after 1:15 they will announce ..play will start at 12:00
that sucks

Huh? How does that work? Will they use a time machine to go back to 12:00 and start the game?

sent this to TMS just now!

Dear Sirs,

Why are you talking about Ashes; this is Pakistan vs. Australia. Please stick to the topic. I am not paying my license fee to talk about something which is not relevant at this stage!

And where are the Pakistani commentators; it is getting a little mundane listening to Ian Chappell reminiscing of times when most of us were not even born.

Kind regards,
Farooq

Karachi: Pakistan has dropped former captain Shoaib Malik from its playing eleven for the first Test against Australia starting Tuesday at Lord's after the experienced all-rounder skipped a few practice sessions to be with his wife Sania Mirza.
Sources in the Pakistan team management said the officials were irked by Malik's non-serious approach in the lead to what is an important Test series for the Pakistan.

It was decided by the team management that it would be better to field rookie all-rounder Azhar Ali in the playing line-up instead of Malik for the opening Test.

Azhar is now set to make his Test debut along with another young batsman Umar Amin.

Sources said it was a difficult decision for skipper Shahid Afridi and the Pakistan team management to exclude Malik, one of the team's most senior players, from the playing eleven as Pakistan does not have many experienced players in the touring party.
However, Afridi was of the view that he would rather have youngsters giving their hundred percent in the Test instead of opting for a player like Malik, who is more interested in spending time with his wife rather than getting ready for the tough assignment.

Malik married Indian tennis star Sania earlier this year. The couple made headlines in India, Pakistan and the rest of the world. Malik, who was banned by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for one year over indiscipline, was recalled for last month's Asia Cup after an appeals tribunal cleared him of any wrongdoing.

At the same time, and England based England fan is saying 'Why am I paying the BBC a licence fee to bring me Pakistan v Australia' ;-)

As always more than meets the eye to Maliks exclusion. Had he atended a few more practice sessions, Azhar Ali wouldnt have got this glorious chance.

The ground now looks drier than Oxy's jokes. I expect a favourable outcome at 11:15. Inshallah!

"I live not far from Lords and it has barely rained this morning. What about the much vaunted drainage?" asks Lolly. Yeah it's a good question, I'm told it's because the moisture on the field is too light, so it can't er, seep through the surface. Got it? No, me neither

:))

inspection in 5 mins....cmon clouds break up and give us some light please

if inspection is successful, how long till play begins?

:))

1. Because the match is happening at Lord's, the home of cricket. And the Lord's is in England.

2. Because a true cricket fan, especially an English cricket fan, loves all Test cricket.

3. Because the BBC Licence Fee is a regressive, evil tax anyway and is always frittered away by Auntie - rather cricket than Jonathan Ross's hairdos!

4. Because there is hardly any sport on the Beed as it is. It was a contest between Test cricket at Lord's and the "Weekly Village Pub Dog Grooming Championships". For once, cricket won.

This in from crapinfo

So is the delay because of the light or the field being wet?

Because moisture is so light, get heavy moisture or forget about the game choice is yours.

I cannot believe my luck.

I slept in and when I wake up it's time for inspection. Almost worked out perfectly. :D

this is why light should be used in tests!!!!!!!!!!!! I won't waste money to watch the weather, i can see that outside my house, i want action!!

if australia bowl first then we'll have to face hilfy's out swingers and that would be a tough ask !

LOL!

Same here - was gonna miss the start of the match as was at work.

This way, might just be home by the time it starts! :D

Poor old Muhammad Junaid, he prepared for everything but the weather. "Borrowed a projector, called my 11 friends at my place to watch Pak vs. Aus test match, spent almost 100 bucks on food and look what is happening at Lord's. Dear ground staff please take care of my investment!"

Now this is passion. I truly feel bad for the guy.

Let there be light! Oh well at least we all can hope for light... Inspection started or what?

Honestly, the cricket season in Eng is a joke - the 1st day of a new test dseries - a historic series & its like winter

11.15am Imran Ali from Ankara Turkey. "I'm with my Turkish friends and today I have to Introduce the game of Cricket to them but the weather back in England is not helping at all." Ah but the rain delay is a precious joy of the game.

Early today 'cos of the Test. :)

Dunno - probably could but hate streams. Would rather watch it on a proper TV or just read/listen about it.

This test match could well be washed out, it is predicted for heavy rain tomorrow and rain the day after.

Ah but the rain delay is a precious joy of the game. Meanwhile Phil has an answer to the drainage problem: "Couldn't they sprinkle water on the surface to aid drainage?"

Test between Pakistan and Aus is not the best game for introductions I think.

update please

We've seen an analysis of Pakistan, then Australia, then a look at the Legend that is Waqar, then Rameez admitted they used to scratch the ball, Holding admitted that he used to raise the seam.
Meanwhile TMS has been talking about the Ashes.................

Apart from that nothing much.

Salaam people ...Can anyone at the ground tell me if there are any tickets available and how much the tickets are today at the gates ?

Toss confirmed to take place at 11.30am (6 mins time)

Play starts at 12pm

Rameez Raja is a lucky guy, he has an excellent job and there is no doubt of the fact that he really isnt qualified for it.

11.15am There are plenty of people milling about on the Lord's outfield. Umpires, groundstaff, players, stewards. Quiet chaotic and still no updates. The covers are off, it's not raining, but the outfield is damp. From what I can see there is a brush being dragged around the field to solve the problem. Hmm.

Plenty of tkts - no sell outs in Pak tests
