Neither NZ or Pakistan has been consistently good enough this WC to deserve to be in the semis.

Both would have been lucky to make it, neither would have been unlucky NOT to make it.

Besides, I've always (and still do even though Pakistan won the important toss) think Bangladesh will beat Pakistan today. They would have had a better chance batting first, but I think they can still win, even though it's a good foundation from Pakistan at 51/1.
 
Babar should be careful in showing anger to imam. Imam is having some serious relationships in pcb. Babar may not be near team if Imam decides

Dont need umar akmal the rest are fine I would play imad at 5 and asif ali at 6 Imad is too good a batsman to play at 7 and our management our wasting imads batting talent by not batting him higher.

False equivalency at it's best, dhoni has been doing his cowardly screw the result I care about my average routine for years now. It is high time people call him on it. Also Nasser is questioning why pak team can't atleast attempt to go for it here, ganguly isn't involved today.
 
Imam needs to understand if he is to play a pressure releasing shot it has to be one of the first two balls of the over as when you play few dots bowler is already expecting a big shot and that is what happened against Nabi vs Afg as well.

Looks like a 280-300 par pitch to me. Green, but one of those greenish pitches that plays well.

By the way Michael Atherton is such a boring commentator. Painful to listen to.

Someone please put Imam out of his misery. This innings has been worse than anything Ahmed Shehzad has produced. That's saying something.
 
i had a lot of expectations from hafeez in the world cup , though he won us one match but in the rest he failed. Hafeez should retire after the world cup. Fakhar should be kicked out.

pakistan should draft in zafar gohar , adil amin and saud shakeel.
 
Pak will win this match easily against the minnow team..but won't be 300 runs..but 100+ sure

Whatever the new combination is - we must stop playing bits and pieces players. They will never be as consistent as specialists.

Play your best 5 specialist batsmen, best WK batsman, best all rounder, and your best four specialist bowlers.

Than I am worry about Soumo, Liton and Sakib blast. We need at least 320 runs to win this.
 
Maybe Imam forgets this is a proper match and thinks it is some kind of fielding drill, hence most of the shots go straight to the fielder...

That's what people were wanting Dhoni and Jhadav to do. Go for 14+ an over, and they would probably have ended up getting 4 an over instead of the 8 they got.

This approach works if you have the quality of India's bowling attack and top 3 in the batting order. With their spinners + Bumrah, they can afford to carry four tail-enders because they believe they can bowl out any opposition for below par totals.

For Pakistan, we don't have the quality of spinners to consider this approach, otherwise there will be no firepower lower down the order.

England Australia and India deserve it.... anyone else (given the way they've all played), I'd consider lucky.
 
There's not much difference between Pak, SL and Zimbabwe.

Even though our bowlers aren't in form, I don't think Pak will manage to score above 250 here.

Haris rauf can be the jaspirit bumrah of Pakistan ,he has an slingy action ,better pace than bumrah plus his yorkers are deadly accurate.I am actually excited for our team post world cup,I see us being the top 4 odi side in a few years . We just need proper management and good selections to be on track.
 
Please Bangladesh win today and help end Pakistan cricket and fan's misery.

Our team is better than newzealand ,south africa,Bangladesh and the west indies.
 
New Zealand will be laughing in their hotels waiting for Pakistan to try and score 500, looking at their approach now :yk2

Many people haven’t noticed but he has improved his strike rotation a little bit over the las 1-3 months. Also against new ball with fielders in its difficult to score a lot of 1s and 2s as one should be able to see from dot ball %age of other openers. Imam needs to work a bit on his shot range.

Hammad Azam wasn’t picked and developed at the right time. A couple of years under a pro coach in 2011/12 and he could have been at least Neesham level. Even in the sporadic chances that he got at that time, he showed his temperament. Unfortunately, he had no chance under Mohsin, Waqar and Misbah.

I somehow feel Bangladesh deserved to be in Semis ahead of Pakistan & NZ! NZ made it because of going through a lucky flow in the beginning (easy matches). Also these teams are experienced enough & know how to win some key matches to qualify! Bangladesh missed some tricks though they tried hard! Also rain affecting some of these matches would have made the difference & could have given the correct idea of how the teams fared!

Based on what? They lost to West Indies, Bangladesh I think are 50/50 chance of winning today, NZ and SA have had terrible world cups, but I don't think that clearly means you can say Pakistan are better. Both were higher ranked teams than Pakistan coming into the WC. If you're just basing it on the 1 game against those sides, then you can't say your better than the West Indies using the same argument.

I think he was harshly dropped. He is no inferior to Shoaib Malik and I think he would have enjoyed batting on these true wickets. He's far from perfect, but I don't see any other alternatives, unless the likes of Saud Shakeel and Khusdil Shah are ready.

As for Imad, the problem with moving him up the order means we will need to accommodate accumulators instead lower down the order.

We need better players than Asif Ali.

Pakistan should be invited to a triseries in Bangladesh with ban and afg. Would be interesting to see who wins
 
Great foundation for Pakistan, they still could make 300 if they maintain wickets in hand.
 
Pakistan has set good platform. Need to bat rest of this session and the next session and they have a reasonable chance of 400 at stumps in the evening.
