This match reminds me of that test vs India in Bangalore. Ball seaming. Debutant (Arafat, this time Tanveer - who oddly look like one another) get 5 wickets whiel rest of bowlers fail to show up and India/SA reach 500+

I say give Younis 2 chances. He would score 350+ runs. There is big difference between Farhat and AB.

If u want to give chance give chance to someone like Younis

lol..nicely summed up. You're all feeling what I felt on day 5 of the last test when we only got one wicket. Very frustrating. Again I say these flat pitches make for rubbish pitches. Tests in South Africa rarely are drawn. A 200 is a freak case and a hundred rare (except if you're the best allrounder ever like Jacques Kallis). Why ? We have sporting pitches. Get it right Asia !
 
Here's hoping our top order bats with at least as much ease as their number 11.
 
One positive is that the boundaries are short here compared to Dubai.

A south African has never gotten 300 before. S.A might give AB the chance to do that, but for the sake of the game they should declare now.

Does this remind anyone of the test match against India where Yasir Arafat made his debut?

Debutant got early wickets, then huge parnership between Ganguly and Yuvraj?

End result was draw then, not sure about this game :arafat

I wouldn't panic if I was Pakistan....the pitch is flat as anything. Bore fest for next 3 days i predict. Unless Paul Harris can rip some turners. Which as we all know, is as likely as a pig not only flying, but going to the moon.

Looks like they'll give him half an hour after tea. At the rate he's going it should be enough...and they'll get a couple of hours to bowl to a very tired batting line up.

yep.. when tanvir got 3 wicket.. It felt that way.. but it is the same.. another heart breaking match..
 
aint gonna declare- smith has no need to go for the win because Saffers have everything to lose and not much to gain by beating pakistan. Gonna let AB get 300

A big shrug icon I think. There's no great elation in big scores on these stupid flat tracks. Hence why I laugh off any big talk about Indian batsmen. If The South African top 6 played in these conditions half their games they'd all average 80.

Tests in South Africa are seldomly boring with the batters getting these easy hundreds. Take the hint.
 
anyone who thinks that pak could draw this should think about it twice.. in this pitch facing Steyn and Morkel.. i don't think pak can make 200..let alone 600 or drawing the match..
 
This is disgraceful.Lifeless,dry and dire captaincy from Grandpa Misbah.No inspiration,no spark whatsoever.Defensive field settings.

BUT,this is the right way to go about things,Aamer and Asif,no matter how good they were,you get caught up in that sort of stuff,you pay the price.

This will be painful but in the long-run and yes our bowling line-up will be considerably weaker but this is the way to go.

What?. Surely our batsman are not as bad as your making them seem here.
Morkel Steyn Harris all getting runs for South Africa says enough about the pitch.

AB now has the highest score ever by a South African in test cricket!
 
I'd be pissed if I was AB.

300 was there for the taking. Would've taken him only a couple of overs too.
