Pakistan v West Indies | 2nd Test | Abu Dhabi | Oct 21-25, 2016 | Day 1

A good test for Pakistan before the big tour of Australia/New Zealand, they lost the openers and need to build a partnership in the middle order, + they are not playing with Amir and Wahab (rested). Interesting to see how our bowling will look like. They have taken gamble here although we have never lost test match here.
 
Well played Asad Shafique enjoyed watching him this morning, now take it to the next level.
 
Asad has looked in good touch here, he needs to look to really cash in and get a big hundred here. These two need to bat out the longer extended 1st session here.
 
What's forgotten in the narrative against YK's lack of scores in the 1st 3 tests in England is that he battled in 4 out of 6 innings and got starts ... just got out at inopportune times. Yes he looked at sea and was struggling but he was managing to get starts despite that. Speaks to his incredible mental strength.
 
over rates today have been shocking and bishoo has bowled quite a few overs as well, something really needs to improve on that aspect.
 
Must say, Shafiq looks a different batsman with more responsibility, confidence and receiving the no 3 promotion. Some of his stroke play has looked really pleasing to the eye.
 
Asad looking million dollars today some extremely delightful shots.

Don't worry about it. Both aren't at a level of world class bats like Kohli etc. Which is sad.
 
Honestly, seeing such bad crowds is so disappointing. PCB must find a way to get teams back into Pakistan AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. This is atrocious.

Wonder how long before Misbah launches a reverse sweep or slog sweep.

If you closely observe, it's same people over and over again.

Every thread where a Pakistani is praised gets hijacked and then only crap is talked about said Pakistani player.

No kidding, this same pattern is present in all thread.

Assad Shafiq needs to learn to convert these 60's and 70's into 100's

He is not a number 6 player now.
 
Good to see we are going after the spinners when ever we can, need this partnership to really blossom for the rest of the day.
 
Decent run rate by Pak so far too.

Asad Shafiq should be kicking himself for the loose shot he played. A big 100 was definitely on.
 
Got to love the random smashing of a six from misbah out of nowhere now and then! always good to watch.

Run rate has been good today as well.
 
Remarkable consistency from YK - respect. The sort of dedication he has for his game, probably can play till 2020!!!
 
Younis needs to make W.I really pay for the drop just before Tea. A lot of hard work and batting still to be done, especially with the long tail we have.
 
I am very uncomfortable with this 5 batsman and 1 keeper strategy . .
In England we did well because we put decent runs on the board!!! And Sarfaraz and Shafiq at 6 and 7 were instrumental in that . . Misbah Younis got together at 140/3 . . In Australia . . one more wicket and you're at Sarfaraz at 150/4 with just NAwaz to come . .

It's such a chicken and egg situation for Pakistan! You go with the 6 batsman and 4 bowlers strategy, then we have a problem of burn out . . so tough!!

But honestly, if Pakistan is going to win in NZ and Australia . . they will have to put enough runs on the board . . I would take the same risk that we took in England and go in with 4 bowlers . . I think thats our best chance to win . . with the current line up . . our batting looks bleak and however many bowlers you have, if you dont have runs , you wont win
