Pakistan v Bangladesh | Match 43, World Cup | 5th July, 2019 | Lords's | Pakistan innings

No PCT is not better than NZ and SA.

But Pakistan are still better than WI.

Bangladesh is just one notch below Pakistan.

Yes very knee jerk isn't it. I mean any cricket fan worth their salt who actually watches cricket outside the WC knows NZ and SA aren't suddenly hopeless teams overnight just because they've had a bad World Cup, and Pakistan aren't suddenly a better side just because they're likely to finish somewhere between 4th and 6th place (depending on how today goes)

Just win the damn game

Lol at fans going for 400 to 450 :)))

Sarfaraz talked about scoring 500 but these batsmen are scoring at the SR 85. Either Sarfaraz was talking crap or there is no unity at all within the team. May be the strategy changed, just try and win the game?

Neither NZ or Pakistan has been consistently good enough this WC to deserve to be in the semis.

Both would have been lucky to make it, neither would have been unlucky NOT to make it.

Besides, I've always (and still do even though Pakistan won the important toss) think Bangladesh will beat Pakistan today. They would have had a better chance batting first, but I think they can still win, even though it's a good foundation from Pakistan at 51/1.

I somehow feel Bangladesh deserved to be in Semis ahead of Pakistan & NZ! NZ made it because of going through a lucky flow in the beginning (easy matches). Also these teams are experienced enough & know how to win some key matches to qualify! Bangladesh missed some tricks though they tried hard! Also rain affecting some of these matches would have made the difference & could have given the correct idea of how the teams fared!

Sarfaraz talking crap probably.

I wonder who can replace Fakhar after the WC.

Maybe Ahsan Ali. Any other non tuk-tuk, under-30 openers in Pakistan?

Strategy change between toss and the 1st over of game?

This approach works if you have the quality of India's bowling attack and top 3 in the batting order. With their spinners + Bumrah, they can afford to carry four tail-enders because they believe they can bowl out any opposition for below par totals.

For Pakistan, we don't have the quality of spinners to consider this approach, otherwise there will be no firepower lower down the order.

Whatever few runs a #8 batsman will provide down the order will not amount to the runs saved from a proper wicket-taking bowler.

A specialist in these last two years would've won us more matches than the two supposed allrounders Shadab Khan (with glorious SR of 65) and Faheem Ashraf.

Bangladesh's inexperience cost them though, they probably have more sheer talent in their side than NZ or Pakistan. Don't be surprised to see Bangladesh a real force in 2023.

Strategy changed? Did you hear the full interview loll. He never said they could score 500, he said that if they were to win they have yo score 509. Never said they would. Could tell from that interview they weren’t going to go all out.

Who is playing today?

Is Asif playing today or Malik?

same XI as last match bro...,,as a neutral - am disappointed asif was not selected- u need power hitting....
and if ever u needed pace to shine today was the ideal day to give that exposure on the world stage to Hasnan...he'd have gained much in this game...

Imam looking nice and podgy these days... He seems to have enjoyed his holiday alot

New Zealand will be laughing in their hotels waiting for Pakistan to try and score 500, looking at their approach now :yk2

Bangladesh is just one notch below Pakistan.

New zealand and south Africa are on the decline ,Ross taylor will retire soon the kiwis openers are probablly the worst in this world cup ,Afghanistan has better openers than new zealand the less said about south africa the better soon faf ,dale steyn, tahir and hashim amla will retire and the downfall of south Africa cricket will begin which is sad.

Hope he scores 150 today. Need to learn how to make big 100s.

He will, just because he is our best young bat I think we expect too much from him at 24 years of age. He is already learning at a pretty good pace.

Bangladesh badly need a wicket. 280 might be too much if this pitch slows a lot.

bangla batters will kill it if less than 350 on board. we know their power hitting.
save the game and dont even think about 500.
be honest this slow run rate still going on in this game. both imam and baba are playing for them selves.

anni deya mazak ae

We can only hope they are grooming some young players in under 19s and in their first class cricket

Cricbuzz "You can't be faulted to think that this is like any other ODI for Pakistan, as there hasn't been any extraordinary intent thus far. The kind that they need to get to 400 or thereabouts. To be fair, Bangladesh have been quite accurate too, especially in the first 10 overs where they hardly gave anything away. Interesting to see if Pakistan shift gears over the next hour or so"
Go Pakistan its now or never

Not a pitch for 450 Guys . Should Play Sensibly and Win The Game

Lords has always been a max 300 pitch.

But sometimes even 250 is enough, pitch gets slower and there is also a slope to contend with.

I've never been a fan of Shadab, he's massively overrated on PP. I would prefer a better spinner who can average 15 with the bat over him, so I have no disagreements on this point.

As for Faheem, he shouldn't even be playing for our A team.

But I feel we need to keep Imad at 7, otherwise we will have a long tail. Can't afford to carry an accumulator at that spot either.

Fans like you are the problem!

Real fans want the team to go for it and show intent even it means losing

what reward will we get for winning this pointless match if we dont qualify for the semis?

Cant wait to get that trophy for 5th place :)))

Who forgot Pakistan vs spinner against Afghanistan

I dont want to see that again today :jordan

If Wasim and Rameez had ANY clue about our domestic cricket - they'd point out many of our young batsmen are weak against spin because the surfaces in Pakistan don't encourage spin bowling.

They are damp and green, so even a potbellied 125kph seamer can run through a side just hitting a length leaving few overs for spin. That hurts our batsmen who don't get the exposure vs spin.

Like UAE pitches, our pitches just get slower and deader and don't crack like Indian pitches do by the 4th/5th day.

Babar doesn't have power in his shot. Even Kamran/Umar would hit that 6

Imam has been horrible against spin bowling, so 1 dimensional.

He hasn’t developed his game against them - no wonder his strike rate against them is amongst the worst.

Hopefully Imran will work on the quality of those pitches as well.

It wouldn’t have taken away much if Asif was included and opened. Had he got out early tuk tuk was always and option.

Even Kamran and Umar? They were one of the best hitters of cricket ball we produced (Talking about pure batsmen and WK) my opinion as I cant think of many others. Yes they were not world beaters but their shot making ability was impressive.

Babar needs 7 runs to go past Javed Miandad's run tally and become the highest Pakistan run getter in a single world cup.

All these spinners looking like the next coming of Muralitharan and Warne whenever they play against Pakistan :98:
