It will be interesting to see where Fakhar plays.

No.3 wouldn't be a bad idea, especially when Shamsi comes into the mix. He bashed him around in the ODIs.

Really want Haider to do well. This management will not be too forgiving to someone like him

Pak batting lineup looks much better than in the ODIs and South Africa's bowling is probably at BD level...

So, expecting an 18 over run chase...

Below par from SA. With that garbage bowling attack, they won't be able to defend this at all.

Babar and Rizwan opening again. Poor stuff from Misbah.

In terms of scoring quickly, that is probably one of the weakest opening pairing around the world.

Spinner is expected to cause some hesitation but we should see off this phase

What kind of opening pair is this? What is Misbah doing?

Kohli v Babar thread about to be bumped in 3.. 2.. 1.. following that 'fastest to 6,000 in T20' graphic :D

Fakhar opening gives you a left/right hand opening pair. I think Fakhar best position is opening in LO cricket.

Rizwan had some nice games but he should not be a opening fixture. The powerplay is when teams are explosive and look to score 50-60 consistently.

Old school approach from Pakistan that continues to persist.

Y'all seriously have short-term memory.

Rizwan scored a T20I hundred in the last T20I series he played, becoming the second Pakistani to do so. I agree, he's not the best bat in the world, but in no way should we be writing him off. He was a hero on here a few months ago.

Let's not fall victim to a general dislike towards a player

Fakhar would have smashed that spinner in the 1st over.

Off the three Fakhar, Babar and Rizwan. Rizwan takes the most time to get going. So He has to 100% open the innings if we want to play him in this format. Although it is the first time I think we'll see Fakhar come 1 down. I would definitely open Fakhar though.

Rizwan best position in T20s is opening. If he bats down the order you people will complain about him there. Babar has batted at 3 in LO regularly.

People on this site have the memory of a goldfish. Rizwan out batted both Sharjeel and Fakhar in the PSL. He deserves to be in the team

However I do agree that Fakhar should have opened with Babar coming at 3

Wickets in hand can take Pakistan across the line so I am not worried about slightly average run rate.

He doesn't belong in the T20 side if he doesn't open. That's a problem when you have Babar and Fakhar playing in their good forms. Misbah is going for an experiment which I don't like at all. Best bet in this situation would be to open Fakhar and Rizwan.

Rizwan is great and no one is disliking the player. It's just he shouldn't be opening.

Babar is incredible as an opener and you need an explosive opener with him with 200 runs in T20 becoming the norm.

Look at how SA openers came out and destroyed our best bowler. A lot of aggression is required in the powerplay.

This is some poor batting by Rizwan right now.

Hasn't looked like he adapted to the South African wickets this series.

Although many want Fakhar to open it makes sense for him to be at 3 and babar opening because he can score boundaries in the middle overs whereas Babar can try to find the boundaries in the powerplay when the fielders are in the circle.

In a way, this is good for Babar because he knows it's up to him to accelerate.

Will he bat outside his comfort zone? It awaits to be seen.

Sisanda carrying some timber ha ha.

Needs that Azam Khan diet!

Fair enough.

But where would you play Rizwan? If he plays this innings at 4 or 5, Pakistan automatically loses the game. Ideally, by having him open you give him a longer rope to 'come back' in his innings something he wouldn't be able to do lower down the order.

You're also right in saying that our openers need to be explosive, and Fakhar is not that. If you look at all of the innings in which he's scored big, he plays out the first 10 overs and then scores boundary on boundary. Fakhar is not the solution in T20I. If anyone, Sharjeel needs to open the innings because he has the ability to go after the bowlers from ball one, something no other Pakistani batsman can do. He's not a world beater, but he's the best we have at the moment

Babar showing he should have come in at 3. Fakhar should have opened. Rizwan at the top is fine.

It's not unfair to criticise Babar's power game. Waste of a freehit.

They guy who's on 10 from 8 should be in the middle order instead of the guy who's on 10 from 13?

Sedate start. Poor start. Poor bowling is not being dispatched. Need some real aggression from the middle order to win this.
