Fakhar was rubbish in PSL 2024 and he opened. No one asked him to fail bad based on that failure, PCB has no reason to play him as opener.

It was a golden opportunity for him to earn his place back as an opener but he blew it and can only blame himself.

Overall, Fakhar’s record as an opener is better than both Rizwan’s and Babar’s in the PSL. Fakhar’s strike rate is a whole 10 points more at a healthy average.

Neither of them should be opening. Pakistan needs to take some risks and give more chances to players who better fit the aggressive opener mold. The best options are Fakhar , Saim and Abdullah.

The way rizwan just got out is exactly why he shouldn’t be opening. He wasted the Powerplay taking no risks whatsoever, created pressure on himself and the team, and then goes for some hoicks now and gets out. The same intent would have served him better a few overs earlier because the same shot may not have gone to a fielder during the PP.
