Shade of Waqar in that ball. Good effort by the youngsta beauty Tanvir.

lol he has taken some great catches even in the circle too..this is one of those and had some brilliant run outs..

Even Monty Panesar has taken some great catches. Akmal shelled plenty in Australia and England.

...and last year Aamir and Asif just could not get Vettori out!

Possibly take Rehman off and get Gul and Tanvir on together to go for the kill.

Vettori was the key, glad he is gone, pakistan should wrap up the tail now

A lot of Pakistani bowlers up their pace once the old ball starts swinging but Tanvir is still in the 130s. If he could bend his back and find someway of getting 140+ with a reversing ball, then Gul, Wahab and Tanvir would be a superb attack late in an innings.

It was hit quite hard, but should have been taken. Maybe the deflection off Akmal's gloves threw him.

"very rarely you get LBWs playing sweeps against spinners"

our very own ramiz raja

sigh

May be he's gotten used to decisions going against us, so he's shocked :))
On another note Vettori gone!!! now wrap up the tail please!

Good bowling by Rehman today. He hasn't just speared it into legstump for a change but has tried to bowl more outside off and mixed his pace up well.

Extremely hard chance

There were 2 reflections, can't blame him on this one

Shade of kamran akmal on that catch. Good effort by the youngsta beauty younis.

Was a tough chance. Goalkeepers will tell you all about how decieving deflections can be.

Why is rameez infering Adnan should have taken it?

No keeper in world cricket could have taken that.. ***

Tanvir continues. Reverses it away now, Southee drives but no run.

That was not younis'd fault Akmal should have had that he was in the right place all he had to do was move a little to his left he was blocking Younis Khan but good effort in the end not the easier of catches when your wicket keeper is in the way.

Should have been taken, LOL????

First batsman plays full blooded cut, slipped expects it to come like a bullet, on the way, it takes keeper gloves and changes trajectory and angle

Extremely hard chance and saying it should have been taken is ridiculous

Oh please, this is international cricket not your local club game. Ball was coming slowly, commentators analysing it now. Tough? yes. Impossible? no.

Impossible, no?

Commentator saying exactly what I'm saying, it was an extremely tough chance and it was a bit of a lottery

Through the covers for four by Southee. I've always thought he looks to have genuine batting potential when he plays with a straight bat and cuts out the midwicket hoick he loves.

The problem for Younis was he was going in the wrong direction, saw it late and tried his best to get a hand on. Once he got that close then maybe yes he should have grasped it.

are you talking about adnan taking it? Because that would have been humanly impossible. But Younis definitely had a real chance to catch t

Yes, should have been taken.

Commentatros did not say 'it was a lottery' so I'm not sure where you inferred that from. They said it was tough but had he taken it they would have said it was regulation. He got his hands on it, and wasn't beaten for pace - would have been a good cach but I've seen Younis take better.

given how much its turning on day one i dont relish the prospect of dan bowling to us much.

If NZ win 2-0 they go above Pak in the rankings. Big series

Could prove to be vital for Pakistan too.
Commentators said away wins are worth more, so a 2-0 series for Pakistan could bring them much closer to the big teams.

Check again, commentators said, had it been taken, it would certainly not have been regulation

He was beaten for the lack of pace, ball was coming fast of the bat and he anticipated for that, and it slowed off the keeper's glove

I know you are a good poster, but trust me, although at club level, I field in the slips, I know how hard the chance was

Would have been much easier if it came straight off the bat, although it would have been faster.

Anyways, no point discussing this any further

Tanvir is getting tired, his line and length is becoming a little loose.
Maybe time to give Wahab and Gul a run

wht is he persisting wid this flat bowler .. why not get gul in already .. go for the kill switch it around

We'll agree to disagree.

For the record, I agree that it would have been easier if it came off the bat minus a deflection.

188/7.

Chris 'The Phantom' Martin need 3 more runs to reach 100 runs in Test Cricket and 10 more wickets to reach 200 Test wickets. My money is on him reaching the 200 wickets milestone before 100 runs. :P

This batsman looks like Kieswetter to me, under the grill. :inzi
