Pakistan should look to get 400-500. They can if saud bats the way he does. But ik they wont as shan will depart once he gets his 100

400 given the way pitch is playing ...Just turning on, looks like south africa missed so many oppertuities
let's see if we can capitalise -- should look to target 450 first innings
YK was actually extremely talented. People view his career in odi as shockingly poor for his standards as a player of his caliber should have been greater in that format.Younis is too high an example for Babar,
We don’t even need to look too far away with Shan Masood being a better example and more appropriate to Babar’s caliber.
Shan has been brilliant since he worked so hard in domestics. He’s shown that you can turn things around with hard work and dedication, plus clarity of mind. The clarity for Shan was that he wanted to become a proper red ball batsman.
I remember Younis going to Australia to play Shield cricket with South Australia back in 2008 when Pakistan didn't have a single test match scheduled all year. Had multiple county stints with Surrey, Warwickshire, Yorkshire etc. too. If Babar wanted to do the same I am sure there would be a number of teams who would jump at the opportunity to have him turn up for them, but he hasn't even played county which is very convenient for Pakistani cricketers because of the scheduling.Thing is he's already had plenty of time out having been excluded from the T20 team.
The QEA Trophy was scheduled too close to this series, but he could've played Hanif Mohammad Trophy, or County Cricket if he pushed for a place.
Babar's literally wasted the best part of a year which I cannot understand. He's 31 (officially) and should be desperate to maximise whatever's left of his peak years. Younis Khan may not have been as naturally talented but any time he got into a rut, he worked like an animal to get back into form.
Babar doesn't seem to have the hunger that our past greats had who also had inept administrations, and multiple captains/coaches/selectors to contend with.
Saud should always play slow in test. I've noticed anytime he plays slow, he ends up scoring big.
Shan has played alot of county cricket too. I know county today is not the same level that it used to be, but point is, he is playing first-class cricket in overseas conditions. There's nothing stopping Babar or really any first team Pakistan player from playing county, it all depends on how serious you are to elevate/improve your game.Younis is too high an example for Babar,

This is test not odi. Ignore the people advocating for bazzball. Bazzball has never worked.as long as he doesnt put pressure on his batting partners
Bazzball is overrated....This is test not odi. Ignore the people advocating for bazzball. Bazzball has never worked.
Ponting era was different. Their wasnt any team on their level at that time.
If bazzball era was some sort of goat revolutionary era England would have won 3 out of 3 wtc's.
Australia is still playing classic test cricket and dominating. Khawaja, Labu, Renshaw, Steve Smith, Alex Carey etc etc are all classic test cricketers.
They only have 2 dashers in Cameron Green and Travis Head thats it.
Babar was made offers from Counties this summer but they didn’t match what he wanted to be paid.Shan has played alot of county cricket too. 400 given the way pitch is playing ...

The guy’s priorities are not correct I’m afraid.
Man preferred to do nothing for his actual trade and was busy making cash through advertisements and also holidays abroad.
From a business pov, Babar is flourishing.
Babar and Rizwan are dealt with differently most of the times when it comes to NOCs.PCB doesn't help matters much either by revoking NOC's all the time too
but yes, the fault is mainly with babar imo
Poor shot from Shan, just lost patience...the ton was there for the taking. But credit to Maharaj because that was a very good delivery. Tossed it up and bowled it so slow, which is the way to go here. Pitch is definitely starting to show it's true colors now
deck is decent GC ... 216/4Imo, 350 - 375 is the limit of this team. 4 Number 11s, a useless number 4, & Agha who is unable to play with the tail means that it's hard to score above that.
From 220/3 to 225/5 is a normal for this team and from there on they almost always struggle to even cross 300 in most conditions.
fancy a result in 4 days ?Poor shot from Shan, just lost patience...the ton was there for the taking. But credit to Maharaj because that was a very good delivery. Tossed it up and bowled it so slow, which is the way to go here. Pitch is definitely starting to show it's true colors now
Both Shafique and Shan threw their wickets away, when they were set for a big score. It's difficult for new batters to come in and start scoring, so at least one of them should have gone on to score a big ton.People need to stop being pessimistic. Excluding babar, Imam and Abdullah (who got lucky)
Shan batted beautifully and Saud is batting beautifully as well.
Appreciate a team's efforts for once.
SA has already lost this test the moment they dropped multiple catches. Both Shafique and Shan threw their wickets away, when they were set for a big score. It's difficult for new batters to come in and start scoring, so at least one of them should have gone on to score a big ton.
South Africa will not let us back into the game repeatedly.
Yes, I think we will have a result on Day 4fancy a result in 4 days ?
Poor fielding in the slips again. Got to stay low and on your toes as a slip fielder when ball isn't bouncing.Edged n Boundary....
Shan atleast scored 87 and only had one reprieve. Abdullah was given like 5-6 chances, still scored only 57Both Shafique and Shan threw their wickets away, when they were set for a big score. It's difficult for new batters to come in and start scoring, so at least one of them should have gone on to score a big ton.

Agha tooyeah, after getting stuck in, he got sruck out
saud and riz on the other hand, will test the patience of the south african bowlers haha
I was wrong, since we won but we make too many mistakes. If the opposition doesn't take advantage of our mistakes, doesn't mean we are not making those mistakes. We collapsed thrice in two innings in the first test, a fact that was acknowledged by the head coach.SA has already lost this test the moment they dropped multiple catches.
You made similar comments in tue 1st game and no one called you out on it either, then you refused to admit you were wrong.
Shan threw his wicket away yes but that doesn't invalidate the 87 runs he scored especially when shan departed early and Abdullah and Babar were both showing signs of getting out any minute. Shan held his nerve for a long long time.
Saud is following the same mantra.
It doesn’t work like that for himJust one more innings left for babar azam to do something of note otherwise he could be gone from test format for a long long time.
He can. Hope he doesnt try to play too aggressive.I think Saud will score a century. I have a feeling
He is being brought back in a format where he is completely out of place, forget about him being dropped from tests. It doesn’t work like that for him
Whoever replaces him has to score 50 or more every innings, otherwise Babar will be back after 2-3 failures of that player.
Looks like he hasn’t slept all of last nightRizwan seems uncomfortable here....
not on this deck ...Pak batters are champions in throwing away wickets....so you never know, a collapse is always around the corner.
if there is 2nd innings for PakistanMaharaj will be tough in 2nd innings , mind you
350 must be the bare minimum.Pakistan must score at least 400 here.
Sarfaraz should play @RanaNot the first time seeing Rizwan dismissed lbw like this of a pacer playing back to a ball he should have been forward too. Glaring technical defficiency that oppositions have caught on to and always exploit.
He should be eyeing to get to stumps without losing his wicket. Milestone can wait until tomorrow.Saud should be eyeing 50 before stumps
Salman ali agha isn't batting all rounderThis is a terrible test team.
3 spinners.
4 number 11s.
No all-rounder.
An out of sorts number 4.
Salman ali agha isn't batting all rounder![]()
Are you high noman sajid asif all can bat have won pakistan games with their crucial runs vs englandThis is a terrible test team.
3 spinners.
4 number 11s.
No all-rounder.
An out of sorts number 4.
And who will score runs for south africa vs 3 pakistan spinners sorry but pakistan is way ahead of the game.SA won't be disappointed, 1 more and into the tail , they can bowl Pakistan out for below 300 tomorrow
That’s actually common in subcontinent due to low bounce. It was the case in Delhi too when WI played the second test.Poor fielding in the slips again. Got to stay low and on your toes as a slip fielder when ball isn't bouncing.
Got up way too early that slip fielder.
@Ab Fan Example of what I was said earlier. Ball reversing but not carrying to the slip fielder off the outside edge.
