Pakistan batsmen resilient on rain-hit Day 4, reach 100/2 at Stumps, still trail by 210 runs

You can’t just select youngsters and call the team inexperienced and then as a result avoid accountability.

It’s not that Pakistan has bad retirements of some major stalwarts in the last 12 months or so that you can has the transition excuse

Well actually they had Amir and Wahab, though Wahab could have been considered again but as hedis not play last few series , he was not considered.

Do we have a realistic chance to win this or would it be a draw?

Pakistan will have to get 450 to put a target on board, seems difficult.

We will need rain to save us and get a draw here

No win in sight for me. If anyone wanted a win, we would need to increase the rate past 2.

The only problem is that we are so slow that if we lose a couple of quick wickets we end up in a sticky situation and increase the pressure on the middle order

There was never any chance of winning this match

Harsh to call that out.

Shan’s ok tour comes to an end.

Only one 150.

Masood has looked edgy all series. Even his century had a couple of life lines handed to him

then who do you select? do you agree that by and large this team practically selected itself with a few places that were up for grabs. At the end of the day the PCB do not play enough test cricket. Its taken Azhar a couple of matches to get into the groove. And before you know it he'll be back on the bench.

Overall we have to try people like naseem and afridi etc. We have to blood them now because our system is rubbish. Overall I think Pakistani fans should lower their expectations.

Had Pakistan not thrown away the first test the way they did, England would have panicked by now being 1-0 down.

The only positive I see from this series is that probably we have gotten rid of Sarfraz for a year at least. Rizwan has been magnificent as a WK. But like all our WKs, their batting falls off a cliff.

Such a hard working, intelligence and gutsy 18 by Masood. Once again underlying his captaincy credentials.

It seems Haweye sometimes defies the laws of physics.

No way that ball was even clipping... Right armer bowling round to a left hander, where it pitched and where it hit the pad, the ball would have missed off stump easily.

Also, I know this umpire checking no balls has speeded things up, but we should see them on a wicket or on a review. How close was the foot? Was it definitely not a no ball.

Yes I know I'm coming from a premis that all umpires are cheats but still I would like to see them.

Hard done by umpire. More intelligent and gutsy than Burns last few innings, no? Criticisms are just for Pak players, I forgot.

What's Imam's Test average even including 4 Tests in the UAE ? Both you and Junaids don't seem to answer this simple question.

I have feeling that Abid is satisfied with nice 30s and anything above is a bonus. Lets hope this feeling in water doesnt come to anything

Its not 100 accurate but its fair and accepted by both sides.

But yes lets create a conspiracy theory about how it was a secret no ball. Put your recommendation to the ICC and let us know your response

Shan after such a good start to the series have been disappointing. Should have built upon that and made some more meaningful scores.

Babar was a disappointment in this series. Didn’t score a century yet, one last chance tdy or tmw surely.

I think Rizwan, Shan and even Azhar have scored more runs than Babar in this series.

With that century ytd, Azhar is gonna stay and stay as captain for another 3 years for sure.

Abid Ali is going to get a 50 plus score and cement his place for another few tests isn't he?

A question for the UK residents here....

How are the winters there ? Does it rain often ? Or does it snow too much ?

I follow the Premier League and everytime I see a game (in non-summer months like Nov/Dec) played under the bright sun, I always think why they can't host int'l cricket too ? Are sunny days too rare outside of the summer ?
First you're much less exposed to bad weather in 90 minutes of a football game as opposed to over 5 days of a Test match.

Secondly, although winters can occasionally be mild here, it gets dark early in the winter and you'll definitely lose play.

Sami Aslam is the one who should get a chance. He has the temperament and ability to get big scores. He is also good against spin. Cannot understand why he has been discarded for all this time.

Masood’s 150 was the definition of fluke. He does not have the potential to average more than 32-33.

Imam is potentially a 40 averaging Test opener. Would like to see him work with Younis.

If Azhar is going to continue playing he should play as an opener. It just suits his game perfectly.

Azhar looks a lot more confident at the crease. Similar to his 2016/2017 form.

Evern better than that. The balance and head position is best I have ever seen and technically
he is the best batsmen in the team right now

thats ridiculous..top class athletes do not score runs via flukes..

Last time I saw Sami, he looked like a strokeless wonder which is bizarrely the opposite to how he plays in U19 and domestic cricket.

He failed against Sri Lanka in UAE in 2017 and in the side matches before the 2018 Tests vs England.

Leach or Moen Ali should replace Bess. He needs to play more first class cricket.

But hasn't he been doing well in first class cricket?

He has already scored centuries 8n Test and ODis. This is a learning tour for him, wherewven England opener are struggling in overcast conditions.

Yeah he was excellent, but then again most FC batsmen cashed in on those dead pitches and red Kookaburra.

I'd keep Sami in the squad ahead of Imam who should go back to domestics.

They need to start counter attacking. If weather doesnt become a major factor, wickets will eventually fall. So Pakistan need to reduce the deficit

Sami Aslam would do better than Shan. He will have confidence after doing well in domestics. He seemed to have a selfish side about him when it came to scoring runs and stats. So I'm sure he would do well.

No balls are an important facet of the game. For one thing its interesting to see how close the bowler is and of course there are discrepancies where the Umpire doesn't call a no ball because of the slightest bit of one shoe just a tick behind the line.

So whilst it may be all fine and dandy, it will still be interesting to see them. After all half the fun of cricket is debating the various aspects of the game, and umpiring is one of the biggest points of discussion.

I swear this is 4th time I've seen this post form different accounts..

At that time Sami used to get bogged down as he was limited in his scoring areas. It is fair enough for an opener in tests but after he used to get set he was unable to capitalize and up the anti and that is why we see he has quite a few decent 50s but no 100s.

I think he has improved that a lot in QAE 2019. He was rated highly since his U19 days so obviously he has the ability.

Indeed looks completely different player from what he looked to be in the last 2 years. Credit to MYK And Azhar for working on fixing things right. If captain scores it will rub the confidence through other players in the team.

Shan was silly for leaving the ball. Debate that rather than the fact we didn't see where the bowler's foot landed.

Expectations are high and he failed to deliver. Stating the obvious as a lot was expected from Babar as he is regarded to be the only world class batsman Pak has.

I know he had shot range limitations but we need players who can score runs. Sami Aslam is capable of getting big 100s. Shan Masood isn't good enough. We have to try someone else. Sami deserves a chance imo.

It was not just for this dismissal. My point re no ball was a general point...
Whenever a no ball has been called they've shown it so why don't they show it when a wicket falls?

Pakistan need to move on now, next 48 overs with old ball they have to score
still lagging behind and couple of wickets will be looking down the barrel

Looks good but needs to turn this confidence into form and consistency. Needs another hundred or 2 in quick succession

Why aren’t our bowlers out in the nets practicing there batting, instead of sitting around doing nothing, it’s not like they’ll be bowling again!
