aj, Australia are struggling, dont bring BW in now

Strauss is Lee's bunny.

Also AJ I suppose BW helped England with their victory, warning them of Gilchrist, a warning they responded to which led them to a successful 1st innings.

lee lets one fly past strauss nose... goes for 4 leg byes...!

eng 8/0

McGrath has Trescothick caught in the slips first ball after tea, 10/1 and McGrath goes to 500 wickets in tests

mcgrath makes it 501 strauss gone

Eng 11/2 game on....

ooooh peiterson almost goes 1st ball

gud stuff from mcgrath

lee just beats bell, unlucky not to get a nick

aussies with tails up here!

Come on Belly!

jones just hits mcgrath for 4

25/5

is the ball really keeping as low as cricinfo would suggest on those vaughan and flintoff wickets?

The odd ball keeps low, but the poor technique of the English batsmen is being exploited by the great man who has exploited the techniques of the best of the best.

yes both balls did keep low...! :D :D

My verdict: England will not be winning the Ashes. As if there was any doubt :D

I PREDICT 50 All out for England - I expect to see some celebrations in the East End by our Bengali brothers

The one to Flintoff kept a little low, the one to vaughan was fine but he just misjudged the length

Amoeba, u have taught ian bell well! :))) :13:

Ah well maybe Mcgrath is just a touch better than most Birmingham League bowlers!:))

on serious not thou from what ive seen bells a neat compact player and shud be able to have sum sucsess at test level!

g jones smashes a 4 past point of gillepsie...

53/5 now...

He has good technique, good concentration and good temperment. Will be Thorpe's long term replacement.

Ponting gone to sleep.

Should have brought Warne on after McGrath finished his spell.

looks like after england bowled successfully and bowled the aussies out for under 200, they seem to have lost their magaz ! What the hell are they doing out there :13:

dont think England can even get close to Aussie 190

i bet on them getting out handing over a huge lead and the Aussie batsmen will take it over frm there
and put up a near impossible total

my bet is that the game will be over by tomorrow. England will get about 110 if KP stays in for a bit and then aussies will make 200 odd and england skittled over for 70. Has been a great day of cricket though. I told you AJ it is top class stuff (from both sides!!!)

to tell the truth.........is 92 for 7 really much worse than Pakistan did? I mean......look at our scores in Melbourne and Sydney. Sure, we messed up in Perth but you cannot compare the Perth wicket with this one!

Think about it.............92 FOR 7!!!

SHALL I REPEAT THAT FOR RH?

92 FOR 7!!!!!

and this is suppose to be England's great chance to win the ashes!:))) :))) :)))

Hello did you get the Aussies out for 190? You had them in s better position than we did and you couldn't even get them out for under 200.

i beg to differ. Did you not see the bounce in this wicket? Flintoff's dismissal is a prime example. And this is only the 1ST DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

the point is RH, Pakistan did not brag for months upon months before the series that this was our big chance, oh yes, beat the aussies etc etc.

Wheras England have done!

92 for 7!:))) :))) :)))

Look RH everyone knows Pak is missing the stars of yesteryear and are not the same team s before. Hopefully we are getting back to good old days again and some new stars will emerge against u lot in October. As for Pak v Aus we have limited resources wheras England are meant to be world number 2 playing in there own backyard against the Aussies.

Go Aussies ... annihliate the poms ;-) Aussie Aussie Aussie ...oiy oiy oiy...:27:

Precisely. In fact we knew we were going to be beaten 3nil and I was SURPRISED we had the best team in the world on the ropes in the first session at Perth!

Whereas England were going on as if they were going to win the Ashes 5 nil. That will shut up the media and put them in their place.

Hoggard yesterday: McGrath is finished

McGrath today: I let the ball do the talking :))

:)))Ok guys, lets not rub in to bechara RH too much......He's already crying in his tea, so lets not push it......I was very surprised at England's batting performance, I thought they would have had put up much more of a fight than they did.....Credit to Aussie bowling though, they didn't back down, and congratualtions to McGrahth.......

I think 180 will be a tough score to chase on this wicket and the Aussies dont' really have to worry too much, Gilchrist will get that on his own, but which player in the England line-up is half as gud as Gilchrist?

9.1 SP Jones to Hayden, FOUR, Jones begins with a loosener down the leg
side, only 84 mph and misdirected, Hayden has no trouble
swivelling and cracking the ball down to fine leg!

Cricinfo Commentary, the guys an Indian and he has the audacity to say only "84 mph", thats the fastest any Indians EVER bowled.

I want Aussies to get 500 but even 250 will be more than enough to annihliate the poms :P

Me thinks the Aussies will be plenty peeved for letting the English tail wag...

Happy about McGrath's 5 fer...Not happy that he got Tresco...REALLY not happy about Pietersen's 50...

hope they get a lead of at least 200...anyhow, with Gilly one never knows...he may explode at turn a 200 lead into 300...

Clarke is killing Ashley G here, Petersion has dropped three and I can remember a joke on this occasion:

Q: Why don't English players get pre tour injections?

A: Because they never catch anything!

Aussies will dominate yet another ashes series!!!
