New Zealand vs Pakistan | 2nd ODI | Saxton Oval | Jan 9, 2018 | Pakistan Innings

Just got back from the gym. Squatting 120kg was less painful than seeing Azhar Ali gone out for a identical dismissal just like in the first ODI. :))

Consistency is the key to form.

Plenty of short balls to contend with today,

Kiwis have analyzed AA perfectly - he has ZERO shot making ability apart from balls that drift down leg. So, what they are doing is keeping him on back foot with short of length staff outside off and then forcing him to come across the line with a little pitched-up one on line.

He'll be walking wicket from now on in most ODI, but often after damaging like 6 (15) start.
How is he still able to perform in test cricket? Does he have a completely different technique for shot making in tests?

The key phrase is 'shot-making ability' which you can do without in Test cricket.

Man, Azhar could have easily become a greater player in tests and even better in ODIs if we started off as a batter, was a leg spinner IIRC, very rare to see such a hard working cricketer in our setup.

He can wait for 3 hours in Test to hit his 1st boundary through off side. Recall his best innings in recent time - at MCG, if I can recall correctly, his first drive through covers were after Tea.

He is a liability in Test as well, if he is to bat at 3 - his only utility is to bat as opener, because he puts value to his wicket and make it really difficult to get him out, time doesn't matter much.

Hafeez may not be consistent, but there's no doubt he does have the skill to play shots against pace ... just too bad he's never been able to do it consistently and against top teams in overseas conditions

NZ making sure that Hafeez plays all the ODI’s by bringing on spin in the 10th over.

so may be getting rid of our fast and furious openers inside 1st 5 over may not be the worst thing to happen, which raises the question that why are they playing in 1st place, big inzi may have the answer.

A sign of a truly limited batsman is that the bowler lands the ball in a spot and the rubbish batsman keeps playing the same shot. Santner finishes over

Most of us know there's no use staying up watching Pakistan crawl to 300 at best (which is below par) and seeing NZ gun it down with ease. Our bowling is innocuous and over rated with the exception of Hassan, even though Faheem has good potential as well but still raw.

No desire from Babar to drive that, isolated, no movement. Terrible.

Shaba Babar.... wait kar SL ya WI ki series ajaigi phir marna haar match mein century

We are a quality ODI team, we’re going to win 4-1 SarfiBabarHaris

That was inexcusable by Babar. Two edges before it and didn't learn. No intent, no foot work and just hopeful that it hits somewhere on the bat and lands outside the range of a fielder.

It’s 2018 and Hafeez and Malik are still playing for Pakistan cricket.... under clouds...in New Zealand.
I understand Mickey Arthur’s hesitation, but what don’t we know about the last ten years for these guys

Our superstar got out on a lazy shot after scoring 10 runs, 8 of them were runs he really had no clue about

Both will get 30’s and we will waste threads discussing how they did better than the others

If PAK can crawl to even 270 today, they'll comfortably win this match.
