A bit disappointed Jamieson didn't tee off with a quickfire 50. He still has 3 more opportunities to do so.

He is a proper batsman

IMHO getting rid of Sarfaraz was good riddance the guy had become more slumber and lethargic than a dead log...I seem to like Rizwan so far, his aggressive approach & mindset is a welcome change, hope the dumb management support him and give him his team

Sarfraz was doing fine, it takes time to become a good captain at test cricket. His fitness was the only issue.

This commentary team is so raw, they all seem so casual, which is normally a good thing but God I miss sky sports team. They're the best when it comes to test matches.

Agreed, no one needs to accept and embrace mediocrity, we were once a top test team and can get back there.

Rizwan and Babar can be a good combo here. As long as we have a new set of Coaching staff who can come up with better strategic mind set to make us a good team again. Unfortunately under Misbah it will never happen, he is a sleeping 🦉 and he will never be able to take us anywhere. Younis Khan should be given a chance here.

Yasir as always picking up tail end wickets and confirming his place in the next test for another century+ score!

There's some uneven bounce in this wicket. Both the precious wickets were off uneven bounce. Not looking good for our batsmen.

to the bowlers credit they have stuck to their plans well here and never let NZ truly dominate at any stage in this innings.

It looks like we will be batting most of the last session which isn’t good thing avoiding the follow on is the first target.

The fact that Day 2 is almost over and NZ are just approaching 400 tells you how boring this test match is. No wickets, slow run rate, crap bowling = snooze fest.

Lol I knew there is no way Shaheen could have bowled an effort 142 km/hr yorker without over stepping.

When you habitually trundle, bowling the effort ball takes a lot out of you

NZ have one of the most irritating tails in world cricket. They can all score runs even Boult is one of the best number 11s in history.

If this turns out to be an innings defeat... what are the chances of anything happening to Misbah/Waqar?

Too early to say it will definitely be that, but NZD have done their part in putting up the score.

But we were told yesterday that Pakistan bowlers were at their brilliant best and never let NZ get off the hook. Even during the wicket less session the praise for the bowlers was over the roof.

They will say they made a misjudgement at the toss, and all will be forgotten. Waqar is going home anyway to spend time with family. Don't think even Misbah is as glued to this match as Pakistan fans are.

that dropped catch cost pakistan at least a 100 runs. Once the score is above 400 , it doesnt matter if its 500 or 600. The only difference is the margin of defeat.

Why Faheem bowled less overs he should be working horse in this attack

Not really, Australia beat Pakistan at MCG after Misbah declared at 400+.

That’s what worries me. Waqar is away for the 2nd Test and with our mentality that means all the shortcomings of that match will be on the bowlers/other coaches. Because *naturally* if Waqar is not there how could they be following his plans/teachings.

Misbah, Misbah, Misbah... oh Misbah. I think dropped catches will be blamed and we’ll be told that poor execution was the sole reason. And that if the catches had been taken we could have skittled them for 250.

Misbah will stay till T20 WC, probably longer. One reason is his contract (PCB will have to buy out), but that’s not the main reason, PCB won’t break down to pay him off. But the main reason is that PAK might not get a better coach than Misbah - Foreign “gore” donkeys would have taken their sweet time to join PCB while domestic incumbents don’t have the player profile of Misbah - you appoint people like Kabir Khan, Abdur Rehman, Sabih Azhar or Mo Wasim ..... PAK media and buzurg cricketers first will take on PCB, then the coach.

This is not the PAK team that any coach can do their magic overnight, but they won’t get the time from “critics”... top coaches do know this - they won’t risk their reputation & dignity...... or other way PCB won’t be able to but out their dignity (can’t pay that much).

Great innings by Watling. Nice catch too by Yasir

Boult will bring entertainment one way or another.

Almost every player had contributed somewhat to their score (except the openers). If only our players had the passion to score a 70 at least...

Pakistani team smiling and seem to just be happy to be there. Ridiculous.

Zero killer instinct except from Shaheen.

Interesting stat. Southee, Wagner and Boult having the most sixes at 9, 10 and 11 in test history.

Yasir as lost his touch in the last few games/series imo.

Say last couple of years or so...no zing, no penetration, even tailenders are playing him with ease - very lackluster performance with 100+ runs given AGAIN!

Follow-on anyone?

That cringe worthy smile on Yasir Shah's face as if he just took a hattrick to get the last 3 batsmen out when 2 runs were required to win in the last over of the fifth day.

Grinding out overs with the bat is part of the plan on our home pitches. If the pitch doesn't wear the opposition will.

Agree...he has been in this team for the sole reason that he takes tailenders wickets more often than not which eventually shows up on the scorecard...then dumb selectors just look at the wickets taken and select him again for the following series.

Prediction: 50/4 folks, you read it here first :P

The gulf between PAK and most other competitive teams is just so wide, that it’s becoming difficult to remain serious here.

Lol did u watch? He bowled really well.

This is getting a little tiring. By this measure, he’s been bowling very well but with batting averages to his name. Either take or induce wickets at the very least. End of.

Looks a little overcast might be some swing for Southee and Boult. Boult hasn't quite fired yet this summer.

From 2/19 after being put in, Kiwis have done remarkably well here. It’s often easier to be wise after the events, but I’ll still say the call to put kiwis in was correct one - execution wasn’t. Opting to bat PAK could have gone to first lunch 57/5.,,..

Pakistan openers should look to make sure they get runs whenever the opportunity is there and not get bogged down.

Abid and Shan have to score runs or this could be their last series or at least for one of them.

That was quite gross Mitchell trying to smack his dislocated finger back in place. People who criticized Haris for dropping Williamson yesterday will now see what happens if you try reach for those low catches in the slips.
