Around 2 hrs to till this match starts. Though Paksitan have made it to the semi finals, this still is a very important game for Pakistan. It will decide if we win the group or come second.

I have allways liked Sri Lanka but I have supported New Zealand as well, but after the comments of Vettori my support of New Zealand has decreased.

If NL beat Lanka marginally, then Pakistan might top the group and meet Windies if SA are not totally crushed by India.

But even if we meet SA I am confidient we will beat them InshAllah, but for now let us consentrate on this game between Lanka and New Z.

For me its not so much about supporting any team really, I do have a lot of respect for Sri lanka but as far as Im concerned I would love for Pakistan to be top of the group. It might not seem like much but going to the semis as group winners gives you an extra bit of confidence. Im not too fussed about who we meet in the semis either since we need to learn to beat the best if we want to win!

I find it difficult to conceive a NZ win today.

Sri Lanka have them outgunned in every department.

Only an epic Lankan choke can put them through.

cmon new zealand :D
win win win
we want to play windies in the semis

Lankans are without a shadow of doubt are the favourites here.

Lanka Win the Toss and elects to bat 1st.

Good news is Ross Taylor and Brendon McCallum both are playing.

Come on NZ so PAkistan can play at the Oval and I can go to the game

Toss Sri Lanka win the toss and opt to bat. Sangakkara says the pitch looks flat and is hoping there's more in it for the spinners as the match progresses. One change for Sri Lanka, Isuru Udana takes the place of Nuwan Kulasekara, which means there's no game yet for Farveez Maharoof .

Some good news for New Zealand fans, Ross Taylor is back and Brendon McCullum has recovered from his damaged ligament.

Here is something new.

S Rajesh, our stats editor, points out that there is a microscopic chance that Sri Lanka qualify to the semi-finals even if they lose. He says that if New Zealand make more than 222 (or so) and beat Sri Lanka by one run, the Kiwis will be on their way home.

But as Sri Lanka are batting so this scenario goes out of the window.

I guess Sri lanka looking to put runs on board and then use an already wearing pitch to cause problems for Kiwis later.

A kiwis win would be nice, but cant see it happening!

Sri Lankan batting line is heavily dependent on Dilshan, Jayasuriya,Sangakara and Jayawardene.Get them by the over 10-12 and NZ will have more than a decent chance to restrict them to an achievable target.

Was he the guy providing info to the Indian team management that they could go through if they lost to England?

Dont know about that, but here is a proof of whatever he calculated.

1.10pm Net run-rate primer: NRR is calculated by total runs scored/total overs played - runs conceded/overs bowled. (If a team gets bowled out, it counts as them having played out 20 overs). So if New Zealand make 222 and win by one run, their run-rate will be 0.448 while Sri Lanka's will be 0.45. Hat tip to S Rajesh for that impressive bit of calculation.

But as Lankans are batting 1st, it becomes worthless.

chamar getting a chance for some batting practise...he is a good player

44444444444444444444444444444 good for him to get back formmmmmmmmmmm

:)) - I think he belonged to DLFs marketing department

these last two powerplay overs have been highly damaging for NZ they need to restrict SL to below 150 to have a real chance in this game

kyle mills must have brain deficiency problems....why are you giving them width???

well i hope the damage continues by danger dilshan :D

much much better over this one for NZ, although it also shows that SLs spinners have something to look forward to on this pitch.

anyone else here agree that vettori should audition for the new 'shouldve gone to specsavers' advert :D

80/2 after 10 which means they can aim at around 170...that would be out of NZs reach unfortunately
