What's new

Pakistan end Day 3 on 153/3, needing 228 to win the 3rd Test against South Africa

2 of the biggest mistakes from Sarfraz/Arthur tenure are:

1. Selecting one frontline spinner in the home whitewash series against SL
2. Making Azhar bat at 3 when his performances (evident from his average) have come as an opener however I’m not sure whether it would have made any difference given how he’s regressed.

Don't worry lads. King Babar is in, it's in the bag now.

He is, but I am frustrated with his failure to grind. We need big tons from him, not good looking half-centuries.

True, but usually it's the tail not supporting him. He doesn't have the power shots like De Kock to still manage to score a 100 batting that low.

He will eventually start converting in tests as well. Not uncommon for young batsmen to take time settling in tests. Many of the greats struggled to convert test 50s to big 100s early in their careers.

4 more wickets are needed for olivier to snatch the record of maximum wickets in a 3 test series for a south frican

There are countless but yeah these ones are also right up there. I also cant wrap my head around selecting Bilal over Zafar, Mohammad Irfan, Kashif Bhatti, Asghar etc just bcz he is an offy.

Good that Babar didn't use NWM - that would have pushed him further down the order. Hope, this is Azhar's last innings for PAK - guy could have saved career for couple of years had he kept opening - averages close to 50 as opener with a Triple & Double; don't know why he had to be shifted to No. 3/4?

Olivier has been made to look like superman by our inept batsmen.

He’s consistently gone for 4-5 runs an over album we’ve managed to give him twenty odd wickets to short pitched bowling, deliveries we could have just left...

Pathetic stuff

Asad playing gem of a knock here.

He is a player I would pay to watch on song. Best cover driver of the ball since MoYo, cuts & pulls as well but inconstant. I do understand why MoYo is such a fan of Asad.

Shafiq could have been a terrific player under proper coaching and conditioning. However, it is 10 years too late now.

These fast paced runs are never good. What these guys need is a strong partnership.

haha .. agreed pak batsmen are pathetic against short ball .
but seems like you never played cricket..
you cant just leave ball coming on your throat

Babar has the confidence for test cricket now. He just needs to get big 100s now. Should bat at 4 at least for the next series.

You actually see a competition when Babar is playing against Rabada and Steyn.

I think Barbar has to bat at three or latest at four....
He’s too good a player to be batting any lower..

Although Rabada has taken Babar's wickets majority of the time it is refreshing to see he has not encased himself in a shell against him.

That highlight package of Azhar's dismissals was like action replay.

Babar needs to take this confidence into the ODIs. Unfortunately he is our only reliable ODI batter.

Lol I’ve played enough cricket in my time and with at least one international cricker who happens to be a current international captain...

Watch the side replay of Azhar’s dismissal and compare that to how Barbar played it.
That will Dow you everything...

Asad Shafiq and Umar Akmal are one of the biggest anomalies of Pak cricket. Asad played a lot but couldnt achieve anywhere near his potential.

Babar has the potential to carry the legacy of Miandad, Zaheer, Inzi, Yousuf, Younus

if you were referring to just azhar then forget it he is a glorified tailender

When I see Asad now a days, It just disappoints me that what he could have become and what he has achieved.

Watching Babar has been the highlight for this series. So good to watch.

Feel like an Indian fan from the 90's :sachin

Atleast these matches weren't boring.
In the UAE it would have been a snoozefest with not half of these boundaries going for runs and only 4 people in the crowd.

PAK team is striving for a home wicket like this - hard, bouncy but not much side wise movement so that batsmen can hit through the line. Instead of Oval, J'burg, Gabba .... we have got Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah .... so Zaheer Abbases are turning to Azhar Ali. Next SRL-PAK series should be shifted to Gale, Colombo & Palekelle instead of those .....

Asad curbed his instincts under misbah , i remember when he came onto the scene he was a stroke player.

Senseless bowling here. Going over 6+ for the last 10-12 overs. Another 20 overs like this and Pakistan will even have a chance to win.

Shafiq should get a bonus whenever he bats at a SR of above 60. Perhaps that will motivate him to bat like this more often.

He almost always plays well when he attacks. Could have been a quality ODI player as well.
