Is the ball not suppose to spin on the first day? I'm still learning these sort of things about cricket lol. I just know a few things about cricket pitches.

Australian pitches offer lots of bounce.
English pitches have a lot of movement off the seam.
Sub-continent pitches are flat with no movement - more helpful for the batsmen (batting tracks?).

Now about spin bowling. Why are most of you surprised with the amount of spin this pitch is generating?

Usually as a first day pitch is smooth the ball normally doesn't grip on the pitch so little or no turn on most pitches. As days go on the pitches break down because of wear and tear and so the movement for spinner of the pitch increases.
Although the ball is spinning it is slow spin so bowlers like Swann that flight the ball will not be that effective as the need the ball phiz of the wicket to be dangerous at the same time I think Ajmal and Hafeez should enjoy the wicket more as they usually bowl flat so harder for batsman to judge what to play and what to leave.
