What's new

Pakistan beat England by 10 wickets in the 4th Test

PAK must win this by 10 wickets - even if it takes them to 5th day for that. Botham needs to feel the pinch. Obviously ENG is going to roll PAK in ODI & this guy'll take his frustration out then.

I hope we get there before the second new ball is due :))

Or because they weren't skilled enough?

Of course pace is useful, but has Pakistan lost much over the years, by having him spray it around
4 times out of 5. And not only is he expensive, he's actually not that penetrative. Pretty poor SR.

Plenty of Tests are lost by a margin of 40-60 runs and that is where it makes all the difference if
you are playing two bowlers like Wahab and Rahat.

Skill is there, but tactics need work. But I don't think bowlers were that poor anyway especially Amir.

As far as Wahab being expensive goes, he's expensive in LOIs. In Tests, he's been good for us. I don't recall losing too many tests with this side with Wahab. He usually bowls alright on the dead UAE pitches. He's not an ideal candidate, but his position as an enforcer of sorts is very handy for Pak as evident today.

Crowd chanting jum ke khelo jum ke khelo..

I thought all Brit Pakistanis were burgers :moyo

Stop scoring runs, drag it out until the end of the day then when offered the extra half hour I want Misbah to say

"Nah, see you chaps in the morning" :misbah :misbah :misbah

Loving Pakistan Zindabad chants.

Now they are singing Dil Dil Pakistan. Oh God. This is beautiful. :')

Their problem is they're not! They are a halfway house between being what they are - British and then torn for their roots.

100+ partnership and smith wont give it up easily now. Also Lanka had a miracle to survive this far 50/5, same bowlers on them now. At most a draw (what happens if they draw to our rankings?)

I think opposite. SRL won a Test after scoring 117, having AUS in lead with 7 wickets at hand.

26/5 actually reflects that the wicket is not that easy - it was a miraculous effort for SRL to add 330 from there on. Apart from brilliant batting, drop catches & poor bowling has lot to do in that. Yesterday, AUS attacked the new ball & got away with quick scoring. I think, today SRL'll tighten the screw & take a lead, around 60 to 100. Even if AUS gets a small lead, I don't see them chasing more than 170 on Day 5. This Test has more overs in it, therefore Aussies would bat in 4th & 5th day - it'll be extremely difficult to bat on 5th morning.

Openers batting sensibly. No need to bat like its the Hong Kong Sixes. Just steer us gently to a 10 wicket win.

ECB should take care of Finn; he is going to be the main bowler in IND & AUS. Should enjoy the Aussie wickets & he'll definitely trouble Indian top order with his bounce.

Do you think Finn will play in India?

Amir Sohail on BBC. Ripping apart the English batting and basically calling Yasir a rubbish bowler.

Highly doubt Finn will get in the team in India.

Congratulations Pakistan, well deserved win and to Younis in particular. Man, our top order sucks.

Azhar Ali and Sami Aslam are good solid bats. Also Shafiq is an excellent bat to come in at number 3.

Far from being sucky..

England has to find an Opener, a replacement for Vince & a left-arm finger spinner, if they have any chance to compete in a 5 Test series in IND. For their credit, Johny has done exceptionally well. May be, may be Hales can stick as opener, but the way he got out to Yasir, don't think he is a good bet for IND.

1. Cook
2. Opener
3. Balance (It's a must that Balance should bat before Ash has settled)
4. Root (Normally, I prefer best batsman at 3, but he is the best spin player apart from his Captain)
5. No. 5 (must be a new face, preferably right hander)
6. Jhony
7. Moeen
8. Woakes/Berbi
9. Finn
10. Jimmi
11. A left-arm spinner - don't bother for his batting, but must be much, much ....much better than Samit Patel

If Root & Cook doesn't have an outstanding Series, I see 8 or 9 losses out of 10 Tests.

I really enjoyed the 1996 England v Pakistan Test at The Oval, when it was my adopted home ground.

So it's amazing that this Test has almost identical innings scores.

Check it out!

The selectors haven't got the guts, but for India just add Nick Compton and Monty Panesar.

We would beat them in India. Easily.

Pakistan have taken Moeen to the cleaners all series and now they are blocking him.

Hilarious.

Pakistan batsmen batting as if they are trying to play for the end of the day's play

GreenKnightRises will be gutted that Misbah has lead this team to 2-2.

Actually not much option apart from him. ENG can't go with 4 pacers in IND - at most 3, which actually takes out Stokes & 2 out of Finn, Berbi & Woakes. At this point, I'll take a fit Finn for his height & pace, while Woakes comes over Berbi for his batting & swing.

ENG is massively handicapped with Taylor's retirement - he was probably their best spin player.

Stop whining - we're playing sensibly to ensure a 10 wicket, which is much more decisive.

In Tests you can always set defensive field so you can't play like its the Hong Kong Sixes.

Finn shouldn't be in, Wood is better if it's felt that someone similar is needed. You've also missed out Stokes who walks straight back into the Xi.

Don't think Finn will play. Anderson and Broad are definite starters.

The team is most probably going to be:

Cook
Hales/Lyth/Robson
Root
Vince/Borthwick
Ballance
Bairstow
Stokes
Moeen
Rashid
Anderson
Broad

12th man: Woakes.

Now, I'll put my every penny for IND to win the Series with a clear margin. Unless, you stop predicting out of your fantasy, post PPes'll get rich by putting money against your odds.

Sami batting like he is playing for his spot in the side . . . . .
