Pakistan trail by 2 runs in their second innings, finishing Day 2 of the First Test against South Africa at 88/3

Babar needs to show that he’s really the world-class player his fans say he is. This is the kind of situation where great players step up and prove their worth.

Babar destroyed Steyn here in 2018. He looks a shadow of that player. But maybe those memories will bring the best out of him.

Mistake to send Babar at 3?
Personally, I think he's ok at 3 in this case, as we are already 13 overs in

His fans are morons that's why. (Not referring to PP, referring to global pakistani population in general)

Dude even in his prime avg 28 at no 3. Hit a bit of a purple patch at 4 but then deteriorated.

He's a poor test player and a poor t20 player even in prime. Solid odi player in prime however have to agree on that.

Test + odi + t20 are different formats. Pcb should have realised that Babar wasn't cut out for it.

A 28 avg at 3, shows that he's clueless against early seam

He never is. He's a poor cricketer.

Even in that England 1st test game, the wicket was such a flat phatta that scoring 800 was easy. The dude scored 150 and just tired out.

Has zero stamina + Cant handle any pitch with even a bit of seam or spin
I'm not a fan but he is playing quite well. As for that 150 that was a mammoth effort. And for his stamina, probably one of the fittest Pakistan player

I only remember one meaningful knock in each format in his career.

T20s - 50+ against India in WT20 2021
ODIs - 100+ against New Zealand in WC 2019
Test - 100+ against Australia to draw Karachi Test
Lol yeah he only has these knocks to show he is the fake king.

He has scored countless meaningful knocks against Zimbabwe though.

He is Zimbabar for a reason.

That is nothing in 9 years.
Tbf he has some other good knocks, but the issue is that their in losing causes.

His 2017 century against aus is good, The score was way too high. A 350 target means you need someone at the other end to help you reach it, unless someone pulls a Harry houdini and smashes a double century.

Similarly he has good centuries vs England in their own den, but against pakistan lost because 2017 to 2019 England were smacking 300 to 480 scores left and right.

He also has one good century vs sa in odi but because he departed early and pakistan won that game via the skin of its teeth thanks to tailender magic, he doesnt get credit.

Im not supporting babar, in fact he's a rubbish t20 and test player, but I do sympathise a little.

His prime was 2017-2019 in odi and unfortunately pakistan was facing teams that were smacking 350's for fun. And no fakhar + Hafeez + Haris sohail support means that an accumulator just cannot survive against such teams.

Babar Azam is such a shadow of his former self.

Can't believe last time he toured South Africa he was such a good up and coming batter. He ended Steyn's career effectively

His best test innings is that 100 vs Sri Lanka in 2022. That was a difficult pitch

He has become Virat Kohli of present too early

It's funny how Shan 90% of the time manages his way to a 30. Nothing less nothing more

Pak cricket becomes dull once Saim Ayub is out. He is the entertainment package no matter the format.

Shan usually is quite aggressive.
that he is playing in his shell suggests he is probably really concerned about his place in the xi after this series is over
