What's new

Pakistan [320/7] defeat South Africa [292] by 28 runs in the 3rd ODI to win the series 2-1

Our bowlers have lost the ability to bowl Yorkers.
Length deliveries will be despatched

Haris has been surprisingly good in the series after bit of poor economy in the first match.

When SAF return to full strength, Verreyne should play ahead of Klaasen. With a better platform he could've won this for the home side.

PAK regain control.

Good innings - the stakes were raised, was always going to need a bit of luck to chase this down at 5 down.

I think they have done reasonably well today till now.

I don't think so.
Should have brought on Nawaz earlier and gone for wickets.
We went defensive too early thinking job was done.

Then seamers bowled too many length deliveries.

Verryene and Malan are two impressive young batsmen. Would love to see Haider and Abdullah taking their overall game intelligence and shot selection upto that level.

In the middle overs I agree that bowling could have been better but post 40 overs they have been decent in my opinion.

Yes my issue is not so much this game.
It's going forward, we have to improve the bowling

Kyle Verreynne averages 50 in first class cricket. That's the importance of first class cricket.

See even the this latest wicket. It was a great catch but really that ball should have been sent into the stands

Guys you people are unnecessarily harsh on Sarfaraz, his experience comes in handy not just with the bat but also on the field. I mean come on, any day he is better than Playing Asif Ali or Danish Aziz or Husain Talat etc.

Absolutely. SA had the luxury of other good batsmen in whiteball cricket which Pak didnt so Pak keeps on trying to find someone without hesitating to promote the young ones.

Agree....nd here we make sure youngsters like Abdullah...... Haider ....Zafar Gohar......don't get to play.......the day we get rid of Misbah Waqar.....we will took 4 steps ahead

His bowling well today no doubt but he still has a very long way to go to prove himself and erase off his previous bad performances

He has actually been mostly good in T20s, wicket taki g bowler that goes for few.

Doesnt work like that bro. It was a slower one. Not every length ball goes into the stands

Some great South African talent seen here today, some names i'd like to see in the PSL like Andile, Kyle, Malan and RVD.

Still bowing length

Yes yorkers have definitely been missing today, would like to see more of those. However, other variations have been decent but obviously yorkers are really good to have that complete arsenal at the death overs.

Yep, just sensible bowling needed. Big difference in our death bowlers and theirs, we aren't bowling Jon Jon or Aiden Markram.

Still plenty of runs to defend.

Yes. The last 3 overs were destroyed for 56 runs by Hasan and Babar. That killed the match for me. Had SA even conceded just 30 and had a target of 295 instead, I'd have backed them to chase it.

Still prefer Hasan Ali to bowl on low bounce wickets in Asia/UAE, England and certain venues in the Caribbean where his skiddy bowling is more suited.

From SEN countries, Hasan's best record is in Australia but even there his economy is nearly 7 RPO. Harder for him to hit a hard length than a taller pacer.

Mate that looked like a normal length delivery heading down leg from Hasan Ali.

I know I'm being picky, but in the past we had bowlers who could kill off the opposition.
We need to be a little more ruthless and stop bowling short and wide and length balls which most batters can put away.

Just hearing Fakhar has been added to 2020 team...i would actually love to see fakhar and Sharjeel opening for us there..with babz one down

For sure better than Khushdil, Asif, Ifti, Talat. Danish early daysfor him. His expertise in guiding bowlers help in fielding too.

Still a good series for South Africa imo. Almost won first match out of nowhere.
They have found high quality top order batsmen in janneman and Verreyene

And Miller is back in form.

This Beauran Hendricks is probably the most ordinary player to have played for South Africa. They have upcoming bowlers like Nandre Burger and Gerald Coetzee who are quite nippy but unfortunately wrong colour.

Two new balls from both ends is one big reason our bowlers struggle. It feel it has contributed hugely to our bowling problems. Reverse swing used to be our main weapon

Rauf gets a lot of slack here but he has special death over skills. Today in the last overs, Shaheen and Hassan both got him for sixes but Rauf kept it tight and economical and made the important breakthrough of Verreynne. Before that dismissal SA looked like they were in driver's seat.

Yep, the lack of an express bowler in the South African camp hampered them big style.

Haris Rauf though has been something else this series, really has impressed me. You just knew from the way he bowled in the 1st ODI that this ground would suit him, so glad rain hasn't played spoiled sport today and we haven't lost overs.

Sounds like a fast food chain... :inzi2

I agree. Advantage which Hassan gives is that her provides batting depth and possibly one of the better lower order hitting option in him so if he can try to work on his game and adapt in SENA it would be useful for Pak. Other pacers we have dont offer anything with the bat, including the ones not in the ODI squad so that is bit of a dilemma. If there is a pacer who can turn the matches around in those surfaces than he would obviously be a preferred choice.

Hasan ali is NOT a one day bowler...but i must say without his hitting we would have lost. Babz was struggling and frustrated with all the batting then scored 63 in last four overs which is all their captains fault as he bowled 9 overs of spin in last 10 overs

Time for Pakistan to play Hasan as 4th seamer at 7 and play Hasnain, Haris, Shaheen and Qadir as the main bowlers?

Stumps flying, sound was like that they broke.

He looks out of rhythm as well.

Pace is down, runup lacks energy. Fitness issue probably.
