apparently Afridi refused to open and that was the only spot open to him.

Malik the team man on the other hand was ever ready to step in and give it his all. hence, his inclusion and Afridi's exclusion...

We could use an allrounder. Younis, Inzi and Yousef make strong middle order with Afridi and Akmal to follow. Afridi is a matchwinner both as a batsman and a bowler.

are you sure he is a matchwinner with the ball or the bat in tests? his bowling can be useful as a foil to Kaneria's conventional spin but we have much better batting options. he is far for a matchwinner with the bat in tests.

please don't mention his innings in WI. centuries, heck double or even triple centuries should count for nothing (except for overrated personal stats) when the match is clearly lost for all practical purposes...

looked high in the replay, but to be honest the live shot looked like it would've hit. i would've given it. also, malik reacted like the ball had kept a little low, buckled a little so that would not have helped the umpire at all.
