise that Sarfraz made a quick 37 (third highest scorer). Kamran's lucky he didn't come higher up the order and make a bigger score, not that it would make a difference.

Fair play to Farhat, he made some runs and probably deserves a go. I'd stick with Manzoor though, he deserves a run as well.

Not worried about Asif, he usually strolls practice and domestic games (remember his stint in county cricket?). He just needs overs under his belt. Gul, Aamer, and Ajmal to come straight back in.

Decent practice match so far, but I'd really like to have seen us bat some more. Woolmer used to stress that we look to play out the overs (a 100 overs minimum) mentioning that was a weakness of ours (international and domestic). Only 70-odd overs played out in this game, that's not enough. Only Farhat and Fawad played over a 100 balls. You'd expect more from Butt, Yousuf, and Akmal.

Pretty hilarious that you haven't included the top scorer from the practice game. Then again, I'm not surprised.
 
We better get used to these scores I will be suprised if Pak make over 300 in the test series. The bowlers will need to get the batsmen out of trouble yet again.

Is Misbah in NZ. I heard that he is still in Bang playing league cricket.. or has he joined the team?
 
Great to see Fawad show his application and quality again and get some runs. Looks like Farhat will get a recall also.

I hope Umar Akmal gets a go in middle order.

Also looks like Rauf may play as 3rd seamer, add to fact he can bat abit also strengthens his case!

Gul shouldn't play, he hasn't done enough as a test bowler. Ajmal beats Kaneria anyday of the week
 
Yaar Misbah select hoga to kheley ga naa?

Iqbal Qasim has made it very clear that they won't name a replacement for YK until talking to Ijaz Butt who arrives back from the UK on Saturday. So there aint no way even if he is selected that he'll make it there in time for the 1st test which starts on Tuesday. Apparently there is some friction going on between selection cmte and Misbah as he went to play in Bangla League over QEA, and they aint too happy about it, so they dont wanna send him to NZ. Could also be a bhanja related conspiracy, to make sure he plays in the 1st test, does well and makes permanent room for himself in the playing XI.

So all ya'll who are putting Misbah in the final XI for the 1st test are making a big assumption. Here is my XI:

I just have been really disappointed in Malku based on his off field tactics to undermine YK. That to me is pure treason. And the shot he played in the 3rd ODI. What in the heck was that? He is also not in very good form lately, so there is a chance that he might be 'rested'.

Having said all that though, I agree he def would be a better choice than bhanja. Ideally though, Misbah is the most suitable test option, over both Malku and bhanja. I dont think Malik has the technique or the temperament to play tests.
 
OOps.. didn't know there's a scorecard on cricinfo :P So far we've done well. I wonder whom the selectors will choose as far as our seamers are concerned? Asif/Aamer/Gul/Rauf all have equal chances, with Aamer being the only certain one.

I take it as what it is, speculation. Now if you want to take speculation and present it as fact than more power to you. Just don't put words in others' mouths.
 
Its last day and the way NZ are playing their sole aim is to deny our batsmen some batting practice they badly need.

My man, is YK stepping down speculation as well or do you consider that a fact?

It is a fact that YK stepped down because of losing control over the senior members of the squad. It has also been reported by several media outlets that he had disargreements and arguments with some of these senior members in the dressing room. Now if you want me to produce recorded evidence of these arguments and fights then you're outta luck bc I wasn't there when it happened. And we all saw the shot he played that got him out in the 3rd ODI, that is definitely a fact.

And I am not sure how I am putting words in anyone's mouth except mine. I only stated my own opinion, never spoke on anyone else's behalf. You have the right to disagree with me.

YK is available for Australia series according to Dawn news. YK fan must be excited now.And this is not speculation, go check out Dawn news
 
Asif is getting much more overs than Rauf (almost twice this inning alone) and Yasir but still is being outperformed. Yousef should give equal bowling to be fair, Rauf will shine if given equal opportunity. Besides, Rauf's economy rate which is much better than Asif shows that batsman are being cautious on his bowling.

What's going on with Asif? Why is he struggling to pick up wickets? He used to rock on our pitches so shouldn't he be getting a lot more assistance there with more favorable conditions. I hope its just his form for being out of action for quite sometime and not losing that spark he always had in Test arena.
 
Bowl some pacey bouncers aiming at helmet and rib cage...get them out quickly!! Our batsmen really need to bat again especially top 3 to get more exposure to conditions.

I thought this was a practice match? Aren't we suppose to try our bowlers and get them in match practice?

i think the reason rauf in not bowling at all is because, yousuf may have already have decided the rauf will play in the first test, and he probably just wants to rest rauf
 
I don't see any more reason to try Kaneria, he has been quite ineffective and wouldn't play. Give Rauf more chance and perhaps give some more bowling to Asif and Arafat, don't waste more time with Kaneria.
 
Do you guys really this this warm will decide the playing XI for first match? It was probably decided before the match began
