i don't like this strategy of just going into a shell and not scoring runs, just protecting wickets.

This could backfire if a couple of wickets fall quickly, and no runs scored.

Plus it is boring to watch.

no need to take risks, but play positively, this also allows the fielding captain to put more fielders in catching positions, because he doesn't have to worry about the batsmen scoring runs.
