What's new

Pakistan bowled out for 294, stretch match into Day 4, set South Africa target of 41 to win 2nd Test

At J’burg Yasir shouldn’t play in any case. Highlands are not the place for spinners. Fahim not sure but definitely won’t do worse than Imam with bat. If Rizwan is to play, Sarfraz needs to get “injured”, it’s not fair to play a WK as specialist bat and judged on that. Fahim for Imam & Hasan for Yasir will be my pick - that’ll also help to get Sarfraz banned for slow over rate; looks like PCB doesn’t have the balls to sack him.

Majestic from Asad; this guy knows how to drive - did you ever watched Zaheer live? I mean at Test ground, or at Bristol?

And captaincy?

Well played shan, needs to go on and get a 100 here.

More than the runs its been the command with which Shan has played throughout.

See how the constant run scoring is putting the Saffers on the backfoot.. If Azhar was out there we would be 80/2 atm

Looks like Shafiq gona play match winning innings here
Ominous signs for Africans

At the moment, Pakistan may be considering to send Amir before Fakhar so that he could be the one batting with the tail

I only saw Zaheer on TV. He was a bit like Mark Waugh: a classical batsman who could score very quickly without taking any risks.

Beautiful way to end the over! And to think Shan just said “yeh aram say khel jana”

Look who is talking.Your batsmen just score above 400 a mere couple of hours ago and you are telling us that they will fold for under 80.
Who is being negative here.
Us worrying about our batsmen being bundled out makes sense atleast. They have not touched 200 for the only 3 innings they have played here. However they are fighting currently and it is heartening and long may it continue.

Pressure of a fourth innings chase. No way would I post negatively if we're in a good position as is the norm here. Look at the flak Amir took despite being Pakistan 's best bowler across the two Tests, ridiculous.

Shan for ODI - those singles that he is taking, Imam will need 12 years just to start thinking.

What an On-drive, lady I recall like this from a little Indian.

Asad is a weird player. He'll look so ordinary one ball and the next he drives it beautifully

The more I see such innings from shafiq the more it disappoints me by thinking what he could have achieved for Pak in in his career and in recent cruicial situations against NZ, Srl while chasing very small totals.

OMG, I was about to type this. Literally Azhar just sucks out the momentum from any innings. Even partner ships with him seem to benefit the opposition

Shan himself said that those who get in need to go big. Time to live up to it, make this 50 a 100.

Shafiq batting like Hafeez in front of Steyn

Unfortunately Shan ran out of partners in first test second innings

Shan needs to pull a bit more squarer instead of finer. Would be devestating to see our only decent pull shot player nailing one right into the trap

I had an extended archive of that 274 at Birmingham- don’t think ever anyone had cover driven better than that. May be Greg at his prime.

MMHS Shafiq looks the hell of bat when in flow, but i have to find the reasonw hy he socres once in a blue moon?

If we can century from atleast one of these guys and Babarc, Fakhar can give some support than we might be able to make a match out of it.

Quality commentators for this series; Holding, KP, Haysman, Pollock and even Raja's been good.

He is a confidence player, whenever he gets better of his fear, he is wonderful to watch. Even in ODI, this guy played like a rabbit in front of head light. Also, apart from Azhar, no PAK player is suited for UAE - Asad’s career average could have been close to 50 if you could replace UAE with any venue with a bit of pace & carry. He loves to hit on the rise, which actually is a positive quality anywhere outside those sand beds.

With Malik and Hafeez set to retire after the World Cup and Haris limping, Shafiq is auditioning for an ODI recall as well.

Shan the one player with decent back foot game and call play short ball.

Shafiq needs to stop fishing outside the off stump to Steyn. Please don't throw this away, he needs to get a big one here. Not just a hundred, 150 or 200.

Shan masood has been great. Need to replace imam with him in ODIs too. He looks more like an ODI player to me..

This kind of careless stuff from Shafiq is the reason he is so inconsistent. Shaun approach is lot more mature than him.

After 65 tests he is still not assure where his off stump is, chase wife delivers blindly and play cross the line on nipping back deliveries. This type of batting delivered at far less consistently:facepalm:

It's garbage that Imam is in the ODI side and Shan isn't

The sad thing is that Pakistan turned up three weeks too late to prepare and acclimatise and it has taken them a Test and a Half to show that actually when performing to their potential these two teams are fairly evenly matched.
