Excellent bowling.

Can't believe it.

I would have taken 72-3 and here they are 72-6

Let's hope we get them under 150 and Pakistan bat for a while

What a bowling performance. But have to keep the Aussies under 150 to win

73-6 flatters Australia there was a play and miss an appeal every third ball I reckon.

That's lunch on a very exciting first morning at Headingley. Pakistan's seam attack has demolished the Australian batting line-up in very helpful conditions. Australia's hopes for a decent first-innings total now rest on Paine and Smith, who are both only in their second Tests. And what's more, the pitch hasn't just helped the seamers, as Kaneria got the ball to grip and turn sharply in his solitary over before the break. So there'll be no let-up for the Australian lower order!

That's lunch on a very exciting first morning at Headingley, and it's all a bit reminiscent of Australia's barnstorming start to last year's Ashes Test against England on this ground. At lunch in that match, England were ... 72 for 6!. Pakistan's seam attack has demolished the Australian batting line-up in very helpful conditions. we have to wrap this tail. Have seen to many times Aus come back from less then 100 for 6 to go on and score 270-300

oh my goodness man i just browse cricinfo & saw wht i cant believe aussiess 73/6....... :O

Hmmm !

What a session it has been! Pakistan just doing what they do best ( no jokes here :) ) Just hope Sb can lead the batting.

Great bowling by our bowler and once again we are on top and lets hope we do stay on top through out the game. Butt needs to stop experimenting too much and let the seamers finish the job.

Cricinfo ka copy paste kiun marte ho yaar??? Kuch apna likkhon naa. :aamir:asif:gul

now first task is to polish it off our bowlers has been rubbish at getting rid of the tail.

Pakistan only needs a captain who can let the batters perform....the team will start winning......lets see can Salman be the one....

Its really horrible to be a Pak fan....he time and again see a world class bowlling display only to be spoiled by the childish batting of the batters...

Oh you mean, the other captains who failed in tests stopped the batters from performing forcefully?

That would be stupid, No?

inshallah pakistan will rap up the tail and then have a solid start, if they can remove aussies for 110 then go on to make even 250 we should win.

Wow!! What a bowling performance by Pakistan!! They demolished Aussie line up.. Hopefully, they'll wrap 'em up soon after lunch!!
& Congrats to Umar Amin for his first scalp in test cricket!

I mean the day Pakistan batters start performing as a unit the team will start winning....lets see that lucky captain in Salman or not...

That was the best bowling performance by a Pakistani unit for a number of years.

Could've easily been <100 all out, so many balls whizzing past the outside edge; I thought the standout was Asif, bamboozled everyone.

Salman has improved his batting and he can certainly command respect in the team if he performs well unlike Afridi..

Oh so Afridi didn't perform in ODIs and T20s?

He didn't performed in Tests and resigned, what exactly you wanna say Sir?

I think a repeat of Sydney is on the cards.

You also thought Australia would be 356/2 at the end of day 1 :yk

I'm very happy more because Ponting the piece of crap has been demolished; he saw the conditions and arrogantly chose to bat, good on him :yk

Umar amin bowling .. make me thing

can we polish his bowling skills for one dayers.. as 6th bowler..

I am a huge fan of Afridi....what I am saying is Salman Butt has more chances than Afridi to succeed at the test level......so he can command more respect from the team members than afridi in test..

But for T20s and ODIs Afridi has already shown that he is the best in these formats for Pakistan.. No one is even near Afridi in terms of skills and performance when it comes to T20s and ODIs....

Wow Danish gets a caning on here. This may be unusual to Pakistan fans but that was captaincy 101 - bring on the leg spinner the over before lunch to see if he can snag a wicket.

Didn't work this time but you would try that everytime in the same position.

Danish is a fantastic bowler. Bowled well at Lords too in unhelpful conditions and got some good turn in that one over before lunch.

Unfortunately on pakpassion it is fashionable to hate certain players (like Malik) and Danish is one of them.

What a session it was. Honestly, after Afridi's resignation I did not have much interest in the match and after watching the first couple of overs turned on some tv show. About an hour ago, I was at my hairdresser's and he told me the score.

Just hope we can dismiss Australia for less than 150 and then bat well.

Exciting news if you're a Pakistani fan in the Leeds area. Yorkshire have just announced that tickets will be half-price after the tea interval, and available at the Kirkstall Lane End turnstiles. Also, tickets for day two are on sale in St Michael's Lane from 2pm onwards, prices starting at £30.

There's a little too much over-reaction going on here. So I think I better calm a few of you down by reminding you :

1. We have't bowled them out yet. We have bowled rubbish against the Aussie tail enders who have taken us to the cleaners. If Kaneria bowls long enough, expect a decent score.

2. Do you realise that a) we have to bat nest on this? and b) we have to bat last on this? It's a seamers paradise. We would have been 60 all out this morning if we had batted 1st.

3. Just a reminder - we have the worst batting line up in world cricket apart from Zimbabwe (yes, the Bengalis are better batting team then us). Our top 6 have the following :

- Farhat - absolute rubbish

- Azhar - rookie.. untried. Not the man for this occassion

- Amin - see Azhar

- Malik - absolute rubbish

- Umar - brainless one-day slogger. Not a test quality batsman.

We have a looooooooong way to go in this match. Just remember - no-one wins test matches with Farhat, Ali, Amin, Malik and Umar in the top 6.

The peerless Andy Zaltzman has been playing with Statsguru again, and has this to say: "Gents. A stat for you. That is the first time this millennium that Australia's top six have all been out for under 20. The last such occasion was 156 baggy green Tests ago, on the dreamy, mirage-like first day of the 1997 Ashes." I remember that day well. I was on my gap year, in a deserted sports cafe in Bulawayo, which was a suitably surreal venue for such an occasion.

Aussies have send some ppl to demoralize pakistani fans :)... like HASH...ZEDMAN

but they wont be able to demoralize us ..

But hats of to Butt....as Afridi didn't utilized amin bowlling in the first test
Its Hats off rather than hats of... And it was nothing special than a gamble. which Indian Captain Dhoni is very good at. Mostly it works because, Mostly Batsmen don't wanna show respects to part-timers and get failed. :malik

all this might be true but does that mean we should not appreciate high quality test match bowling display as I said earlier 73-6 flatters Australia.

You're a buzzkill. Go away.

We MUST get them out for less than 150 (in a worst case scenario) - I cant see us scoring too much in these conditions so its important we restrict them to as low a possible score
