#PakvWI Pakistan have won the toss and decide to bat in the 2nd Test at Abu Dhabi

Pretty useless Mohd Amir. Ineffective in UAE, flat pitches, team management rested him in the UAE. He really has been molly coddled and honestly speaking this babying is annoying, he shouldn't be treated any differently from the likes of Wahab, Rahat, Imran Khan and co.

Going in with Sohail Khan is an atrocious decision. The guy is unfit and cannot bowl long spells. Imran Khan should have gotten a look in.

Good to see Rahat back to strengthen the batting :rahat

:misbah unbeatable when it comes to the toss, what a machine.

Pakistan bowling looks toothless on paper without Wahab and Amir.

Let's see how Rahat and Sohail do after the first few initial overs where they will swing the ball.

Wahab got rested too though.

Obviously nothing in the pitch for fast bowlers. Excellent move to manage workload on Amir and Wahab.

The point is that Amir should be treated as par with other pacers. If he doesn't get wickets in 2-3 games he should be dropped. The amount of molly coddling he gets compared to others is unbelievable. We are benching Imran Khan who has a pretty decent record in the limited number of games he has played.

And what is the team management smoking going in with Sohail Khan, who is just a one spell bowler? This is a moronic and idiotic decision and puts the entire bowling unit at risk.

Agree with the the second half but not so much the first.
Amir has played non stop since his return after 5 years, that includes BPL and PSL. Playing so many games time and time again after a lay off of five years is insane, he deserves the rest. This isn't about him not picking up wickets, it's more about saving him long term and making sure he doesn't sustain injuries over pointless games that Pakistan will win.

So Pak effectively going with only one pacer in Rahat. Sohail will break down anyway.

Nevertheless it's probably another patta, don't think Amir and Wahab would have been of much use here anyway.

Replace holder with Alzarri and that's actually a decent Test bowling attack. Holder is useless with the ball.

I think Sohail is being given another Test to fully see how toothless he can be before giving him a break from Tests.

I would bring in Imran here if I was to rest both Amir and Wahab.

He can bowl long spells and he hasn't gotten a game in forever. Here's hoping he plays the 3rd Test at least.

You have no idea what the team management, especially Mickey Arthur, feels about Amir's importance to the team. They will take the decisions as they deem fit and not worry about people's personal preferences about Amir etc.

I genuinely think this toss situation is getting out of hand, how many tosses have Asian teams won at home recently? I can't remember the last time an Asian team lost the toss at home #conspiracy

It happened literally yesterday with England winning the toss vs Bangladesh.

our test match batting is also mostly boring to watch outside of YK and Sarfaraz. Too many 1 dimensional batsmen ... although results are good at the moment but certainly room for improvement in terms of stroke play/intent.

Lol I was thinking that the same. I can't remember the last time a non Asian team won the toss against India or Pakistan lmao:))

Also need to cut dead weight in the bowling group ... Riaz, Rahat and Zulfi are mediocre and we need to find better wicket takers cough *Sadaf Hussain* cough.

Aussies won all 4 tosses in India YET India whitewashed them. Asians are just getting extremely strong at home. In fact, everyone is. Nobody wins away, and when someone will, I am sure they will be considered to be the West Indies of the 80's.

:out Azhar gone.

Why are Rahat and Zulfi playing? Would have preferred Imran Khan over Rahat for sure.

In a way good Azhar got out lol ... needed a stroke player at the crease ... hopefully Shafiq looks to score runs.

LOL. Yaar, W H Y do Pakistani's always do this? :p Khaaaaiirrr, rooting for Sami Aslam to get a 200 here and Shafiq a 300. :D

I get a feeling that that " Countdown to Azhar ALi average touching 50" is a jinx thread. Since then, It is 3 and 0:srt

No you cant justify an inform bastman to get out. Its not an ODI.

sorry but I just find our batting to be really snooze worthy as currently constructed ... besides losing Azhar against this WI side doesn't exactly matter much.

That Shafiq is the best batsman in the team is evident from the last two shots he played.

Very strong square of the wicket to rising deliveries. I'm sorry, but can't see Azhar Ali playing that. Hawkeye @srh

Azhar > Asad temperamentally.

Shafiq looking very positive at the crease. Might as well make him the opener instead of Azhar, he opens in domestic, no?

Asad Shafiq seems to hv come out to make a statement that I am good enough to be playing LOIs as well..

Switched over to Sky to watch some of the game in Chittagong and the difference in commentary is night and day. Add in the fact they don't have an ad break every single over and it's a far more enjoyable experience. Watching cricket on desi channels is such a test of endurance, between watching the same advert every five minutes and being tortured by Ramiz, Waqar and co. is it any wonder nobody watches test cricket?

Sami strike rate really sucks, he is playing this slow vs this third class attack in home like conditions, what will he do in tough away conditions vs better attacks, i know for opener it's more important to stay along, but even then it's runs which matter not just the balls you face, he play his most innings like we have to bat out 2 days for a draw. And even though it's cricket but still you have to maintain 3 plus run rate and he can't always leave scoring to his partner, it really sucks the momentum.

Shafiq looking really fluent, assertive and elegant. Finally a guy who can hit boundaries against pacers in the top order ... we were missing this since Shehzad got dropped.

There are no "tough" conditions in test cricket any longer. England had a strong bowling attack...

lol Sami gone. Well at least we'll now have both Shafiq and YK at the crease, scoreboard should move along at good pace.

That's terrible batting from Sami, how are you going to play an expansive drive to the second ball you face from Bishoo?

The same Sadaf who didn't/can't impress Waqar, Javed Afridi and the selectors.

Who gives a flying .... He's been a top wicket taker and deserves selection based on merit. If he fails to perform after being given 10-15 matches then move on.

Riaz and Rahat haven't exactly light the cricketing world on fire. 30+ avg. as bowlers, just not good enough.

Is Younis the last ATG batsman?

Batsman after his generation have it really easy with big bats and fast outfields and crap bowlers.

Younis needs to settle in here and we need big runs from these two and misbah, this is W.I session so far.

In other news India has agreed to use DRS on a trail basis in the up coming IndvsEng Series :yk

Rather poor start from Pakistan.

Hoping for another special partnership between Shafiq and Younis like we saw at The Oval.
