Lol Manoj parbakar and azharuddin in all time great team??? :yk

minus the spot fixing scandal azhar had a great record. played in almost very ODI for India. Couldnt come up with someone to repalce Manoj though. lol

u didnt answer the question though.

Gavaskar was a horrible player in the Odis , please exclude him from the All-Time list as we have better batsmen than him in the Odis .

guys. as i said the teams are bound ot change. Im not an Indian, so Im not an expert on an all time Indian XI.

The main question is though, "Who would win?"

if its odis, then this is the best Indian Eleven.

Virendar Sehwag
Sachin Tendulkar
Ganguly
Yuvraj

MS Dhoni
Robin Singh

I would say India..
8 out of 11 Pakistani players were part of 2003 wc team where India thrashed them with such a ease :sachin

Wasnt the best odi eleven then, this thread is abt the best eleven, so stop living in the past...Wanna compare the current eleven??

Ok let me make this simple .

If its a Match between All Time Indian XI v/s All Time Pakistan XI in a meaningless bilateral series of Coco-Cola / Pepsi / Sprite Cup then Pakistan would win easily .

But if its a Match between All Time Indian XI v/s All Time Pakistan XI in a highly anticipated , fully charged world cup match whose magnitude is unmatched by any other sporting event in cricket or any other sport in the world , then India are sure likely to thrash Pakistan .

India win when it matters the most , Pakistan choke when the occasion is the biggest .

im not living in the past. Or is that ur way of saying Pakistan's all time XI is indeed better?

fair enough

So in a way you are saying that Pakistan will usually have the upper hand, but India will win the odd Big game?

Pakistan would win this, world class bowlers, Waqar & Saqlain ...... two of the best strike rates ever in ODI .

2003 world cup against India??? 8 out of 11 players mentioned in OP were part of that team including your waqar and saqlain :sachin

 Afridi in all time eleven :))

Drop Afridi and replace him with Shoaib Akhtar
Drop Mohammad Yousuf and replace him with Misbah-ul-haq

Edit: that is what i would had done for Test team.

oh good god.

and who would be your wicket keeper

It would depend how the pitch behaves! :afridi

If its a good bowling pitch, then Pakistan most of the times.

If its a better batting pitch, then India most of the times.

Imran Khan would destroy the batting single handedly he did it before.

It was the last game for the 3 or 4 of them. In their pomp not a prayer

If Imran Khan will be the Captain Pakistan will win 9 out of 10 games :D.

I know it doesn't really affect your argument, but Saqlain didn't play in the game.

I think, OP's Pak team is near perfect & it's balanced side, 3 fast bowlers with 1 southpaw, 1 Offie & a leggi, who can smash a bit, particularly against India & can open as well.

I am surprised with the Indian team. My team 'll be

SRT (Vcp)
Viru
Ganguly
Rahul
Azhar
UV
MS (Cp)
KD
Anil
Zaheer
Srinath

Indian great spinners hardly played ODI, therefore is not considered. Sachin is probably one of the best VCP, for his passion, honesty & knowledge. But, probably as a Captain he stressed himself too much & expected from his team members putting his own shoe. Lara, Sobers & Viv had the same problem.

In ODI, it might be an one sided contest. If we look at the teams, batting for both side is almost neck a neck, India has slight edge in top 5-6 (Though had Z started 30 years later, god knows where he could have finished) but PAK has the depth having Afridi, Wasim & Saqui at 8,9 & 10 is a big advantage in ODI. Moin is as good (or bad) a keeper as MS (Neither Latif or Kiri are making the ODI team)

But the difference coming in bowling. I keep the debate open for Indian posters to compare Wasim, Imran & Waquar with KD, Sri & Zak; Saqui & Afridi with Anil & UV (Or Shastri, Ind can't take 5 bowlers or even Manoj, that weakens the batting).

PAK has a jinx against Ind in WC, but even without Sharjah, they have a clear dominance (Probably 2:1) record in India, where Indians are strongest. This is mainly because, on good batting tracks, those 4 bowlers make the difference.

Actually, I don't buy that Pak chokes against India on crunch matches. They have won several elimination matches, K/O matches, finals & one-offs against India. Moreover, several times, I have seen them to win back the series from 0-2, 0-1 position. I think, in last 7-8 years, the contest has tilted in favor of India (still it's probably neck a neck) but before that, It was almost obnoxiously one-sided. Also, one should remember that, due to "unexplainable" reasons, from late 80s to late 90s, in ten years, there was not many IND - Pak match in subcontinent, I would have loved to see Indian batsmen taking on 2Ws & Aaquib at their peak more regularly.

Simple answer.

If world cup - india.

If not world cup - pakistan.

India doesn't put much emphasis on bilateral series. World cup comes after 4 years. ;-)

Last 2 bilateral series

Home - 3-2 India won
Away - 4-1 :)) India won again

Wasim, Waqar, Imran and Saqi?

They'll blow away any batting side most of the time.

And then we have some of our best batsmen against their "best" bowlers.

Yeah... We'll win.

We are talking about an all time team here.... All time India vs all time Pakistan....so why are u so conviniently talking about just last two bilateral series and not the all time record that we have against u?

good analysis :14:

Yeah... We'll win.

Sachin Sehwag Ganguly Azhar will smash any bowling line up......

and then you best batting line up wont be able to chase it.....remember this wont be played in Sharjah.

We are talking about an all time team here.... All time India vs all time Pakistan....so why are u so conviniently talking about just last two bilateral series and not the all time record that we have against u?

Cuz we'll never know how all time teams will fare against each other, game is not played on paper.

if its a one off game well india might fluke a win , heck even bangladesh might fluke a win in a one off encounter , but if its a series of matches to decide the better team or which team will do better on most occasions , only fools and indian fans will bank on india , and tbh i wont want to be called either of those two :amir

Total ODIs between these 2 teams- 120

Pakistan Won- 69
India Won- 47.

So yeah Pakistan easily will win and our record against India is a proof of this.

^ on a side note, why did India stop playing in Sharjah?

Because the government has banned Sharjah and UAE for the Indian team after the CBI investigations specifically pointed out to it as being the main hot bed of fixing. There were reports, that some people from the organising committee with the help of underworld elements forced players to fix matches(dont know how true that is).

Thanks. I remember few years back Pakistan and India played a 3 match ODI series in Abu Dhabi.

yes it was versus SA i think or may be Pakistan..........but after that the government told the BCCI that not only Sharjah but whole of UAE was out of bounds for the team.

Gavaskar
Azharuddin
Ganguly
Pabharkar

lol. Average ODI players wouldn't stand a chance against Pakistan's all time greats. We would crush this team.

It would depend how the pitch behaves! :afridi

If its a good bowling pitch, then Pakistan most of the times.

If its a better batting pitch, then India most of the times.
That's twisted logic.

On a good batting pitch, most batsmen should do well, and the team with the better bowlers will make the difference.

Whereas on a good bowling pitch, the bowlers will find it easy and most batsmen will struggle. The team with the better batsmen will be the one to make a decent score.

I'm pretty sure even a large majority of Indians would say Pakistan.

Everyone knows that pakistan have had some of the most talented and greatest players ever.

ON PAPER, a Pakistan ODI 11 may just be the greatest team in the world.

So comparing teams on Paper to Pakistan is stupid.

On paper we should have won the World cup 1987, 1996, and 1999 :facepalm::facepalm:

I'll put my money on Pakistan but its India - Pakistan so who knows?

Spot on!

Ganguly

How is Ganguly an average ODI player...if anything he is up there with the best openers ODI cricket has ever seen. 11,000 runs with average of 41 is not ordinary..especially from a batsman who actually played ODI from 96 to 2005 where every team had great bowling line ups..and then 2007!!!

Haha man what do you expect asking this Q on PAKpassion :p ..

...i mean pak will have this in the bag :D :afridi :yk

The talent gap between the two bowling line ups sums up how a match would go between these two sides.

Pakistan would take this, bias isn't required to acknowledge that.

2003 world cup against India??? 8 out of 11 players mentioned in OP were part of that team including your waqar and saqlain :sachin

Waqar, Saqlain, Saeed, Wasim, etc were all in their 30s and at the end of their careers when that game was played. If we put them all in their primes or close to it then different story.

Pakistan:
Saeed Anwar
Zaheer Abbas
Javed Miandad
Inzamam Ul Haq
Mohammad Yousuf
Imran Khan
Moin Khan
Wasim Akram
Shoaib Akhter
Waqar Younis
Saqlain Mushtaq

Now that is one deadly bowling attack.

That may be true but india has defeated better bowling lineups then them on sheer strenght of their batting prowess.

If it is not an important match (i.e. World cup), then Pakistan otherwise India (when Pak. plays India in Worldcup, Pakistani players loose their senses).

I would say India..

Only if you are saying that the 2003 Indian WC team was their all-time best.

Tough question, lets make a thread about the worst indian side vs worst pak side and see how wins :)

About this thread: Misbah is not in the all time X1 team so pak would win!

That may be true but india has defeated better bowling lineups then them on sheer strenght of their batting prowess.

India has never faced a better bowling line up than Wasim, Waqar, Saqlain, Imran Khan, Afridi

Our All time XI contains 5 World Class Bowlers

Imran Khan
Wasim Akram
Saqlain Mushtaq
Waqar Younus
Shoaib Akhtar

India's all time XI contains ONE of the Strongest Top6 batting line up

Problem is our all time XI Top 6 Batsmen are equally on par with India's

:anwar
:hanif
:zaheer
:jm
:inzi
:moyo

On Paper this is by far the strongest ODI XI that can be put togather for a Nation

That may be true but india has defeated better bowling lineups then them on sheer strenght of their batting prowess.

U doubt the Batting Prowess of the Pakistani XI? :jm

First of all its a massive debate what would be the Best Pakistani 11 and Indian 11. However with bowling superiority I feel Pak would win despite India having a brilliant batting line up. Its definitely in favour of Pakistan since Paks batsmen are no pushovers while Indias bowling has always been mediocre.

Easy question. Easy answer. Pak would win at least 3/4 due to superior bowling prowess. If the pitches are flatter India could put up some kind of fight though....If it is test matches India would be clobberred.

Now the most important question - Would the match be played with 2 Pakistani Umpires of the past too ?

That changes the equation by a huge margin, you see :))):))):)))

I would get rid of Ganguly and put Mohinder Amarnath in there as he is to me the greatest batsmen of pace. Get rid of Ahzar and put Dravid in & last but not least remove Prabhakar and put in Praveen Kumar.. A team like that woulld be very hard to beat.
