Pakistan to tour England in 2021 to play 3 T20Is and 3 ODIs

Rather Pakistan consistently plays teams like England than the mighty Zimbabweans.

This is one of the ways Pakistan can improve and develop the players. Likewise it will help ground the expectations.

Our recent away tours before this Zimbabwe tour were SA, NZ, Eng, and Aus. We play these big teams often enough. It's good that we play nations like Zimbabwe, Ireland, Netherlands (in the future) because these associate nations need exposure too. We should continue to support these countries and provide exposure to them at the top level unlike some money hungry and narcissistic cricket boards that refuse to do so.

Exactly , well said

Given that most of England's stars won't be there, it's a good opportunity to gel our team together.

Why it's given, ? Pakistan is competitive in england morover, it's start of international summer for england and first time they will play infront of home crowd after pandemic. So, i find no reason england start will be missing

They will. Wait and see.

IPL fatigue, series against SL, and the fact that us losing to Zimbabwe means they can beat us without their full strength playing XI. A club team can beat Pakistan.

Will be better for us without their big guns, we like pitches where the ball is coming on..hopefully there will be no Archer, Wood, Stokes, Bairstow or Butler

I'd prefer to face a full-strength England team to know where we actually stand in the formats.

I think we will do well against England were the pitches will let the ball come on to the bat nicely.

3 ODI's in this tour will be the real test of the Pakistan ODI team, If Pakistan can manage a single win in the ODI series it would mean that Pakistan can still compete with the top 4 nations but atm I don't have many hopes.

Unless Haris Sohail and Imad Wasim are in that squad, its unrealistic to expect much from the batting.

The UK Government has approved the entry of cricketers from India and Pakistan – both on the Covid ‘red list’ for travel – to the country to face England this summer.

India’s men (for the World Test Championship Final and a five-Test series), India’s women (for a multi-format series) and Pakistan’s men (for limited overs internationals) are all due in the country this summer, despite being on the Government’s red list, which only allows entry to British nationals.

The teams will be able to quarantine at the Ageas Bowl near Southampton, rather than in a Government facility, when arriving for their tours.

The conditions of quarantine will be more stringent for those arriving from the red-listed countries than for New Zealand’s men’s team, who arrived in the country this weekend and are also based at the Ageas Bowl.

New Zealand is on the green list, while Sri Lanka – who are also touring for white-ball action – features on the amber list at present.

The agreed conditions only cover players and support staff, not their families. Negotiations between the relevant organisations around getting families of the India men’s team – who are here for around four months – into the country are likely to continue.

These conditions also only cover international action, not the Hundred. The quarantine conditions for players arriving from red-listed countries, such as Pakistan and South Africa, for that tournament are not yet clear.

The situation around overseas players in the Hundred has already been significantly complicated by the naming of Australia’s squads for their tour of the Caribbean in July. Seven of the nine Australians in the men’s Hundred have been called up and a number of West Indies players, such as Andre Russell and Keiron Pollard, are likely to be selected to face them, endangering participation in the Hundred.

England are due to name their squad for the New Zealand series, which begins on June 2, on Tuesday afternoon. They will be without Jofra Archer, as well as those players who have recently left quarantine having returned from the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Archer could have surgery as soon as this week as he sees a consultant to map the best road to recovery for the right elbow that has caused such persistent issues in recent years.

What is the need of a special approval for Pakistani cricketers? I thought the PCB vaccinated all of its players?

They could be carrying the virus on them.

Vaccination doesn't guarantee 100% immunity to the virus. The UK is trying to stop the spread of the Indian variant which is going to in my view lead to an inevitable 3rd full lockdown or return to level 3.

Reece Topley faces the prospect of missing a large chunk of England's limited-overs schedule against Sri Lanka and Pakistan after being ruled out for four to six weeks with a side strain.

The left-arm seamer – who was named in England's white-ball squads last winter against India, where he featured in two one-day internationals in March – injured his right side while representing Surrey's second team on Wednesday.

Surrey say Topley is likely to "be unable to return to high-intensity training until the middle of July", which would rule the 27-year-old out of three ODIs this month and three T20s at the start of July against Sri Lanka.

His involvement for three ODIs and three T20s against Pakistan from July 8-20 is in doubt, with Surrey resigned to losing the fast bowler for their Vitality Blast group stage campaign, which starts on June 10 and ends on July 16.

Surrey also think they will lose Topley for two fixtures in the LV= Insurance County Championship, where he has taken 15 wickets in four matches this season at an average of 24.93.

Surrey said in a statement: "Surrey and England fast bowler Reece Topley has been ruled out for four to six weeks after suffering a side strain.

"Topley, who has enjoyed a successful season in the LV= Insurance County Championship so far, suffered the injury to his right-hand side whilst representing the Surrey Second XI against Essex in New Malden on Wednesday.

"Given the likelihood that he will be unable to return to high-intensity training until the middle of July, the injury is likely to rule the fast bowler out of Surrey's upcoming campaign in the Vitality Blast as well as the two LV= Insurance County Championship games against Hampshire and Somerset."

'What kind of thinking and logic is this?': Ramiz Raja explains Pakistan Cricket's 'biggest problem'

Former Pakistan batsman Ramiz Raja lashed out at the approach and the mindset of the Pakistan cricket team's think tank.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday announced the squads for the upcoming T20 and ODI series against England and the T20I and Test series against West Indies. Responding to the announcement, Ramiz Raja expressed strong disappointment, saying he just doesn't understand the selection and the slotting of the Pakistan cricket team.

While speaking on his YouTube channel, the former Pakistan cricketer said that the fact that old players are being recalled and preferred over the youngsters is hurting the team.

"I still don't understand the slotting and the selection of players in Pakistan cricket. That is because you select a team, you announce a lot of uncapped players and it is appreciated because once again, there is an eye on the future. And then you don't play them. It's just like sending an all-decked-up bride back without getting her married. Then you suddenly look back to the recycled players. Not only are they recalled to the team but they are also made to play. They are preferred over the uncapped players," said Ramiz.

Citing the example of Tabish Khan, the oldest Test debutant for Pakistan in 66 years, Ramiz asserted that he doesn't have a clue about the logic that goes into the selection. He said so because Tabish, a domestic cricket veteran with more than 590 wickets, made his debut at the age of 36 in a Test against Zimbabwe but was not included in the Test squad for West Indies.

"Then, according to the slotting, you announce a player in the Test squad like Salman Ali but you play him in the ODIs next time. So, either the earlier selection wasn't right or this selection isn't. You aren't aware of the quality of the player. It is like you debut a 36 or a 38-year-old (Tabish Khan) in Zimbabwe against a team like Zimbabwe but you don't give a chance to a 22-year-old. I mean I haven't seen this happen anywhere in the world. And then you also free him after the Test debut. It's basically a benefit match for him because you did not give him a Test cap with the future in mind. What kind of thinking and logic is this?" explained Raja.

Fifty-eight-year-old Ramiz further spoke about the high-performance centres in the country, saying their approach needs to be corrected. The cricketer-turned commentator reason that in order to increase the talent pool, the focus of the coaches needs to be on the young and uncapped players.

"See, these (high-performance centres) platforms and centres are meant for age cricket where you bring out the future stars. When you invest big coaches on the future stars, only then your cricket and your system is benefitted and not that the already-established first-class and Test players. If you bring them back, how will you increase the canvas, the scope, and talent pool with this execution and planning? I will say it again, the biggest problem with Pakistan cricket is that their GPS is not set yet about moving forward," concluded Raja.

Pakistan, which last toured Zimbabwe and won both the T20I (2-1) and Test series (2-0), will kick off their tour of England on July 8 with the first ODI. The two teams will play three ODIs and as many T20Is.
