few quick wickets will change the game again though

True, NZ know that, BMac is still not gone completely defensive, cause he knows one wicket will build pressure and make the rest fall....

India know that too, so i guess they want this partnership to go on for another 100 runs.

Inda in a strong position now, nice sunny conditions and long batting line up.

McCullum really messed this one up.

someone from NZ will have to do something amazing for NZ to have a chance

I think India wins this by 4 wickets

Kohli brings up his 9th Fifty, :four

Whatta player... proud to be his fan!

India why are you doing this to me... Didnt sleep last night, looks like no sleep tonight!

#AnythingToSupportThisTeam!

Last ball before lunch, dhawan :four

Shikar 81
Kohli 54

India 180/2

Current partnership 84 runs, 24.4 overs, RR: 3.40 (Dhawan 24, Kohli 55)

India RR 3.33
Last 10 ovs 49/0 RR 4.90

61 Overs left today,

Lunch and 35 minutes break!

Indian tail is very weak, so I am still hopeful that couple of quick wickets can turn the table.

Aman will blame it on BCCI :))

I genuinely want a few more non-indian posters posting, because i know myself and other indains are being a bit baised and excited. Would spice up things, cause i dont wanna go to sleep!

If India does not lose another wicket in the next 25 overs, the match is theirs for sure.

But 1 wicket will expose the undependable Nohit and Rahane.

India's session without a doubt. They are slowly moving towards the position of ascendancy.. Once they cross the 200 run mark NZ would start feeling the heat. This partnership is already looking ominous for NZ.

True, only resistance is up until Dhoni jaddu, no ashwin means indian tail is weaker than usual.

I hope These 2 carry us over till the deficit is around 150... Then we will be lot more comfortable

Want both batsman to score 150+

40 off Kohlis 54 came in boundaries (4s)

just 36 off Shikars 81 ccame in fours

They will come back once we lose few wickets ;-)

The problem for NZ is that no bowler is looking remotely threatening apart from Southee and he can't pick up whole ten wickets. The likes of Boult and Sodhi have to lift their game if they are to make a comeback.

Next test for India would be the 2nd new ball. They need to keep scoring quickly so that by the time new ball becomes due, they don't have too many to chase. Ideally they would want to bring the target down to below 140 mark.

Just got up and saw that the man :kohli is on song. New Zealand, are you ready for the music? His swag is as good as :ponting :kp :viv

Looks like the Indians have really dug in. Dhawan is amazingly subdued. I didn't think he would make it till stumps yesterday ….. he is still there at lunch today !!!!! So now
i would say it is 60% - 40% for NZ. May be little less. Cricket is Batsman's game and the Indians have few left and plenty of time. Southee will send down Thunderbolts after lunch, so a real contest on hand. Test Match Cricket at its very best.

I think the next new ball is due in 20 odd overs.

80 runs by then should be doable, but i think By the time the new ball comes, india will have reduced atleast 60 runs from the deficit, so target would be around 160... Even with the new ball, i think india will be comfortable, if they get to this situation without losing a wicket.

Wickets are crucial here. So much time remaining

More people on the thread, yes!

Makes it more interesting!

Good morning folks who just woke up!

India will win comfortably if these two add another 100 this pitch is easy to bat on once the shine wears off and the batsman Is well set it is a good batting wicket there is still something there for the bowlers but all it takes is application and hard work which Kohli and Dhawan are showing in abundance

I really want to sleep but I'm going to wait until 1PM. Which seems like it's ages away.

This NZ performance will go down as one of the epic chokes and their fans were saying they could be a top 4 side and now they are managing to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory

This performance will undo all the work done in the ODIs - Cricket will never take off in NZ, people of NZ don't like to lose and with the rugby season coming up I expect the fans to tune away from this series in favor of the even smaller Auckland Nines. Sell out for 2 days at the same ground a week later...

It's quite amazing how all kiwi fans have disappeared. Especially Aman was acting too cocky. He should face the music now.
NZ by now means are out of the game, they need to break this partnership to bring themselves back.

NZ played superbly...can't complain. Did you see Southee's opening spell? It will make Dale Steyn proud.

No wonder crickets not popular in NZ if you NZers hate losing you do it a lot:Afridi

+1. This is the thing. Even with india, one bowler always bowls well, but the thing is with bowling people often underestimate how important it is to bowl as a pack, in partnerships.

No matter how well a single player plays if he has no support then the whole team suffers.

The reason why india always pick up a few wickets then fade off, one bowler bowls well, the other 3 or 4 dose off and the pressure is off!

And the reason why teams like Pak, SA and Aussies have such a good bowling attack is, they work in partnerships. Bowlers come and bowl together, opposition cant just come on play off the one good bowler and feast on the others, they are under pressure all the time!

People don't care (casuals), it'll just be another loss for this "loser" team - just what a few of the adjectives being thrown around. They've always lived in the AB's shadow.

This would have been a great win for us, something to get NZ'ders to get excited, but who knows now. Just waiting to see the backlash from this loss.

Yeah I'm a Pak fan and when I said If India play sensibly they have a chance of winning I was accused of Indian fanboyism by insecure Kiwis Kiwi fans should know there's a reason there 8th in the world even Ban or Zim wouldn't take a 300 run lead then end up losing

Actually I disappeared over other reasons last night, when the game was in the balance..

We've got a world class rugby team who never lose, good luck trying to compete with that...

Yeah I know the All Blacks are a great team but I never mentioned Rugby everyone knows your the best at that Pak has some potential rugby players Nasir can be a Prop :Aloo :Paratha

Rugby is such a creepy game, people only look to touch each other.

For a genuine straight nation like us...its a taboo :moyo

Oh well, Nines on next week

Get to see my boy Jarryd Hayne!

Tempted to actually go to the ground..

Sorry but you seem to be a glory hunting fan. Cock-a-hoop when team's doing great but ditch them as soon as the going gets tough. NZ still are favorites, India still need over 200 to win. You got to back your team.

It's not just that we lost, it's the way we lost, gut wrenching it shows we'll never hack it (be a top side) at cricket.

Boys are back, lets hope they haven't lost concentration due to break!

Shodi to open, suprised.

I'm a realist, India are favorites are from here. Our only hope is running through India with the second new ball but by then they would have done too much damage.

I dont think anyone excepts someone to post on PP for every match and every day their team plays in.

I just want you here, cause your the only kiwi support i know :p:kohli

Is there any other instance of a team taking a 300 run lead then losing I'm not sure about the Eden Gardens test in 2001

McCulluam going from hero to zero in a span of two days.

he also dropped a dolly catch of Dhawan.

beyond me why a captain would not enforce the follow up in overcast condictions

Tbh I feel NZ fans pain a bit losing from winning positions is what Pak have done a lot Galle 2009 Sydney 2010 come to mind but this if India win will be the biggest choke in history

Because he is small hearted :Afridi

Never. Eden Gardens was 270 odd, the commies were speaking about it earlier.

Actually we too have quite a few fans like you who never back the team when the team is in a tight spot.
200 plus runs are alot.

I will start worrying big time only when the target is under 100 and they still have around 6 wickets remaining.

The realists aren't misled by the heart.

90 for dhawan, and deficit down to 217. Pyscologically this is good for india!

That was a massive massive blunder not to enforce the follow on with 300 plus deficit. The conditions too were extremely good for bowling.

It would be special if we somehow win this game a second time, but my money is on India atm

Kohli and Dhawan looking good and nothing in it for the seamers atm

Anderson and Ish struggling.

It was the right move, we just batted like headless chicken.

This game is India's need 200 with 8 wickets in hand NZ need to pick up 2-3 wickets quickly

Dhawan's average has shot up to over 51 now. Was 45 at the start of the game :o

Nah not really, they have been quite unbiased i felt.
Most teams wouldn't have conceded but our own commies wrote us off after being bundled out for 100 despite the 300 run lead.
