Pakistan bowled out for 297 at Stumps on Day 1 of 2nd Test against New Zealand

Pak need to score runs.....not just defend....score runs....do it before new ball is due
 
This wicket is going to offer movement for one more day at least. It will be foolish to just give away. I like the way they are batting
 
This pitch seems really good to drive on tbh.

So many drives this first innings.

Need to pick and choose the right balls though or you'll nick off.

Pakistan have done well with their shot selection hence they've scored rather quickly.
 
Gohar batting so smoothly. Very nice to see. Finally some actual allrounders and not phonies.
 
They should try to speed up and increase the run rate to get more runs before the new ball is taken.

Great to see Zafar proving his selection over Yasir Shah.
 
Good Zafar good.....need to be positive......Hasan Ali would have strengthened the batting too....

Exactly. U dont play test cricket for new ball or stuff like that. Its about backing ur abilities to go through tough phases with a lot of fight

I don’t think Shaheen’s that bad actually. Just doesn’t play any shots. Now with Hasan back presumably for the SA series, it doesn’t actually look that bad of a tail.
 
There is no need to start throwing bat. They are playing sensibly and hope they continue doing it. The new ball also can provide lucky runs behind the wicket. Why give away?

Hassan at 9 in place of naseem for South Africa tour will make lower order batting even better and yasir at 10 for Abbas. Fahim is good enough to pay as third steamer in asia, considering our stocks.
 
NZ bowling smartly. They have been bowling wider to ensure Pakistan can't score a lot of runs. Every now and then they try to bowl one closer the wicket.
 
I know we may be all-out.....not the bad time to be all-out honestly if we loose all to new ball.....esp with some overs to bowl before stumps....Pak need to be positive here.....look for 300

Scoring 300 when sent in to bat by the opposition is a decent effort anywhere in the world. Please bemoan our low standards when we're actually failing

batting on this pitch on day 1 is very tough and having a score pike 300 is very good.

Has been working on his batting but, still other than a decent defence he doesnt seem to add much runs. Hopefully can improve the scoring shots as well. As its good to have pacers who can hit around a bit in such situations.
 
300 runs on this wicket is super! Even a number 1 ranked team will have a challenge to score this many on this wicket
 
Saheen block mat karo.....trust ur instincts...... although Shadab is a good handy batter too but if Zafar gets even a 45 and get some scalps in this test...Shadab will feel uncomfortable
 
300+ looks possible, just 20 odd runs. 330 will be even better.
 
NZ just allowed Zafar to maintain his wicket. Opened up the field lol

This. Such difficult conditions with a world class bowling lineup, and our best batsman missing. These people need to get a grip.

300+ should be a pretty good score. The ball should be moving on 2nd day as well.
 
Pak has done pretty well with the bat considering everything. Bowlers will have to stand up to make a match out of it.
 
Zafar is good on the back foot from what I have seen in domestics. Generally plays beautiful pull shots. This must be the first time he is facing such steep bounce.

considering we were 4 down for 80 odd so it makes a very good score. I don't get fans like him always being the critic. Needs to give credit where it's due.

all of sudden their is some hope. unless Harry pull a blinder in second innings any middle order batman who top chart in QEA, like usman salahudin or said Shakeel should replace him, and Azhar go back to open specially in aisa it should be a lot easier for him, shani trailender out. still think Abid can be deadly on aisan wickets as ftb or Imam could be solid replacement for now.

He’ll do really well with the Dukes ball in England. He looks like a real talent.
 
Should Pakistan not try Usman Qadir in test matches? A genuine spinner who can give the ball a good revolutions. From what I have seen he seems a good prospect. But like all leg spinners, most actually, he does give away a few boundary balls.

Same, he has a nothing action and usually trundles at low 130s.

Leggies havent been much effective in tests in last decade except Yasir in certain conditions. So unless a leggy is world class, finger spinner are better options.
 
Zafar out....I don't want us to be only blocking and hanging around....need quick runs....10 15...whatever or all out

Current Australia would beat pre 2006 in Aussie Condtions. Make no mistake about it. It will be very close. Can go either way.

And labuschagne is a world class player.

Jamieson is a nobody still. He only performed in n.z like their old lies Doull and co.


Auakat will be decimated in India and Australia when he tours. I can't wait. I welcome him.

Did not see it. If anyone is watching via a rewindable platform like Sky just capture it.

Makes no sense though as it is a new ball.
 
Poor judgement to play at the short ball. Valuable knock but should have been more sensible.
 
Our last 3 are not capable to add even 10-15 combined unfortunately.
