Pakistan finish on 223/9 at Stumps on Day 2 of the second Test vs England

Typical England. Produce run fest Tracks v Australia to ensure 4-5 days of cricket and plenty of bar revenue

Now I can recall, it was Pat Patterson - Bishop was injured. Not to mention Goochi carried the innings where second highest was probably 27.
 
England will easily score 350 here. When you play your strokes, suddenly the pitch becomes easier. There was nothing wrong in the decision to bat first here. Just that there is no ability in the Pakistan team to bat properly.
 
Rizwan is playing beautifully. Can get Pakistan to about 225-230 if the tailenders support him.

The conditions have been greatly overstated. Sure it is overcast, but the pitch itself is a 350 wicket batting first.

The only problem is that we are utter rubbish.
 
Why dont give Bess a couple of overs with this old ball? Why is he on the side again?

Can you do that for the last Test as well? And, please do that for bowling as well .....

These sort of logic can bite back you know. The issue is that seniors picked on experience didn’t perform or are not good enough to perform - today is 14th August 2020 - four years back on this day few 30+ people spoiled your logic at Oval against same opponents - couple took 5fors and one 39 years old guy scored 218 .....

It’s a capable man’s game; age is just one element of capability.

Root is missing a trick. Rizwan is horrible against spin as it is and with him looking to hit boundaries, he will inevitably sky one off Bess. Bess should be given an over or two against Rizwan.
 
New ball should back fire - it should come on to bat for Rizwan and move too much from Abbas’s edge.
 
[MENTION=132916]Junaids[/MENTION] Man you overdo this age stuff sometimes, i couldn't care less about the age as long as the you are making runs and getting wickets, but if your odds are low with both then obviously you would lose with younger players because at least they can improve in future than over the hill players who will just keep regressing.

He is indeed poor against spinner, but key word here is “spinner”.

200 up and now I can relax a bit. I hope it rains and england comes to play in the morning with new ball and overcast and windy conditions
 
Can they add 50 more. 250 would be a great score to have currently
 
Misjudged the double there. Now Abbas has to either get 1 somehow or survive
 
I just hope Misbah and co. lock up Shah in the toilet for the rest of the whole day. Lord knows he deserves it.

Very well played Rizwan, but last couple of hours play suggests conditions might not be that tough what PAK batsmen made it look like. Can’t recall Babar been troubled much before one fatal mistake, Rizwan looks quite comfortable and PAK tail is surviving enough balls out there.
 
How hard must it be to face 85 if Abbas can see it right on to the bat?

Yes and no. Think they should the pitch map and ENG were more good length than full length pre lunch. They corrected that post lunch though. Not unplayable conditions but enough in there. Also feel that people underappreciate counter attacks. These kind of things can throw area bowlers off. No Archer or Wood to pin the batsmen.

England would have to bat extremely poorly to not score 350 here. The pitch just requires an ability of shot-making which apart from Sibley, everyone in the England team possess.
 
Problem with Pakistan is that none of the settled batsman made it big , they got out after getting starts.
 
Woakes looks to fit and strong to be bowling below 82 mph regularly

Yup. But breaks did not help either. Fair play though as BA got a good one. Abid and Azhar not so much.
 
If Shah hadnt shown the maturity of an 8 year old, we couldve gotten to 250 easy
 
if you play your shots this is a flat wicket i am telling you have a bad feeling about our bowlers..
 
Actually batsman and one tailender need to realise their role in these conditions will be to counterattack and score a few quick runs plus throw the bowlers off their lengths.
 
Broad is a gun bowler in England.

Best ever English bowler for me
