Predicitions to pakistans starting 11? i think 11 players who are gona play in 1st test should be picked.

Have a feeling that your friend BW is thinking on the same lines - there is no way that YK will not figure in atleast the first Test....

Amjid how can you leave out Younis khan ? He proved in aus that he is one of our best batters ! Hameed does not deserve to be in the squad. Younis scored a hundred versus lankans and did pretty ok down under !

Younis for number 3....................
 
ya Younis shd be in the test team. though hameed scored 2 50s he doesnt know where his offstump is.

my team for the 1st shd be (obviously they shd play same 11 in 3day)

6. ~(this one is tricky) i wud luv to have Asim here but i doubt he wud be . Mohali is one of the better pitches in India and Bob might be inclined to play Razzaq at 6 which wud be a blunder. but ihave the feeling Razzaq will play at 6. Razzaq is rubbish in test cricket i wud like to even Shahid Afridi at 6 than Razzaq although Asim is perfect for number 6.

serious yaar younis is a good player while hameed scored his last hundred on debut thats just POOR !
 
YK, always fails to convert thus rubbish ave of 39.
 
Average of 39 ok not that great but if he continues at 3 his average will come good

Btw Hameeds average is sinking every game !
 
hameed will get better when he bats number 3!
 
He had a long run at 3 but did not deliver why replace younis when`he is doing fine ....

younis average has been really good for last test matches

Pakistan face the prospect of going into the Test series in India short of match practice with rain threatening to disrupt their only warm-up fixture.
They are due to begin a three-day game against an Indian Board President's XI at Dharamshala on Wednesday.

But rain forced the cancellation of Tuesday's schedule practice session and more is forecast until the weekend.

"We are helpless before nature," said Anurag Thakur, president of the local Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association.

"Everybody is keeping their fingers crossed," he added.

The Pakistan players could only watch the skies from their hotel after an hour-long drive from Kangra airport.

"We are here to play and do not want to go into the Test series short of match practice.

"I wish the rain would go away," said manager Salim Altaf.

The tour is Pakistan's first to India since 1999 and they are looking to atone for last year's home defeat by their arch-rivals.

The Dalai Lama, who has lived in exile in Dharamshala since fleeing China in 1959, will not inaugurate the match as originally planned.

There were reports that the Pakistan Cricket Board were concerned about his presence because of their country's good relations with China.

"The decision has been taken by the Dalai Lama as he didn't want to cause inconvenience to anyone," said his spokesman, Tenzin Takla.

If it rains, and the match is called off, I'm not sure how much Match practise our players have had in Domestic Cricket. I know that Sami, Arshad Khan and Taufeeq have played some matches - not too sure about the others.
 
Danish was playing as well I think. Khalil was too.
 
i think after a lot of speculations..the team is pretty much decided...reading bob's site recently clearts out any selection dillemas in anyines mind...
we know the following
1.Salman Butt....No argument
2.Taufeeq......Bob has clearly favoured and supported him..and duely so...solid player...much better than the flashy hameed!!
3.YKhan.....certain to be in the team.Bob has clearly said it aswel
4.Inzi....no question
5.Yohana...no question
6.Malik...well this was a bit of a Q...well again bob said it on his site..Malik will is almost certain to be there...ahead of Asim...this also clears any confusion about Afridi/Razaq..they will not play...and pakistan will play 4 specialist bowlers
7.Kamran Akmal...no argument
then the best 4 bowlers are

Amjid you say Hameed can't be dropped since he scored two fifties but Younis Khan can even though he was the most successful batsman in Australia? Smells of double standards to me.

I'm almost certain that the squads listed above will be the ones that we go in with.

Source is publicly available info and statements that everyone has seen. Do you disagree?
 
I agree with the abovementioned Teams. However, the only problem I foresee is that if one of our 4 bowlers breaks down, we have no back up. Whereas India, can call upon Sehwag, Sachin and Ganguly.
 
So do you think that Malik, YK or Taufeeq should be replaced by Razzak?
 
Abt Taufiq, I think he has the temperament but doesnt have the shots, still remember his VB Series Final attempt to pull. For me both Malik and Kamal are better than him although if u play both then there is the question of who would open with Butt. I would try YKhan as an opener and Malik as no.3 but I dont think Bob is going to do it.

Any thoughts on playing Afridi instead of Arshad Khan? Indians bring out the best in him.

That pull didn't come off and probably shouldn't have been played at the time but it was technically OK.

He is a good driver both sides of the wickets, cuts very well and generally pulls well. Very strong off his legs. I don't see how you can say he doesn't have enough shots for test cricket.

I like marooned's team with the adjustment:

Arhad --> Khalil (Unless he is still injured?)
 
Have been speaking to some Indian colleagues of mine and they cannot understand the reason for the game in Dharmasela - its the equivalent of playing the series opener in Murree! Mohali and Dharmasela are miles apart - why was this avenue chosen ?

good old PCB again. Poor planning of only having one warmup fixture and the obscure location.
 
YK is vastly overated player..... Amjid Javed.

Amjid you said the same thing about him and posted trillions of threads about Younis being useless, before going to Australia (that's after he had scored a good century against Lanka). He had pretty good series in Aus, he didn't score heavily but he was one of the most consistent batsmen on the tour. After his few good innings, you said this " I never doubted his ability and talent blah blah". So what has he done wrong since Australia tour and what has Hameed done to impress you???????

Younis MUST play in the first TEST, can be replaced later if needed.

With just one warm up game, you don't have much room for experimentation. hopefully we'll bat first so the batsmen can have 2 knocks in a 3 day game.

could be the first xi for the test match as no more practise after this unless second innings different.

taufeeq beats out yasir , and kamal over malik .
 
if this will be the 11 fior the first test - can anyone explain to me why malik will not be playing?? he has creamed india in the last 4 odis we have won.

how can u justify taufeeq, yk or even asim over him?
 
these are the batsmen that will be tested on field and all bowlers will be given chance

test matches are not odis...he cant bowl..thats why(probably).
 
yes everyone know malik cant bowl , but his batting alone is better then most others on our team.
 
well, i think performance in this match is also going to count quite a lot in the selection for the 1st test. If kamal or taufeeq dont perform in both the innings then we may see malik coming in.

razzaq is probably playing only because khalil is injured and there is no other seamer in the team but if khalil is fit for the first test, he may play there.
 
more like a 20-20 games by the looks of it...
 
If Wasim Akram I mean Mo Khalil isn't fit why in the world was he taken? Is he that precious that we need him in the squad even if he's half fit?
 
well the main reason given is that he is going to be good net practice for pak batsmen bcoz india has pathan zaheer and nehra.
