What's new

Pakistan v West Indies | 1st Test (D/N) | Dubai (DSC) | Oct 13-17, 2016 | Day 5

if less than 100 runs needed Bravo will attack with power hitting, he is well set and this session is very difficult to take wickets especially with the dew factor is tough to bowl too...

Bravo can only hit that one shot where he slogs it for six. Most likely he will not go for it as there will be fielders there. He isn't great at rotating the strike either and he won't because of the tail.

would Pak's 579 also be the highest ever first innings score in a losing cause should the Windies get there?

Every rise is followed by a fall and every fall is followed by a rise.

Our Test team has reached it's peak. It matched England in England and occupied the Mace, albeit for 5 seconds.

We have had our moment in the sun (English Summer), not we must prepare ourselves for a fall. Misbah is also retiring after the Australian tour, and it will be the end of an era with his retirement.

2014-2016 is going to be remembered for a long time, but sadly it is over now. We must prepare for the worst, i.e. 4-5 years of mediocrity before we rise again.

Over rate has been poor from both sides this test.

38 overs left but won't be able to bowl them. 30 max or perhaps even less depending on time.

Brother I still feel you are overreacting. Pakistan just needs to produce four good deliveries basically just one. And the rest will fold.

It's about the performance not the result. Before touring England and getting the Mace, we would have destroyed West Indies.

Sometimes when you achieve something your dearly desire, your level drops. It's a natural process and happens both in team sports and individual sports.

I feel that as a Test team, we have reached that stage.

This match can be over in the first 10 overs of final session if Bravo gets out.

As of now..

Pak win = 80%
Draw = 15%
WI = 5%

WI will only have a chance at a draw or win if they can score another 60 runs without losing any more wickets. That is highly improbable.

Sinusoidal, very true. And this applies to trends in society as well, even w.r.t religion, when there is too much of conservatism and dogma, the society tends to go away from religion, and as the society reaches a point of saturation , the trend again falls towards religion. Likewise..

Nobody realizes that we don't need Bravo. We need Holder. He is they're only chance of winning. Bravo and Bishoo will go at 1 run per over and number of dots will lead to a collapse.

9/10 times Windies will win. The message from the dressing room to Holder will be to go and thrash the ball to all corners, and Bravo will be advised to hold his end. This will work and knowing Pakistan, they clearly will panic, bowlers will go for glory balls and voila, we have a windies win.

From cricinfo: "Only twice in Test history had the last four wickets put on more than 150 to successfully chase down a target. The more recent of those was in 1907. Today, West Indies' last four wickets were left with 152 more to pull off a stunning come-from-behind victory. Can they do it?"

don't go by how many runs are required...There's a reason why it is a very tough ask so your 9 out of 10 probability is too high...

Pakistan is in dominant position here. WI can lose 2-3 wickets very quickly.

Is there dew on the field? Bishoo did well yesterday.

Odd to see Yasir struggle on the 5th day. He is probably the best final day bowler in the world going around.

Come on Pakistan, need one wicket quickly to open the floodlights

No. Australia lost to England after scoring 586 in a timeless test in 1894.

Second highest is Australia again, when they scored 556 and lost to India in 2003 when Dravid scored a double ton and Laxman got a hundred.

maan...I will ask dua for a Pak win here from Sri lanka, I badly want them to win. But don't see em winning today. Hope I'll be proved wrong. In sha Allah. But I've been following a lot of Pak cricket, and I think with the dew and all that, a windies win is very much possible.

Think this test will take the route of the Adelaide test.

Virat Kohli = Darren Bravo here.

Why have Sohail Khan and Mohammad Nawaz bowled so less overs in both innings?

Out of 123 overs in the 1st inns - Nawaz bowled 17 for 2 wickets.

Out of 85 in the 2nd inns - Sohail with 7 overs and Nawaz 13.

Is it no confidence in these 2 bowlers by the team management or is it something else?

The score flatters the westindies .
Pak have already taken more wickets than the westindies in the game and they are still a 110 runs behind 😛

Just facts thala.

Ippo kuda remba kashtam for WI.

But terror fight kuduthanga indha WI.

Win panna unbelievable win aa irukum.

Windies Vijaykanth'da mooththaraththa kudichchaangalo ennamo :D .. lol. Bishoo ball'a nallaa flight panninaan nethtu... Pak batsmen are to be blamed. Anyways, true, terror fight back !!

No he is not .
What are you basing that on ??
Infact if i am not wrong zulfikar babar has as good a 4th innings record as yasir .

The best 4th innings performance from a WI batsman was Brian Lara's 153 in Bridgetown vs Australia in 1999 to win the Test chasing over 300. Will never forget that knock for as long as I live.

If Darren Bravo can either guide WI to safety or lead them to a win then this'll rank right up there.

he is completely useless here in UAE, dont know why they select him.. He himself is pretty sure he will dropped in the 2nd test and forever...

Are we watching the same match ? He's been bowling superbly but with no luck. Misbah doesn't seem to hv much confidence in him that's the reason why he hasn't bowled him in this match. And , its great He's really improved his fitness as well as we saw him struggling in England in his second spell but so far he's really been bending his back when ever he's asked to bowl.

What's with all the wrist slitters here? We aren't losing this game. Not in a hundred years.

The match result shouldn't affect the quality of the innings. Bravo has done everything he can and if WI still can't win, it is the rest of the team's fault.

Looks a bit legside-ish, don't think this will be overturned.

Be nice. They're all new fans who haven't watched a test match before.

Yasir has been a huge part of Pak's success in the UAE. A standard match is Pak piling on a huge score in their first innings, and Yasir skittling the opposition team on the final day. This is not a new thing.

this argument can be used for Tendulkar's defense when he is called not a match winner

There are 100 runs needed, with the centurion and a decent all-rounder at the crease and 4 wickets left. It is reasonable for people to think that WI can win this.

Because there is a cut off time, regardless of how many bowlers are left.

Only 2.5 hours maximum in the last session so probably 34/35 overs max.

So if it benefits my team, I can take my own sweet time and bowl 50 overs instead of 90 in a day?

4 wickets left? LAST 4 wickets. RR is over 3.3 now. 3% chance of WI winning.

Shame it takes at least 3 days for a Test match in the UAE to actually get going but Day 4 and 5 has been absolutely fantastic.

This is a gripping final session.

I just cdnt agree more with you. . It's probably the best test innings ever played while chasing. The amountil of pressure Brain lara was under in that test match makes it all more special. I am sure no player will ever be able to replicate such a performance in tests.

No way Bravo will go for the win. Has to make sure they cant lose first.

Pak still very much on course to win. 1 and a half hours to go. Once one goes down, rest will follow.

Enough of sohail, replace him with yasir, two more from amir, than bring wahab from his end.
