Pete Rose Mamoon. This may be THAT series that propels him. Lot of grit after a shaky start. I'm getting excited. Someone give me a reality check.

I want to see Shafiq make a big one today. It'll further solidify his case to move higher up the order.

He has looked a different batsman since the SL series. Far more determined.

Hopefully this can be a career defining series. The quality is clearly there, you cannot score runs in Test cricket against SA and AUS without being good.

Aman don't count out Sarfraz for most runs in the series

Do you think Shafiq has a good enough technique to open?

If you can bat at three you can open.

Asad has the technique for number 3 (that's where he batted in the Odis) but he bats in the middle order. To move him to open they fits need to put him at one-down and then after a few test matches to open. Given the handful of test matches Pakistan plays every year it would mean this would take about a year to do. During that time, they need to figure out what happens to Azhar Ali, as he currently bats at 3.
Unless you meant Azhar Ali to open?
Alternately, Pakistan cricket can do what it does best: wait for misbah and yk to retire by the end of this year and next year respectively from test cricket, and then put in these guys as replacements

Sarfraz is becoming a classical WK batsman. This is what they are supposed to do in Test cricket. Of course not everyone can be a Gilchrist or de Villiers.

We have really lacked this since Kamran lost the plot all those years ago.

sarfraz has really worked hard and I appreciate Moin khan for supporting this lad

Need to push on towards 400 as quickly as possible, ideally we want to be in situation at Tea where we can then maybe start looking to push pressure on Aussie batsmen

MJs figures in this game have been brilliant so hes still the threat here

Hopefully Shafiq gets a ton here. It will be great to have a ton against two strong teams SA and AUS.

Shot of the day from sarfaraz his timing there was amazing!

Misbah has an eye for talent.
A lot of youngsters have made debut In his reign. And our bench strength has increasing.
Except maybe for a fast bowling all-rounder.

don't bowl him on the pads..Very good there. Aussies needs to bowl him short pitched stuff to stop him.

Pakistan should keep attacking and aim top get to 450 and FAST. Sarfraz/Shafiq are in flow now and we never know which Pakistan shows up in the 2nd innings.

Come to think of it, our middle order - in the UAE especially, is pretty decent. In test matches at least, these blokes are not world class except from YK but overall pretty decent for UAE

Apart from Johnson, our attack has looked fairly ordinary. Lyon & Siddle need to lift their game.

Rest are rookies and might chip in if the seniors get something going.

Yeah whenever he comes back on commentary and praises someone....that batsman gets out
He was boasting about how Sarfraz will become the 2nd ever WK to make 5 consecutive 50+ scores in Tests. Next ball Sarfraz nearly sliced it to gulley.

Sarfraz seems to be a rare smart cricketer from Pakistan. Why didn't he play like this in his early chances? Maybe Moin has given him the go to play his natural game since he took over.

These two should be aiming to bat till tea in same manner and we should have 450, i think we should be aiming to have atleast 20 overs at Aussies tonight

That funny moment when i thought sarfraz was going to do a sajda after a fifty but he didn't to suprise of many and just adjusted his batting gear, any body else thought same way?

50 from 42 balls though, Misbah making the youngsters bat slowly as usual.

Great transformation. True example if someone who actually took criticism, worked on their game, came back and played that game, didn't worry about the surroundings and just bat as a true batsmen would. Great knock.

Fifty from all the batsmen except openers. They must be feeling ashamed..:P

Text book tactics from Pakistan, absorbed the early pace and life in the wicket, tired out the bowlers and now upping the ante. We are in trouble now.

Only hope is that the Pakistan spin attack is weak by their standards.

Put ourselves in control of this test match. Only question is if our bowlers can get 20 wickets on a pitch like this. If Ajmal was playing, then I would be pretty confident, without him, well its a case of wait and see.

Some guys cant be tamed :uakmal

Difference is that unlike :uakmal Sarfraz would settle down and tuk tuk if the situation warranted it. Which is why Junior can keep on begging for chances while Sarfraz is scoring runs for Pakistan.

Australia being treated like they should outside Aus/SA.

Well done Pakistan.
