Man it’s so sad to see the debate without Bob Willis anymore.

I wish he was just offered to play as specalist in SENA for Test’s. In test’s he can’t bend his back in the UAE heat anymore that’s why he retired from Tests to imo. If it was just SENA he would have carried on imo. The 5 year gap really hurt him he would have been up there as a top 3 bowler for us had he played through. He was a Wasim Akram type talent, not even Shaheen is as talented as him. Dude was bowling 145+ and swinging it troubling Watson in his peak and Ponting. On top of the once in a lifetime talent and potential he had he had ice in his veins he showed how clutch he was in that World T20 at just 16/17. To think what could have been really saddens me.
Disagree. As far as they are concerned they have 1 and a half days left to bowl pakistan out.
Also, for England it was more important to secure the draw first by batting for as long as they did as this ensure the series victory.
Yes, 1 and a half days to bowl Pakistan out TWICE. Did they really need an extra hour to increase their score from 500 to 560? No, Pakistan would never have a chance of winning the game either way. Everyone knew the forecast for today and tomorrow was not good. The way we were batting on that 2nd evening, they could have bowled us out mostly before close of play. Big big mistake by Root to not declare much earlier, will cost them the win.
They don't need the win. A draw is enough to secure the series.
A little thing called the World Test Championship rewards match wins. Why would they play for the draw when in such a commanding situation in the match. Of course they would want to win.
This really is turning into the worst case outcome for Pakistan.
If we scrape a 1-0 defeat then Misbah, Waqar and Azhar won't feel pressurised to move on. We'll be stuck with them for years. Shafiq will also be able to hold on if all his buddies are still there.
We really need the rain to stop and Pakistan to be skittled as quickly as possible so heads can roll.

If Pakistan can save this test, this is a successful series for Pak in England. A loss of 0-1 is a very fruitful result for overseas team, particularly given that Pakistan is in transition right now.
What a horrendous point of view!
You are happy for Pakistan to lose so that a player/coach you dont like will go away.
How do you think the players in that squad feel? Do you think they would like to rollover and play dead?
Hopefully there isn’t much rain. The last thing this shambolic team deserves is to escape with a draw because of lack of overs.

Dont forget we should have won the first test and it would have been a good tour. So far they have competed well, apart this test where inexperience came in the way in the first inning.
A question for the UK residents here....
How are the winters there ? Does it rain often ? Or does it snow too much ?
I follow the Premier League and everytime I see a game (in non-summer months like Nov/Dec) played under the bright sun, I always think why they can't host int'l cricket too ? Are sunny days too rare outside of the summer ?

Well forgot the different regions etc for the moment...
During the winter it gets light at 8am and dark at 4pm.
When its sunny you get frost which means the ground starts off hard and then gets wet and soggy.
So even if there was no rain and bright sunshine, you wouldn't be able to play cricket in the winter.
Funny thing removing A B or C will somehow make Pak into world beaters, when Pak has never been consistently good in its entire history. We have to demand improvemwnts continuously but also accept our limitations due to our cricket structure, resources, internaltional exposure available to our players, and lack of opportunity of playing at home to help Pak win more games boosting players confidence.Unfortunately we have some fans like these who always want the team to loose so that few players or coaches they dont like can somehow vanish. It isnt even the first time, this cycle keeps repeating with every coach and every other player. The desperation to see some people out of the team overtakes their support for Pakistan cricket team.

If this test ends up being drawn, Pak missed an absolutely golden opportunity to win the series. They will rue that loss at OT as they were in control of the majority of that match and should have won it.
Merit on selection I agree with just like Fawad career had been destroyed, and many decent off spinners are being overlooked like Zafar Gohar to name one.10 years of exile has significant effect on Pakistan development in cricket. If your grass roots aren't strong than how can you expect strong trees to grow. We cant blame the players instead its the corruption in the system, no merit in the country when it comes to selection.
Game restarts at 3:45. This could be one long session of cricket. There are less chances of rain for the remaining day.

Successful series?
We got flogged in this Test, we choked the first one and would have lost the second one as well.

Not sure about 2nd one because they were 110/4
Everything was possible.
It's true that we are not good enough but that match was still 50/50.
what do you mean good enough? I think for an inexperienced team this was a decent performance. Pakistan fans need to get realistic.

what do you mean "we". I thought you were an england fan or an Indian fan. Not sure "we" is accurate in your case.
For an inexperienced team, this test series hasnt been a complete disaster. The conditions were hard but we found some good players who have shown some ability. i wasnt expecting anything more.
Not enough data to make a claim about second test especially after seeing how competitive the first one was. But carry on!
Though I agree the series won’t be a success by any means especially when Pakistan hasn’t lost a series against England in 10 years which literally no other international side can claim. Many have lost both home and away to England in this time period let alone just in England. So losing that record is a huge fail.
I am unfortunately a Pakistani so I have to support this rubbish team.
When you overhype garbage young players like Naseem who then inevitably flop, there is no point in crying about inexperience.
There is plenty of experience in this team. The issue is that they are just not good enough. This bunch of mediocre players will remain mediocre no matter how many years of experience they have at their disposal.
This has been a disastrous series and anyone who did not have his head buried under the ground could see it coming.

If the 5th day of the first Test would have rained out, people would have ever entertained the possibility of Pakistan losing that one either.
As we saw in both the first and the third Tests, our bowling attack runs out of steam after 40-50 overs and they just go through the motions with our dud captain having no idea what to do.
The second Test was basically shaping up to be a repeat of the first Test. Only this time, England were likely to secure a 40-50 runs first innings lead if not more.
But yeah, we can pretend that we were winning that one or it was 50-50 since it was the only Test we didn’t officially lose.
Oh man wow. “I’m unfortunately a Pakistani.”
You have a solid point.
Our bowlers bowls like part timers after 40,50 overs. So another question arises here
Are our bowlers mediocre?
Are they do not know how to bowl with old bowl?
Are they physically not strong enough to bowl with same energy after 40,50 overs?
But you never ever support Pakistan Team...

Yeah I don’t see the reason to do bhangra when I know their reality and where they stand in world cricket.
That doesn’t mean that I don’t wish to see them become a world class side.

Wish and support are two different things... You never appreciate the good performance of Pakistani team.... You always say... Itz fluke or theory of Average blah blah...
Do we have a realistic chance to win this or would it be a draw?
Pakistan will have to get 450 to put a target on board, seems difficult.
We will need rain to save us and get a draw here
Abid vs Shan... who is better?
or i rephrase the question... Who is more awful?
