Pakistan finish on 223/9 at Stumps on Day 2 of the second Test vs England

Very annoying timing for us . . that break! breaks the momentum completely . . need some luck!

But I was told by Sarfraz fans that there is no one in the country better than him and I was told I had an agenda for having the opinion that there is someone better than Sarfraz.

Pathetic from umpires. Still remember the drama they did in ODI series in South Africa when India needed 1 run to win and umpires took lunch. Why can't cricket have common sense?

They had lunch and tea for one hour out of around four hours playing light so far ... kudos.

Shaheen checking the ball as if he has a clue about what he is doing

How the hell are people to be attracted to this sport. God, I am frustrated with this. Don't they have a Plan B or something.

Cricket needs to grow as a sport and test cricket is the pinnacle of it. Rules and laws need to be updated, this isnt good enough.

Pathetic rules really.

Bad light rules and then having Lunch after just 1 hour of play :((

I'm so confused. Day night tests are played under lights, yet we cannot continue this test under lights?

Only way cricket will get rid of this stupidity if India ends up on recieving end. WC final also saw this stupid rules

Rizwan was simply outstanding since the morning, we have found a gem of a keeper for Tests and ODIs.

This is so truly ridiculous— it’s almost beyond parody.
Most of the season lost to Covid. Finally get going and jobsworth rules mean we do not play.
The weather is set to be like this for the next three days — means we are going to watch these umpires doing this non-stop

Rizwan literally left his crease to hit the ball and then smoked a drive through covers.

Are the umpires blind?

just abandon the match, cant be doing with this rubbish

The main objective of a tailender is to support a top order batsmen, Abbas only got 2 but the partnership with Rizwan was worth 43 runs!

If it was a T20 game, these two umpires would have been banned by ICC for disrupting the holy things happening in middle. Test cricket’s biggest enemy is it’s administrators, who are trying their best to kill this game so that they can slot more of that holy thing.

They should be jailed

Now looking like a competitive score from Pakistan. England need to at least match it to stay in the game imo.

You should be okay, we have 2 school kids and a guy that bowls 78.

Not necessarily- this is the beauty of this game. I think, this wicket will get better considerably in later stages - if, say PAK is all out for 234 and England by tea tomorrow for 170. That actually can give England an added advantage to bowl second time when still the wicket is juicy and they can enjoy a nice over night break after Day three, to finish the task by lunch on day four for a target like 250 on a drying wicket.

This has happened many times in cricket on wickets that provide early assistance to pacers. I can recall few, most prominent one - 1990 Ashes opener are Brisbane; or that famous Test in SAF (vs Australia,’second time they were bundled for 47 to give a target like 230).

I have a feeling it will be better to bowl in the morning. Fresh wind, a little cold, pitch rolled properly and we can have better swinging conditions.

So let me get this straight. For the ball to swing you want fresh wind, a little cold and a rolled wicket?

But we have been asked to be downgraded to 2 test matches a series like we have been in australia

Yes, it is not that simple. but windy conditions, a little moisture in air assist in swinging. overcast means that... we usually get these conditions in england.

One good inning and we are all going to declare Rizwan the ‘best Pakistani WK batsman in decades’. :pkflag:pkflag:pkflag

He has looked like he is made of the right stuff since his first test.
That's the start. Scores then follow.
Team man, busy player, decent domestic record, solid w/k
That was the case before today, and it's worth persisting with

OK because I was under the impression that cloudy and humid conditions, especially under lights, would be the very best conditions for swing. So the best time to bowl is now and not tomorrow morning.

I’m not denying any of it. I just don’t think there is any merit to the statement that he’s the best wkb for Pak in decades. Even Sarfraz has had a purple patch like this. Doesn’t mean anything if the consistency isn’t there. People seem to have forgotten the first test.

Well the difference is Rizwan scored in away series, first aus and now in eng. I guess need to check Sarfraz’ record in away series like in SENA countries to have a comparison

He has played a few innings like that in England and in Sri Lanka. Off course with Rizwan, the sample size is too small. He’s only played two innings of any substance in his whole career so there is no comparison.

Apparently umpires gone into Pakistan changing rooms

Lock him right there. Maybe wants to ask batsmen whether they are prepared to play?
you morons, should have asked them while they were on the field.

Not sure about the best at the moment but, factually he is the only Pakistani wicket keeper bastman in the last 3 decades to score a 50 in both Aus and Eng. This shows good adaptability.

He has the best domestic stats for a keeper in Pakistan's cricket history which also gives hope.
