Best of luck.

While at it you could also wish us best of luck for Brisbane. With Gayle back we should give a tough fight to the ruthless roos as well.

Decent day for pakistan but we will need to wrap up the Kiwis inns very quickly tomorrow. They could easily still get 400+ with Vettori and Mcullum still there. Alot of hard work for pakistan still to do. Then pakistan will need to bat solidly in reply!

just because a lot of Indians are black does not mean they like Windies are probably gonna be big downunder..im sure an article in bbc would be back me up on that

I am sure some Geo promotion clips will also back you up.

Interesting days play evenly poised match, however if NZ gets 350 to 400 by chance Pak might be in trouble... All depends on how the opening stand for Pak will fare...

Slight advantage NZ I think. Looks like a typical Middle-Earth seaming wicket in the late spring. Interesting to see how Pakistan bat on this.

i know u didn't watch this one :P

track was generally slow with only a bit of seam movement earlier on .. not at all a difficult pitch to bat on.

aamer, gul and asif bowled brilliantly .. and should have had NZ all out if it wasnt for those key drops.

I think we are already in trouble!

Any score above 300 will challenge us - be prepared to concede a first innings lead.

Having asking NZ to bat idealy would have liked to bowled them out on the first day. We would have if it was not for Mr butter finger Farhat. Hopefully we can restrict them below 300 tomorrow morning and then make sure we get to three figures ;-)

I saw bits and pieces of it :D

I do think there's a bit of movement in the wicket - Pakistan's opening stand will be crucial. The Hobbits have this annoying tendency to punch above their weight at times.

Salman Butt should have been persisted, he should be playing here now afterall he made his presence felt in the neighbouring country across NZ. Its a shame PCB has ruined what could have been a great opener for PAK........

The pitch has flatten out the second new ball did absolutely nothing apart from the LBW appeal. It should be ideal batting conditions tomorrow if we make good use of them ofcourse.

If it depends on that Pakistan will lose this match.

Vettori and McMullum will be crucial wickets, they put on another 100-odd then 380-400 would be a tough ask..

I expect nothing from the openers and expect the likes of Yousaf, U Akmal, Shoaib Malik and Fawad Alam to at least get us to parity to the score NZ make

Pakistan should try to get NZ under 300. Absolute critical stand between McCullum and Vettori this one. The pitch will ease out and become easier to bat on. So winning the toss was the most crucial thing so far. So far I'm disappointed with the standard of the slip fielding ( mainly Farhat ), dropping catches in test cricket is unacceptable, take the straightforward ones at least. For me, the pitch looks to be batting friendly with a bit of nip to offer for the fast bowlers. New ball vital for the Kiwis when they bowl.

I am as big a PCB basher as anyone, but in this case, Butt Saab did a lot more to ruin himself than anything PCB did to him. Butt, Faisal Iqbal and Imran Farhat are the three young Pakistani batsmen of recent years who got more than enough chances, and didn't make much of them - just compare the number of opportunities these guys have been given, and the number of years they have been persisted with, with the sorry treatment meted out to the likes of Taufiq Umar, Asim Kamal, Hassan Raza etc in recent years, and the one great loss of the 90s - M. Wasim!

For some players, it seems one or two failures are enough to consign them to the dustbin of history; for the chahetas, even after a dozen failures, people ask for more chances!

Pakistan will be depending on Moyo and Akmal Brothers to score the bulk of the runs. Barring Aamer also i would back the other 7 batters in the side to muster to many runs!

i think in the hearts of hearts most fans would have been more then happy with the final score, HAD IT BEEN PAKISTAN'S INNINGS!!!!!!!!!

The highlighted names are garbage but Butt was special its not every day you see a young kid open batting on his rookie tour to Oz & face Mcgrath, Warne to get a 100. He should have been forgiven for all his failures and persisted with he would have eventually came through...

Now now Romali ... you are only saying those nice things because all he does is pound your team :P

Fair enough, Butt has had special moments. In the ODI arena at least, he played some very mature and capable hands - but seems to have been bady let down by his form, and his fitness in recent years. Am not a big fan of young professional sportsmen with 'beer' bellies.

Just as an aside, Hassan Raza achieved more against Australia, in more difficult conditions, than Butt did, and look what happened to him...

I have been his fan long before he showed a strong liking to our bowling...

Fair Analysis. I agree completely

NZ should be able to 350ish from here. We will struggle to cross 200 so I thin NZ are way ahead. if farhat had held vettori we may have got them for 250 and it may have been a different game. but its looking pretty bad for us now.

I think had we got vettori out then we would have been on top. But coz mccullum and vettori are still there i think its even stevens so far.Not to say mccullum survived a lbw after been given out by taufel then the review saved him. Although i think asif and aamer will need to get these 2 out quickly tommorow. Anything over 300 will be handy for the kiwis.

batting conditions at dundein will depend heavily on cloud cover. if its cloudy expect seam and swing all day long .

My gut feeling is pakistan will struggle to get to 250 on this pitch!

The middle-order as per usual will be crucial to our success

If they fall like a pack of cards, like they have been in past innings, it will undo all the good work from the bowlers today

They have to carry on the good work tommorow by reducing nz to below 300. The ast 10-15 will be crucial either way. If pakistan get a few wickets then, paksiatn will be on top.

Dammad's crucial catch drops of Guptil and Vettori have proven very costly.

Missing Yunus or Misbah in the slips.

NZ have the edge at the moment. Good start by Pakistan, thrown away by some poor fielding .
The pitch is looking good for batting now and Pakistan need to bowl the NZ under 350 tomorrow and bat positively well and get at least 400 to put the pressure back on the Kiwis.

NZ clearly has the advantage now, they are nearing 300 with Vettori and McCullum still at the crease. We can't afford to let them get 350+ and we really have to make over 400 to win this test match, can't be chasing too much in the last innings.

man our catching gets so annoying. What could have been like under 200 all out is this. Yes under 200 all out if Farhat and Gul held on to their chances

That's what makes it so frustrating. Our bowlers work so hard, and when they finally get the edge it's put down.
