Pakistan v West Indies | 1st Test (D/N) | Dubai (DSC) | Oct 13-17, 2016 | Day 2

Babar should look to develop an effective sweep shot. Haven't really seen him play it much so far in his career and if he does he will be able to score loads on these wickets. Azhar has managed to do it so don't see why Babar can't, going forward.

He surely can score a ton here it is absolutely on offer here...I think Pakistan is trying to accelerate and Babur may get into this trap of over acceleration.
 
Bat another session and a half. Get to 550/600 and declare.
 
I'm just watching all bowlers bowling during the break and both amir and Sohail are swinging it miles..

yes, he looks to have issues coming forward and should also learn to over stretch like younis to negate any chance of LBW.
 
I think, PAK has paced up nicely. Apart from first half hour (10 of 7 overs), score is around 103 in 23 overs, which is around 4.50. WI also maintained a very good over rate.

Next session target should be 140 in 28 overs ~ 530 at Dinner. Then may be 12-15 overs to reach 600 & bowl 17/18 overs tonight.

Vijay actually has faded away lot in last one year. I can't recall much of him since 150 at Dhaka; those pair of half centuries at Kanpur & may be 1 or 2 against SAF.

He is a fantastic opener for Test, always had been. How good a Test opener he is, we would have never known had Arthur not been there - Azhar would have finished his career at 3 under Deshi style, where he is a misfit.

Regarding the Kungfu openers, that's some thing will work on roads - but I think, Azhar is batting at perfect rate here. Had the out field been faster, he should have been around 250 now.

Its really baffling why Pakistan do not have proper planning. I have seen them make several blunders at International level. Even with there bad catching , or running between wickets , I assume that if they had played proper players in right formats and positions , they would atleast win 20 % more games.

Any lay man also knew that Azhar should be opening the batting , and there is no place for hafeez. That would also give them a chance to play a batting all rounder.

In 2011 semifinal against India also , I was shocked that Pakistan took Power Play when both Afridi and razzak were out. I do not understand who makes this kind of decisions.

I doubt very much we will bat until lunch tomorrow...I would want to see us declare just after dinner tonight! We can get 550 by then if we push on from here.

Pak should show some mercy and declare immediately after they reach 500.

At this rate, if Pak bat for another 50 overs, WI bowlers many not last for the entire test series.

Show some sportsmanship.

Who cares. Did England show sportsmanship to us in the ODIs? No, of course not. They pounded us and put up 444. We have to do the same when given the chance.

Well, you have to look at who was Head coach in both those cases (Mohali & Azhar as No. 3) & Captain as well.

That's not the point. They didn't let up, even though they would've clearly won, and neither should we. Pound the opposition into oblivion, put up milestones and records while you can. This won't happen in Aus.
 
It's so good to see RR is consistently on the raise. 3.40 overall and 5.2 in last 10. Very good going.

That said, with 50 overs left for the day - we're batting on 443 at RR of 5.20. If we continue to maintain it then in next 25 overs we should/could be touching 550. Which would be mammoth for Windies, who can botched due to scoreboard pressure.
 
It's pathetic that such a mediocre cricket is WI Test Captain. ODI I can understand - a player with stats of 23/93 with bat & 34/35 with ball can make the the team, but Holder doesn't make even a good FC side.
 
Hopefully we should be around 530 runs come the 2nd session break if we keep scoring at same rate we have in last ten overs. we should be aiming for 550-600 as quickly as possible.

I think with Mickey as coach , at least tactical decisions will be improved.

Highest run rate in the first innings of a UAE test is 3.81 by SAfrica when they drew against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi.

Every other first innings in the UAE is less than 3.5 RPO so, as usual, you're talking rubbish.
