New Zealand tour of India, 1st Test: India v New Zealand at Hyderabad

Franko is here. Being an Indian (Mumbai), he must be comfortable against spin. :yk

What a ball.

This pitch isn't even a dustbowl, yet NZ are finding it so hard to play spinners.

That LBW was missing off stump in my eyes.

The ball is turning a lot and that was an off spinner. Going straight on my ass.

Well that particular ball wasn't spinning much but still it would have just missed off stump. He was a tad unlucky I reckon.

Yea i would love to see it on ball tracking but oh well. It wasn't an absolute howler but there was enough doubt.

In one of the threads here in PP, some PPers were writing off Ashwin and Ojha as not-so test quality bowlers for India even in SC conditions(some even rooting for out of form Bhajji to replace one of these). I have said it before and say it again, these two are much more effective in Indian/SC conditions against any opposition. I expect them to lead our bowling attack in Indian conditions.

What has world come to!!

Indians clinging on to their catches and England dropping their's like butterfingers.

Most of the Kiwi btmen are young, should take it as a learnign experience on how to play on these pitches/ turning ball. Even Amla failed miserably when he visited IND for the first time :)

Well it's Kohli.................

Cant seem to do anything wrong these days. Excepting having to wash his mouth with Surf excel every match.

Kohli n MSD batted well - Pujara was rock solid else on this pitch 438 was not possible for this new IND TEST batting line up.

Me thinks if Kohli was to do it in "Aangrezi", then the public wouldnt have minded it so much.

Cant wait for him to give the English the choicest of language the North India has to offer!

I have no idea why McCullum is sent to Open. He seems to be a perfect 5 to me, even 6, though I have doubts on his finishing skills.

Top order collapse nothing new.The real test begins now , bowling pin shaped batting line up.

This is getting silly now!!! If you are not using your main spinners, get back Khan or Yadav. Sehwag at this stage is not funny. It's still a new-ish ball.

Not yet....... and the turn he is extracting is very slow, comfortable turn. He is also not flighting almost at all.

I think the risk of poor light being offered to batters stops MSD from using pacer or else he would have tried one of them from sehwag's end.

Maybe that could be it.....yes.

Or maybe Dhoni got pissed off @Sehwag taking it easy on that slip chance and wanted to get him out of the cordon for a while :))

Pathetic kiwi batsmen crumbling as usual, as i said yesterday India should have taken pity on kiwis and declared last night.

How's vanWyk, otherwise I think this is the last pair with any pretensions to batting. Infact these two are the only folks who have looked like they are playing a test innings. Dissappointed Ryder isnt here. He looked to be good whenever he was in India.

These two doing good work here. Need to get a couple more wickets before the end of day.

Kane Williamson gets out the same way he did in Windies about 5 times.

Next Martin Crowe my ass.

now waiting Van Wyk to play 6 sweepers back to back to Ashwin

Kiwis really are a shambolic outfit at moment, when do we play them next?

We are the laughing stock of international cricket at the moment. Crumbling and losing five quick wickets to basic spin....jeez. It just shows how weak the spinners are on the domestic circuit. Trouble is, I just can't seem to point out anything that they can do to make it better.

Import a few from India/Pak. NZ is a much favoured emigration choice!

Well, it's not all bad. I mean, Jeetan Patel got 4 :))) :))) :))) :)))

Picking up the tail doesn't count. Sad part is, he still looked better than Dan over the past couple of days.

What match were you watching? He kept bowling half trackers and the Indians kept hitting it to the fielders. He didn't deserve a single one

Stronger the domestic tourny! Better the test team. That is where NZ should start. And of course make all kind of pitches for domestic. India too have the same problem as each domestic state makes their own fav. pitches to their strength so they can win the tourny.

However, recent 0-8 losses in Aus. and Eng. have waken up BCCi and there is a strong chance that there will be all kinds of pitches laid for the up coming Ranji season. Also, they did change a format a bit as well to make it more competitive.

Our bowlers have done very well as expected, but must say batsmen haven't done 'excellent' job.

Given our bowlers a decent score on the board, I trust our bowlers to defend the score.

1) Sehwag, lots of hit and miss, got out chasing wide delivery!

2) Gambhir, crap jabbing at ball out side off hasn't stopped!

3) Pujara, Got out by trying to be aggressive, could have easily been avoided.

4) SRT, got excellent ball from Boult, and this is what happens when you play cricket without any practice!

5) Kohli, chased wide delivery outside off, could have been avoided.

6) Raina, unfortunate, normal human reaction has caused this wicket, chasing wide down the leg could have been avoided.

7) MSD, similar to Pujara, mistimed shot, could have been avoided.

8) Ashwin, stumping! Not needed to charge down.

9) Yadav, Run-out! run that wasn't on! Bad call, late reaction.

So if we really be picky and see the only wicket that was by brilliant bowling was SRT. Rest were just wickets that could have been avoided. However, I also must mention the edges that weren't caught! At least there were 3-4 edges that could have been caught.

So, our batsmen 'still' haven't found their 'mojo' yet. Only two batsmen that have impressed me so far are obvious, both youngsters, Pujara and Kohli! Against stronger team we would have been in big trouble with performance like this.

We are talking about BCCI here,, logic and BCCI don't go in the same line! This series win, and everything is OK once and for all!

This is a tragic state of affairs for New Zealand. This is the lowest they have been in years.
