To be fair to PCT management, I don't see too many other options .

Naseem is so fragile that 1 spell at full pace has given him a stiff back. Shaheen doesn't want to play Test cricket. Who else is there ? Mohammad Ali?

There are always options and they wouldn't have been any worse than this attack on this wicket.
 
Pakistan should make every effort to play SSA in Test cricket, otherwise what are options rest of the lot is novice or incapable

Sensational batting!! He becomes only the 8th South African to breach 250 in Test Cricket. Only one among those 8 managed to get to 300.

Let's go with any other medium pacers on this wicket from domestic and how much worse would it be. I have said for years that Mir Hamza isn't an international bowler. Why would you not play a proper spinner on here.
 
Harsh reality all phasst bowlers in Pakistan want to play Tonty 20 and are on mercenary route , henceforth the problems in Test cricket

This. Some of these SA bowlers have bowled across 3 Tests and multiple ODIs/T20Is over a long season against India/SL/ PAK.

They have no incentive to force the issue and get their bowlers in the field , considering they have already qualified.

So what will they do? Bat for 5 days? It'll be funny if that happens. Cause more injuries will occur in the Pakistan camp. They'll be effectively done and dusted for CT

OK. The top performs in QEA are the likes of Musa Khan and Ahmed Bashir right ?

Do you think they would've done better here ? Honest question

They could bat till end of day 2 and also possibly till lunch on day 3 if world record is nearer for Rickelton

I wouldn't argue with people who think footwork isn't required in cricket, how you expect them to understand pitches these lot wanted Pakistan to bowl out south Africa for 150 on a flattest track.

no way they will bat for 5 days, they are looking to bat once and bowl out Pakistan twice, ball is in Pakistan's court to take it to a draw
 
When you already have an Amad butt in domestic cricket, his bowling and batting fc averages are both better than Aamer Jamal, and he has ample domestic experience. When you don’t select such a player and don’t respect domestic cricket, then this is what you will get. And Shan Masood, as usual, is clueless as a captain. Who in their right mind gives 36 overs to a part-timer in test cricket? Poor selection and poor captaincy have cost Pakistan yet again. A big blunder not to select Sajid Khan as a specialist spinner. A specialist spinner is a must-have in every condition.
 
This is stupid, Pakistan has literally given up, I observed this behaviour vs Bangladesh and England as well.

Even if the first test is a road, Look at how England and Bangladesh manufactured wickets? They never lost their intensity and kept searching?

This whole team seems mentally defeated? Just praying to God for fluke wickets and a declaration?

They just want Rickleton to get to 300, they could of declared at 450 and still beaten us within 4 days, how we can go from nearly winning the first test match to totally capitulating in the 2nd, this is Pakistan all over!

A genuine batting wicket this, but our poor players will make it look like a Headingley pitch with overcast conditions.
 
So many of the Pak fans are frustrated now while true OGs know that real frustration is going to hit when Pak batters won't be able to score 400 over two innings :geek:

I get your point. On the allrounder point no need to replace one average allrounder with another one though. We should just be looking to pick proper bowlers in test cricket.
 
This pitch is a complete road the sun has baked it and there wasn't any grass

Sa knew the best way to take pakistan out is render their bowlers useless and produce a wicket conclusive to bazball and bat them out the game because pakistan batsmen will simply wilt under score board pressure

Because unlike the karachi pitch where the bounce will stay low and be true

South african pitches later on starting giving uneven bounce balls take off or stay low and they have the bowlers who are 6ft + ball heavy balls and have more pace

They are doing the right thing. Also shows they don't want to bat again. That's why winning the first test was crucial, this kind of surface would never have been prepared if Pak was 1-0

Neither is good. Niaz Khan has something and is quite tall, around 84mph. Just falls away too quickly and if he can work on that he will be handy.

Pakistan are not moving ahead with Shan at the helm, he lacks confidence and ability to inspire the team a harsh reality.

We got whitewashed by Bangladesh even from strong positions.
